Adhara blinked, realizing she'd fallen asleep where she sat, high up in one of the trees by the lakeside. The book she had been reading rested on her stomach, still opened to the page she had begun reading hours ago. She'd strayed from the Pagoda some time ago to clear her head. Running into Hikari hadn't been what she was expecting when she had arrived here, and it had brought up memories of home, both good and bad.
She stretched slowly, trying to work the crick out of her neck.
I shouldn't have fallen asleep that way, she thought. She glanced about to see what had woken her and she saw someone swimming briskly through the lake. Great, looks like Hikari. I'm surprised she didn't come find me up here. She always managed to find me when I hid back home. Looks like she's aggrivated about something, though...
Adhara marked her place in the book and lept nimbly down from her branch to stroll along the lakeside.
Wonder what's bothering her...

Lux appeared at one edge of the lake and noticed two other women already in the are. One was walking along the edge, and the other was swimming much further in. Hope they don't mind me and Xitha joining them, Lux thought to herself as she began unlacing her boots.

Xitha tossed Lux a towel when she appeared next to the other girl, then wriggled out of her clothing, revealing a simple bathing suit.
Wading slowly into the cold, clear water, yelping slightly as the water sloshed against her skin, Xitha noticed Hikari swimming at the other end of the fairly large lake. Xitha waved but couldn't tell if Hikari saw.
Diving under, Xitha swam along the bottom of the lake, watching amusedly as fish swam excitedly beside her. She stayed under water for a few moments before surfacing for air, a good distance from the edge.

Lux finished removing her boots then shed the rest of her clothing. She had brought her sword with her; she laid it on top of her towel. Joining the sword were her throwing knives in their sheaths, the daggers at her waist, and the blades strapped to her back. Once all her metal was removed, Lux felt oddly exposed. She doubted anyone would bother her things but she tossed her clothes over them just in case. Looking across the lake, Lux noticed that Xitha had already entered the water. With a shrug, Lux walked to a deeper edge and dove into the water. Lux swam under water until she found Xitha, then surfaced nearby her friend with a gasp.
"The water's certainly cool," Lux said with a smile, flicking her now-soaked hair from her face.

((Hmm... it's a good thing we were only planning on meeting online, because if someone were two hours late with no explanation for a much more important meeting I'd kick their asses))

((Anyway, it's a damned good thing I didn't have better things to do))
Startled, Lux realized that much of her wearines had evaporated. Her quick dip in the lake had done much to restore her energy and good humor.
"Why yes.. I do feel a lot better. Huh," Lux said, surprised.

Xitha smiled. "Alright, I'm going to teach you how to draw energy from the nature surrounding you. However, you first need to be able to see it," Xitha said as she began calling up memories of her first lessons in magery.
"Let's see..." Xitha mused as she looked about. "Aha! There-look at that flower right over there," she said as she pointed at a bright flower noticeably sticking out from the green grass.
"I want you to focus on the center of the flower for a few moments. Don't look at the stem or the petals, just the center," Xitha instructed.

"After you've stared at the center for a few moments, close your eyes for a second then open them again. You should be able to see a faint glowing outline surrounding the flower, similar to the pink outline I used to illuminate Kax," Xitha said to further explain.

After following Xitha's instructions, Lux focused on the heart of the flower, then closed and reopened her eyes. To her great surprise, there was indeed a light outline on the small flower. In amazement, Lux examined the rest of the area around the lake, but to her disappointment the glow disappeared once her attention left the flower. She decided to try again, this time with a tree. After repeating the exercise a few times, she was able to see the energy being radiated off the plantlife surrounding her. Turning to look at Xitha, she said, "Do I have to do this every time I try to see something?"

Xitha shook her head vigorously.
"No, now that you know what to look for, you should be able to see the energy with no problem. You just need to practice it a bit, is all."
Xitha floated on her back, actually in the water and not floating above it as she usually did.
"Now that you can see it, you can refuel yourself with energy from the life around you. Most of this takes a strong will and imagination, like most magery. What you do is create a 'hand' of your own personal energy. After you've shaped your energy into a 'hand' just extend it toward the nearest source of energy. Energy calls to energy; you'll feel it flow right through your 'hand' and into your personal store," Xitha said.
"Here, I'll show you. Watch me with your mage-sight," Xitha said as she planted her feet firmly on the lake's bottom. Xitha closed her eyes and reached for her energy, which glowed a bright gold. All mage-energy glowed gold to her eyes, but generally each person had a different tint, even an entirely different color, to their own eyes.
Xitha instructed the energy by showing it images of what she wanted it to do. After careful instruction, the "hand" extended into the atmosphere-though it could only be seen to mage-sight. Energies in the form of butterflies flew to the outstretched "hand," fluttering above it for a few moments before blending together in one blanket of pulsating light. The blanket of energy covered Xitha's "hand," causing her energy to take on a blue-ish tint befor turning back to pure gold, shining brighter than ever.
Xitha opened her eyes, her skin glowing and her smile radiant. "Think you can do it?"

What the hell, Lux thought as she closed her eyes. To her surprise, mage-sight worked just as well with her eyes closed. Searching for her own energy, she found that hers was pure white. Huh. After being Lightsbane for so long, it's kinda surprising to find white light in myself, Lux thought wryly as she began "telling" her energy what she wanted. As her own hand extended, Lux noticed that it was a lot more timid and a lot less solid-looking compared to Xitha's. She figured it was her lack of practice, not particularly worried. Lux watched with interest as the energy flew toward her, but for some reason the energy did not come in the form of butterflies. Instead, it was shapeless, already in a blanket form that oozed across the atmosphere to settle in her hand. However, when Lux opened her eyes she felt full of light and energy, as if she were glowing to plain eyesight as well as mage-sight.
Facing Xitha, she asked, "Why did the energy come to me like that? Shouldn't it have had a form or something?"

"Well, the energy came to me as butterflies because that's my special symbol. Butterflies and roses," Xitha said, turning to show the tattoo of two roses entwined around an X on her left shoulder.
"When you've found your own particular symbol, whether it be a plant, insect, or animal, the energy will probably come to you in that form," Xitha said matter-of-factly.
"So, now you can see energy and draw from it. First step accomplished," Xitha grinned as she dove back under water.

"Ahh..." Lux said as she floated lazily on her back. A symbol, eh? she thought to herself. The first image that came to her mind was the eagle, flying alone above the treetops, its fierce cry echoing through the sky emptied by its presence. Lux stood and tried the exercise again. This time, the energy took the shape of a bird of prey, backwinging into her hand like a bird landing from a long flight. The bird glowed red before settling into the hand, casting a salmon color over her energy before it returned to its pure white. Lux looked up with a smile, fully energized with the help of the surrounding nature.
