Ash shook her head hesitantly.

"No, that's fine. I'll come with you. It'll be easier that way," she steeled her nerves and took another step. Then another. It was painful to walk, but not so terrible that she couldn't. Besides, she would feel guilty for having Atnae do all the work.

"Er...do you know where it is?" she asked, as soon as she realized that she didn't have a clue where she was going. She knew that Dryads could speak to trees. Did trees know the layout of the land?

"Of course they do, idiot!" she mentally scoffed. They're trees! What don't they know!

She smiled, a small little smile that carried the undertones of "Whatever you say..." with an eyeroll. "Alright then... I've heard that there is a small stream nearby, sunwards!"

'Sunwards'? I can't beleive I said that! Well, I really don't know the true direction. I suppose I should bring my weapon, though. Atnae bent and scooped up her weapon, ready to face anything. The young Dryad tensed, the flung herself upon the branches with all her might. She hacked, slashed, jabbed, turned, and did it all over again. She repeated this pattern several times, until she became out of breath and sank to her knees.

She looked at the vines. She looked again. It was as though she had never touched them. "Argh!" She cried, flinging down her sword. "Of all the #$%$ $(&) @#^ things to happen!" Just realizing what she said in front of another, she felt her face flushing.

"Sorry, Ms. I think we may have to find a way around." Still angry at herself, she kicked dirt on the fire to put it out, they wouldn't be able to find her way back if she was going to make it to Adei in time for the festival. The Sun Festival was the main tourist attraction for Adei. Once a year, all the streets would be lit at night, there would be a parade in fine orange and gold, and a feast in the town square. Sometimes the party would last all the way to night of the next day! Still, she was here now, and she had to deal, now.

Ash raised an eyebrow. Sunwards?

"Are you all right?" she asked, stumbling over to her newfound companion. If they truly couldn't leave this clearing, then she would be able to use her magicks to clear away the vines. However, she hoped that it wouldn't come to that, beause her magick was looked down upon and it often got her into trouble.

"Maybe we should stay here," she said uncertainly. It would be obvious to anyone at this point that Ash was not human. No human would be running around in the middle of the night and no human had blue blood.

Ash'rael had tried to stay away from others as much as possible, but it was inevitable that she would have to go into town for supplies. In her current condition, that didn't seem like it was going to happen.

Atnae looked at her travel buddy. "Why would we stay here?" She asked "There's no water here!" She exclaimed that as though it were the most horrible thing in existance. "Nah, Ms. Ash'rael, all we gotta do is find where we came in..."

Looking around, all the Dryad saw was a thick wall of green. Where did we come in? She wondered. It was almost as though the vines had grown up around their spot overnight...But nothing could grow that quickly, of that she was certain!

Ash'rael slowly made her way towards the vines. When she tried to move them apart, they stubbornly refused. What kind of plants were these? They seemed almost to be intertwined, like a wall.

"What kind of place is this?" she asked, absently, feeling the vines. She was trying to establish some kind of feel for them, a connection, but all she seemed to be able to see were thick, green vines.

She doubted that her powers would be able to move these vines, especially wounded like she was. It was...uncanny. Ash was almost certain that these vines were not here before. At least, they were not this thick!

"Ohhh.. Drat!" She cried, containing her language this time. Where does this vine start? She wondered. On second thought, she asked the trees, though she didn't expect an answer. There was a faint, surprised murmuring amongst the trees, they hadn't even noticed! Atnae was becoming quite peevish...

"Just...Break....Already!" She yelled at the vine, launching into a childish fight against the vine wall. Her skin, already red with exertion, looked as though it would catch fire.

Siy sat in a small clearing in the forest. Her legs were crossed with her hands lightly on her knee's. From afar it would look like a human girl with golden hair were meditating there. However after further inspection it would reveal a girl whose skin gave off a silvery sheen, and whose hair was almost too gold.

