Honestly? seems heavily overpowered, or atleast thats how the profile reads statements such as 'bullets dont seem to hit him as they are deflected or cut to bits' and 'he can bend air around himself to turn invisible' (which makes no sense, btw) tend to make me just go bleh...

Youve got a mech, why not just use his Mech as his main power? he doesn't need to be some amazingly powerful master of wind + giant mecha personally Id go for one or the other. Even super reactive + mech is fine as the super reaction times will help him outside of the cockpit.

hes suposted to be challengeing not just fast.
and removeing his powers would kinda kill how he fits in the story line.
and he isn't imune but a pistol or a single assault rifle doesn't have a very high chance of hitting him. best bet would be to get up close against him.

Chatted with Tanasha (shes quite busy these days) but she gave me the go ahead to post the Old (old as in original thread old) asset list, this is out of date, but at least its a start.

Assets: ASDF Base
*11 DropShips
-4 Overlord DropShips retrofitted for fighter transport (1 Reinforced Wing capacity per DropShip)
-2 Overlord DropShips (36 mecha + one 6-fighter squadron capacity per DropShip)
-1 Overlord DropShip (one 278-man infantry battalion + one 6-fighter squadron capacity per DropShip)
-1 Overlord DropShip retrofitted for cargo and non-combat unit transport.
-5 Leopard aerodyne DropShips (7-man infantry squad + 4 mecha + one 2-fighter lance per DropShip)
*50 Fighter Wings
-40 Standard Wings (3 squadrons + command lance, 20 fighters total)
-10 Reinforced Wings (4 squadrons + command lance, 26 fighters total)
*1 Reinforced Star of Remote-Control Elementals (32 total)
*1 Reinforced Company Armored Cavalry (2 lances Von Luckner tanks, 1 lance Demolisher tanks, 2 single Challenger MBTs)

Assets: Orbital
*16 Orbital Denial Platforms [Orbital Bombardment Laser Satellites] (geostationary; equipped with one NL-55 naval-grade laser per satellite)
*[undisclosed] Spy Satellites (vislight, infrared, magnetic anomaly, fusion signature, and starlight capabilities; can read the license plate of a car with little difficulty)
*ASDF-0 (A large warship currently in geostationary orbit over Barton. Bristling with naval and experimental weaponry and capable of jumping twice for up to 30 lightyears each, it's a force to be reckoned with. Has two leopards and numerous escape pods in case of emergency. It's home to many Aerospace fighters, as well as quite a bit of com gear, extensive R&D facilities and highly accurate sensor gear.)
---

Im sure theres a ASDF-01 by now too (or I remember something about it), noteworthy is unlike the GN: ASDF ships dont have to worry about devoting half of their mass to engines for FTL, and thus are much better armed.

I find this odd that the Aerospace Defense Force seems to have more "Boots on the Ground" assests than the Navy/Marines.... sweatdrop

Dropships made me think of BattleTech.... but I have to ask how many ships is a "Squadron" and a "Command Lance". I have to figure 6 and 2.

Though personally I've always Identified Squadrons as 12 and lances as 4. wink

If a lance is 2 though, how come they bothered to say "One lance Demolisher Tanks" and then "2 single challenger MBTs"? sweatdrop

I presume Elementals are per BattleTech Elementals.

Anyway, with ASDF stuff, and GN stuff (Man the GN has a lot more crap than the ASDF... ) up now, I can start to figure the numbers and compliments, abilities and classes I need. wink

Please note that list is circa 2003 for the ASDF it has changed evolved, upgraded and expanded over time. Dropships are just that dropships of the BT world, elementals as well.

Ship wise the ASDF has probably 2-3 Combat Monitors (big heavily armored, heavily armed inter-system ships) in the 3,000,000 ton range... for comparison, the Aurora Class is only 850,000 tons.

I never posted Marine numbers as a side note, you were the first one razz

As a man who comes from a long line of Marines... that makes me sad... sweatdrop We can trace our Marine routes on my Father's side all the way back to the war of 1812.... sweatdrop

Been a busy week for me, sorry I haven't been around.

Wow, that's quite the old list, and scarily, I remember it from when I first joined the ASDF. The list is skewed the way it is because the ASDF existed independently of the GA and the GN RPs for the longest time. There are two major events in the ASDF timeline that I can think of that would drastically alter those assets:

Lyendi's sister destroyed the ASDF base last year (correct me if I'm wrong in any part of this, Lindy) by plowing a derelict space warship into the middle of the base. It was either half or a fourth of the forces at the main base ended up surviving. It was some dramatic fraction...I'll attempt to look it up...I'd been away from the ASDF for that event.

There are three player-controlled "squadrons" (loosely termed... the number of craft in them varies from squadron to squadron)

The Royal Blades - Captained by V.H. Griffin-chan's character, XO'd by ThrietheTiger's character, with Ninjadude within the roster
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=3512495 is a very complete thread with their logistics.

