Apparently my beloved carrot top decided to adopt a little girl. Can you not see how thrilled I am? (Of course not, this is in writing. I fear for my sanity now, for it seems Jessy had rubbed off on me.) Yet another one to take care of, as if Jescobe himself were not enough. Now I have not only the...children...at the shop I work at to take care of, and an over eager roommate who'd forget his head if it were not attached to his body... Now I will have a little girl to take care of, with all of her quirks and messes and eventual temper tantrums.

...I hope he knows just what he's getting us into, and he dang well better do his share of her upbringing!

It's taken me...a few days since I gave Sai the news that a little girl would be taking up the other room, to figure him out. He keeps giving me these looks that I can't decipher. On certain days I keep thinking he's moonstruck with me, but I know that isn't right. One because I don't swing that way (or at least I don't think I do), the other is because he's as A-sexual as can come.

But enough of my analysis on my roommate. I told him about what I learned about Glaceu, and how old she was. He didn't look too happy, but I think he's warmed to the idea. I mean, it's not as if he doesn't know how to work with children. That odd shop that he works at (and was born in oddly enough) has stranger things then children. I think he'll fall in love with her, like I did, when he meets her. I hope he can come with me for the first appointment.

Glaceu put away the small bag filled with candy and other things in her room at Faction S. It was the remains of the sweets she’d gotten at the Halloween party so many months ago. It had been a fun night, she thought, remembering all the different games and all the other children there. Though she’d only recognized Caleb. Once the party had finished, her mentors had taken her back to the other adults. She wasn't allowed to go and live with Jessy and Kitty yet. She'd asked the Techy who was taking her back why and had gotten a long and complicated response with many words she couldn't understand.

She’d even asked why her mentors hadn’t shown up lately and was told that Jessy had gotten ill and that Kitty was taking care of him. That they would return once Jessy was well enough to come on his own. Glaceu had been gifted with a bunny rabbit though, a sign that the two men did still care about her. Her olive eyes looked around a room that was rather plain before falling on the letter book she’d been given to help her read. It was a lot harder then the one’s she had before.

Wouldn’t Kitty be surprised to see that she had been studying by herself! With a grin she went over to the red book and cracked it open, reading it once again from the beginning. There were still some hard words in it that she stumbled over.

While cleaning up the mess that seems to multiply every time I go into Jesco's office, I stumbled upon a sheet of paper with a few details of a visit we made what seems eons ago. So many things have happened since then...

After our visit with the child Jesco and I sat down and talked. Our apartment was good enough for the two of us. But for a growing child it would be cramped, especially once we were told about the possible pet she would be obtaining as she grew older. Our decision was finalized at Halloween, when I saw just how large some of these 'pets' would be. Our landlord is a fickle person whom loves pure human clients then Anthros, which are incredibly common now a day. He would pitch a fit if we were to bring Glaceu home.

So without Jesco's knowledge I went ahead and dipped into my own funding and purchased a small four bedroom house. With four acres of backyard. It's about a hour away by car for us, but there's a train station roughly twenty minuets away and the Faction S building is a short walk from the station.

Though I am sad to say my plan was both good and bad. Bad because of the fit Jescobe had when he found out about it. Bad because when I took him to the house he went and took a nasty tumble into some construction supplies the workers left out. Good because when he woke up he approved of the place, even though he'll be bed ridden for another week yet. Bones take quiet a while to heal and he'll need help rebuilding his muscular strength. I only hope the stuffed toy I sent to Glaceu will ease her loneliness until we can come. I...do not feel right going to see her by myself. I fear that she is changing me and I have only met her once.

When I walked in with Sai at my side, I knew everything I possibly could about Glaceu without having met her. But after the meeting I found that some of my expectations were incorrect. Though she is quiet she has a will to learn, she's inquisitive and doesn't seem to mind my bouts of childishness nor Saiyori's coldness.

One thing I noticed was that Glaceu never once left the kiddy pool she was in. I'm not sure if it was because she's far more comfortable in there, or simply because she dislikes the warmer temperature of the air. I could be wrong and it's something far different, but either way it's something to take note of. Which can be the same for her attitude. Though she's young I have the feeling that she's nearly a blank slate, emotionally wise. She expressed joy, curiosity, and a little sadness, but that was all. Perhaps she is like Sai, who is accepting of everything, though he is a bit emotionally dead himself, so it's not a good comparison... I'll have to see just what will bring out different responses from her, as time goes on.

