Kokoryta Same with the uni that I got accepted into. Now all I have to do is pass this semester to get into Uni... ninja I think something should also be said about the open door network, which is basically a program where the teachers have a little pride flag on their door signifiying that a student can go tlak to that teacher about homosexual/bisexual/transgendered issues and that the teacher will have had training/info on how to deal. 3nodding They are trying to start one where I am now, but I won't be around to see it to fruition. Go Koko! Didn't they try something like that at Bank of Montreal or was it Royal Bank? Anyway, it fell through because people were complaining that they were almost forced to do it or risk being called homophobic. University of Calgary has no GSA, it has GLASS, the Gay, Lesbian (and Bisexual) Association for Students and Staff. They've also tried to implement the idea of "safe space" which has spread only to the Social Work offices that are near the GLASS office. I'm hoping it'll spread.

Kokoryta That would be news to me. =X Keith, where -did- you get that stat on kids smoking pot? It was in someone else's sig. You know how stats work, they're always skewed if nothing else. Which reminds me I should take it out of there... sweatdrop The story for about Royal Bank's Rainbow Space is here.

There is no Alliance like this in my school. I would start one but there are no "out" gays here and im pretty sure nobody will join because of fear. I really dont want to do this alone. >_< I wish I had more courage.

Kokoryta JoVo We've had a GSA at my uni, like, forever. 3nodding Same with the uni that I got accepted into. 3nodding They are trying to start one where I am now, but I won't be around to see it to fruition. that is the coolest think i have ever heard of biggrin i live in the vally, in northern california. it could be a lot worse, i think about 1/2 or more of the kids at my high school are okay with the GSA (yes we have one whee , i'm just not a member stare ) the gsa at my school is ok, but i dont know the people really well and no one knows i'm gay rolleyes

You could always join without coming out to the members of the GSA, just as a way to show your support. Though, idealistically, coming out is an eventual goal right?
