Did you see the link to my Lolita message board? If not, you can just click my www button to get there. Heh.
Anyways... Personally, I tend to lean more towards the outfits that Kana wears, because she's just adorable. That the kind of Loli that I am. XD I don't know if you could clasify some of her outfits as EGL, because mostly its just cute stuff. But thats the kind of Lolita that I am. Hah. ^^ I don't know what that falls under, really. I just call it Lolita.

OMG I've been waiting two years for someone to ask me that again. XD No, its not n00bish. I'll tell you.
Kana is a J-alternative singer. Her music is kind of like a cross between gothic rock and new rock. I love it. I can give you a site with tons of pics. It could give you inspiration for your own Lolita outfits. ^^ Yes? XD

i have always felt that EGL and EGA were the 2 genre headers and below those you have goth, sweet, etc. then you have kodona which is more under EGL since EGA is una-gendered. the Elegant part of it is the victorian connection, it gets chopped down by laziness.

EGL = Moi-meme-Moitie (I can't do special characters, sniff). Mana coined that term for his clothing line, and it should stay within his clothing line. In short: Elegant Gothic Lolita (or Aristocrat, for that matter) = specific. Gothic Lolita = general. !Read This! This article is from the site that produced the song quoted from on the guild homepage. And from reading it, it's apparent she knows her stuff. o_o: http://www.lerman.biz/asagao/gothic_lolita/guide.html(Scroll past the updates. It starts from "It's been brought to my attention...") It's a long read, but well worth it. I learned a lot.

I don't like to just call it Gothic Lolita, it gives people the wrong impression, that it's all for goths and since I'm more sweet lolita, that doesn't suit me at all. if you want a truly general term, just call it lolita. there's nothing wrong with being gothic & lolita as the zine is named.

alice from weirdland As you can tell by the title, this topic has to do with the terms: "Goth Lolita", "Elegent Goth Lolita" and "Gothic Lolita". Why do I bring this up? because, I've noticed that a lot of people in the Lolita community keep refering to the Lolita fashion in general as "EGL" or "Gothic Lolita". I want to clear this up since it really annoys me when people get terms mixed up. "Goth Lolita" is the fashion in general. Sweet Lolita, Cyber Lolita, Punk Lolita etc. all fall under "Lolita" fashion. "EGL" and "Gothic Lolita" are sub fashions of Lolita fashion like Sweet Lolitas etc. and are not to be used to describe the fashion in general. Just wanted to clarify that with you. Sorry if I'm wrong and I sound like a total moron Lolita is the main fashion, not Goth Loli. xp

I am glad I'm not the only one this bothers! EGL/Elegant Gothic Lolita refers to Mana's invented style (NOT lolita in general!) and so only clothes by Moi-Même-Moité or things that look very similar to Moite can be called "EGL" Quoting from another website: a. Elegant Gothic Lolita - Mana's image of what a woman should look like - ONLY MOITIE OR THINGS THAT LOOK LIKE MOITIE - heavier make-up, sometimes - more of a fit, grown up feeling - HEAVY tie to Malice Mizer or Mana (but not always M10M)Akemi-sama eh I think EGL works better it covers most bases. Hell the Gothic Lolita Bibles cover everything not just Gothic lolita. Yes, the Gothic Lolita Bibles do cover almost every style, but EGL does not cover all the bases because it is a sub-style just like sweet lolita. You wouldn't use sweet lolita to describe both gothic lolita and punk lolita, would you? It's the same concept. Source: Gothic Lolita Styles (Same link Lily-chan used, I just noticed!) (sorry if any of this came off kind of harsh, I didn't mean for it to!)