The Blue Roses - Eileen's old squadron, composed of one command VA-6 Mothra Monster, supported by three Alphas. It's an entirely NPC squadron, commanded by Lieutenant Cameron. They're currently stationed at one of the OBLs. Colors are cyan and gold.

Project Aquarion - Eileen's current squadron, a test initiative by the Tokyo R&D team. Eileen and Sparrow (Owle's character) are the notable player characters, with Dr. Shun Akimoto (NPC) spearheading the venture. The concept is heavily based on the anime of the same name: Shoji Kawamori's (Macross' mecha designer) take on the whole Voltron philosophy. The three fightercraft are named Luna, Sol, and Mars. They are extraordinarily durable, but have only forward mounted guns in this configuration. Combined however in one of three configurations, Aquarion draws on and amplifies the power of three united human souls. A third pilot with the potential of Sparrow and Eileen has not yet been found, so this squadron is on hold. HoshiTe can also be considered part of this squadron, as it was developed using an alternative approach to Aquarion's crystal science.

Nida's (Saoszuc's) squadron - I don't know as much about this as I'd like. Like Tanasha, Nida bases her tech on BattleTech. What's probably more important however is:

The Ascendancy - This is not actually a part of the ASDF, rather a faction that we almost went to battle with. The Ascendancy is what happens when an alternate dimension version of Nida, the engineering girl who can rip holes between dimensions, rips around and gathers a whole bunch of other Nidas and their friends around her and forms a resistance outfit. What are they resisting? The Ixachtl, a larger group of Nidas who have very sinister friends. ...it sounds so much better when you read the full circumstances of it sweatdrop ...anyways, Tanasha has made a semi-secret agreement with the Ascendancy, trading scrap for refined materials, and somewhat of a mutual defense arrangement in case the Ixachtl come back. The Ascendancy seems to own a space station that they can rip through dimensions, and an army of tentacle monsters operating battletech-style mecha. Everything I know about this can be found in the ASDF General thread which can be found here:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=3160299

Other notes:

There is no ASDF-1 that I'm aware of, though if you could ask Tanasha again Jason, I'd be grateful.

The GNG Recruitment Center island contains the following: Three active VF-1 flights (2 VF's per flight) (Wall, Shell, and Barrier), a Tokugawa Class Starship, 3 GNV Patrol Boats (Beta class), the GNV Paladin (a Paragon Class Dreadnought), The museum Ship GNV Sukoai (Arleigh Burke class), 5 VR-052 Battler Cyclone MPs in CVR-4 body armor, and 10 Elementals

The Gaian Army has no active RPers at present, though I'll see if I can poke Arwen and find out what they did have, in case some RPers end up showing up during the course of the RP...that and it's always awesome to have Arwen around ninja
PostPosted: Fri Apr 27, 2007 12:35 am

...oh right, I said two major events. Second would be the Nida Ascendancy. ninja They don't actually change the ASDF base's resources, but they do change the overall forces that could potentially be brought to bear against a foe of the ASDF.

Also in the ASDF General RP is an ASDF outpost named Cedarbank. Tanasha outlines its defenses in the first few pages of the General thread. Cedarbank could have been the victim of the base withdrawals that the rest of the GNG was facing, though as they're NPCs of Tanasha's, I'm hesitant to actually say they're gone.

Foes of the ASDF

I should probably bring this up, since they may become an interesting resource for your guys should you need them. I'll list what I know, and who controls them.

The Ixachtl - Saoszuc - Probably the single largest threat to the ASDF at the moment. Huuuuuuuge battleships, clouds of mecha, interstellar/interplanar domain. They've left us alone for now, but the trade agreements between the Ascendancy and the ASDF will probably not go unnoticed for long.

The Lanzeraedi - Anyone - I made this group up as the sort of Gaian equivalent of the Zentraedi. They are in fact Zents, except they don't tend to sleep when they should >.> There's no real backstory to them, they started as a fun example faction for the Antagonism System (That no one uses! crying ), and became real in an RP attack on the recruitment outpost. My current working idea is that they were one of the many hostile alien races Eileen's father's fleet encountered (The Gaian Rapid Exploratory Fleet) that together ended up destroying over half the fleet.

Aleez, sister of Lyendi Knightstar - Lindy Knightstar - The "evil" twin, she who plowed a warship into the ASDF base. During chats with Lindy, I'm given to understand she has some resources available to her.

The Downtowners - Anyone - Honestly, they're more good-intentioned than evil...they're your typical gaians. Still, the Downtowners do represent a resource that could be used, especially with the current unpopularity of the GNG in their social circles.

Well BD may make a step here or there into the scene, however since there a phantom organization in the zeon empire they don't like to be to show boaty even thou there plans are galactic domination. and they realy hate it when they lose and things don't go tehre way.