I'm not too worried about any behavioral problems from her. She's just too calm and level headed for a child of her age. It's not quite maturity but it's something close to it. The only problem I foresee would be a bit of a withdrawal from society, which I'll try to change by engaging her into various activities.

Our life in general wont change much, we'll just be burning the candle longer, if you will. Sai won't read silently on the couch anymore, instead he'll be reading out loud. I'll still retreat into my office to grade papers, but I'll be teaching her how to paint once I know she wont try to eat anything, no matter how sweet the scent. I wont forgive Sai for laughing at me when I told him about my own mishap when I was little. Speaking of all these things, we'll need to find a bigger place. Our three roomed flat wont be big enough for a growing girl.

At any rate, I'm glad I took Sai with me. I know he had his doubts when I first broached the subject. But I saw the change when he was with her, after he took time to sit and read her file and to interact with her. I think what he liked the most, was her willingness to learn and the fact that she doesn't have a mean or unruly bone in her body. From what we can see at this point.

But first things first, we need to plan out our future with Glaceu and right now that means a real home, and not something stuck in a steel tower of tiny boxes and glass panels.

:Mentor Journal #2: - Showers are the solution.

Jescobe and Saiyori had received their third missive from Faction S rather late in the day, this one requesting their presence for another mentor visit. Jescobe had been healing nicely and had been recently cleared for travel by the doctor. A majority of the loose ends were tied up and the new house was all ready for inhabitance. All that needed to be done on that end was actually moving in.

As it was Jescobe was chattering away in his ear as usual, though the undercurrent of fear was easily disconcerned. He was worried that his lack of appearance or even word, had given Glaceu the feeling that he didn't love her. Which was a lie, considering he never seemed to shut up about her. If Saiyori had to hear one more recalled memory about her, and their two face-to-face meetings he was going to shove some of Jessy's medication where the sun didn't shine.

But the thing that bothered Saiyori the most, was the vague message the missive had touched upon. Glaceu was actually acting out, refusing to do something so very mundane that it had fast become a problem. She apparently, was refusing to leave her bathtub. Thinking back Saiyori had noticed the problem when Jessy had written about it, but had thought nothing of it. But if it truly was a problem...well... It was something that needed to be corrected, especially since the house they had just gotten fixed up, had a standard sized pool in the backyard. While he didn't doubt Glaceu could swim, he didn't fancy bursting Jessy's little dream of having the three of them act like a traditional family. Even if he did feel like he would be the one wearing the skirt and apron in that little scenario.

Jescobe continued to prattle on and on, ignorant of how badly his housemate wanted to strangle him. They'd already checked in at the facility, and the cool interior was a welcome relief to the orange haired man. He didn't like the heat much, having been raised in a far cooler climate area. His words eventually trailed off the closer and closer they came to the room they'd been told Glaceu was in, until finally they stood in front of it.

Jescobe licked his lips and looked at Saiyori, who had already knocked on the door, announced their presence and walked in. Techy L looked up at the sound of the door and nodded at them, exasperation clear on her face. "See if you can't do something about this." She said before exiting the room, her lab coat leaving a small water trail after her.

"Glaceu." Saiyori said, walking into the room, barely ducking as a spray of cold water hit where he'd been standing. Jescobe, who'd been behind him, wasn't as lucky and got hit full in the face. "NO! NO COME OUT!" Glaceu shrieked, a look of pure mutiny on her otherwise cherubic face.

Jescobe sputtered and choked on more air then water at his beloved little girls attitude. Saiyori just sighed, having known that this was going to happen sooner or later. It seemed Glaceu had hit a small bump in the road and was taking it out on everyone by being a brat about bath time. Instead of it being a battle to get her in the tub, it was a battle to get her out of it.

"Now why don't you want to come out?" Saiyori asked, creeping closer, eyes never leaving the little girls naked frame. Glaceu scowled at him and pointed the still active detachable shower head in his direction. "No! No want bed time!" She said, shaking the plastic tube in her hands threateningly, olive eyes narrowed into thin slits of color. Her tail was thrashing wildly behind her, a sure sign of agitation and one of the reasons why the bathroom was as flooded as it was.

"Why don't you want to go to bed?" Jescobe asked, having finally gotten over his coughing fit. He moved to sit on his heels across from where Saiyori was standing. Glaceu eyed him warily, knowing that she was slowly being cornered between them, and a little water wouldn't stop them from both wrestling her out of the tub. It'd happened before at the orphanage after all. Jescobe counted it a good sign that she didn't turn the shower head on him again, this bathroom was on the small side after all, and he didn't fancy taking another impromptu bath.

"No story." She replied after a lengthy stretch of silence. Saiyori blinked, that was the entire reason for the temper tantrum? She wasn't told bed time stories? Mentally he shook his head, he really needed to stop comparing his childhood with that of others. He looked over at Jescobe, who had thrown his head back and was laughing, oblivious to the pout that now graced Glaceu's face. "No funny!" Glaceu wailed, dropping the shower head to slap at the rim of the tub, wincing nearly immediately afterwards.

"Oh-oh beloved! W-we'll tell you as many bedtime stories as you want."
Jescobe said, wiping at his eyes, clear relief shining in the true blue orbs of his. "But first we have to get you dried off and into those cute pajamas of yours." He gestured toward the large zip-lock baggy containing a towel and a set of baby blue PJ's imprinted with cartoon sandsharks. 'A bit overboard with the species classification,' Saiyori thought to himself and he went to pull the towel out.

"Pwamis?" Glaceu asked, eyes no longer narrowed and full of anger, but wide and hopeful. "Of course baby." Jescobe said, reaching out to turn off the water flow. Glaceu nodded, and held out her arms to be picked up, once the water had been firmly shut off. Jescobe easily picked up, quickly masking a look of pain as his muscles protested the girls weight. He settled her down on the ground quickly, and accepted the towel that Saiyori handed him. "We'll look through all your books when we get to your room okay?" He said, the same grin he'd had the first time he'd met her on his face. Glaceu nodded, though she seemed a little worried about something, now that the more pressing problem had been dealt with.

"What's wrong baby? Why the frown?" Jessy asked, rubbing the towel over her hair, before moving on to her chest and arms. He heard the sound of draining water and a quick glance showed Saiyori reaching out to hang up the shower head. The kitsune must have unplugged the tub while he was preoccupied with Glaceu. "I in trouble?" She asked, her voice a low mutter, even as her eyes stayed glued to the white tiles under her feet.

"I don't think so baby." Jessy replied, frowning as well as he realized that he didn't know the answer. "You shouldn't be, and if you are, you shouldn't be in too much trouble." He pressed a kiss to her forehead and pulled over the bag with the PJ's. Glaceu easy pulled the cotton garments on herself while Jescobe stood and stretched his legs, folding the wet towel in a few well-practiced movements.

"If we're ready now?"
Saiyori asked in the smoothly impatient way of his, hand already on the door knob. "It's well after 8'o'clock, and far past this little one's bed time." His cool emerald gaze lingered on Glaceu as he spoke, but swiftly traveled over to Jescobe's form in a disapproving manner. "Sir, Yes Sir." Jescobe quipt, that easy grin falling easily onto his face, earning him the predicted eye roll for his trouble.

The door swung open and the trio exited the room, Glaceu and Jescobe continued on down the corridor, towards Glaceu's room, unaware of the fact that Saiyori had lagged behind. "I take it that she wont be in too much trouble." Saiyori asked the air, hands folded behind his back as his tail swayed benignly from side to side.

"Of course not. It is a mark of improvement towards her emotional well-being after all." L replied, eyes never leaving the clipboard that she was writing on. "A little water never hurt anyone who wasn't ill." She tapped her paper idly in thought before finally raising her eyes to met Saiyori's gaze. "Now that you know what you'll possibly be seeing more of, are you absolutely sure that you and your partner-"

"Housemate." Saiyori smoothly cut in. It was best to n** that speculation in the bud as soon as possible.

"-Housemate will be up to the challenge of raising her?" L continued, as if she had never been interrupted. "We've invested this much time into her, and Jescobe is quite smitten." Saiyori said, "I'll also admit to finding some affection when I think of her." He paused and sighed ruefully, "Yes. Yes we will accept the challenge, and if possible, we'd like to take her home."

L nodded, "Well then Mr. Black. If you would just follow me, we can get started on the paper work."