She slowly opened one eye and then the other. That stupid cloud still hadn't moved. She closed her eye again and concentrated more. She could hear the trickle of water nearby. It was probably just a stream but it made her think of rain. Ok...come on then cloud. Rain I say. Rain.

She opened her eyes after a few more moments of concentration. The cloud did appear darker but that might have just been her imagination. She sat there looking at the cloud, just waiting. Finally a rain drop landed on her nose. A grin spread across her face, and the silver flecks in her eyes seemed to flare.

Bored and exhausted, Atnae finally sheathed her Sjango seed. To upset to even talk, she walked back over to the log she had originally rested upon. She felt about ready to burst into tears, but she kept reminding herself, over and over, Suck it in. There's nothing you can do. There's nothing to cry about. Suck it in. At last her muscles relaxed, and she closed her eyes and tilted her head to the sky.

Water.

Water, water, water...

In amazement, she opened her bright green eyes, and two raindrops plopped into them, causing her to blink. "Ash...Ash! It's raining..." Not sparing a second, she set a deep pot down to collect the water.

Not wanting it to sprout, she hid her seed and it's sheath inside the decaying log. In a few moments, she was soaked, her hair glistening a dark green. Watching her surroundings, she noticed movement in the wall... "Ash'rael! The vines are sending down roots! We may be able to climb it...." She took her Sjango seed out of it's place and started towards the wall.

Siy heard a sound coming from the other side of her clearing. It was shouting, something about climbing. She quickly stood up and watched the opposit side carefully. Her white pants which had started off clean were now muddy from the dirt and rain.

"There are downsides to the whole cloud thing, I see." She muttered as she stared down at the once-white-now-brown pants. She decided not to try to clean them. Experience had proved that that never worked well. She walked over towards the wall of vines. She hadn't been able to get through and had walked all the way around to get in to the little clearing. Siy guessed that it was probably a dryad since they were being so persistent in getting through.

Sure enough, the vines were climbable, though it got a bit tricky to navigate when a whole new rootling pushed it's way through. Still, she managed, and was soon at the top. Atnae was still soaked, freezing, and annoyed at herself for no reason that her mind could detect, needless to say, she was unhappy. "Come on Ash'rael! The stairs might not last long!" She called urgently.

Her eyes scanned the ground, and sure enough, she saw the rootlings were growing on both sides. Satisfied that they would have a way out, she climbed down a bit to help Fo'Ash'rael to the top. And collect her water, she wouldn't forget that after all everything else happened!

Ash had been daydreaming when shouting broke through. Climbing? When did it suddenly start raining? Maybe, one of her kind...?

"I'm coming!" she answered, heading towards the roots at a painfully slow pace. Her side still stung and the rain was definately not helping. Perhaps one of the Youlands had caused the rain. Ash'rael was able to summon small storms, but they didn't get as large as this. However, an older, more powerful Youland would be able to...

She didn't want to think of it. It would only get her hopes up before smashing them down again. Sighing softly, she accepted help from Atnae to get to the top of the strange wall.

Pulling gently on her hand, Atnae helped Ash'rael up the wet vines. They did not behave like most vines, content to lie still for a few seconds. They writhed, rising in just the right places to trip the unwary. Though it didn't have thorns, it might as well have for all the trouble it caused. How odd, the green haired girl thought. There was no problem when I tried to climb.

Suddenly, a bump she could have sworn had popped up on the spot, leaped up as though to trip her. It succeded. She dropped the bucket, and almost lost hold of Fo'Ash. "Grab on to something!" She shouted down.

Ash'rael froze for a moment, then scrabbled onto the slick vines as she tried for a hold of some sort. However, it seemed like whatever she tried to grab was equally as slippery. The Youland let out a sharp gasp just before she finally found some sort of hold and clambered up the rest of the way.

Breathing heavily, Ash sat on the other side of the wall of vines. It was still drizzling and now, she was not only in pain, but soaking wet. To add to her problems, her multi-coloured tail popped out from beneath her dress. Her eyes widened as she hurriedly tried to stuff it back in. As if she needed more trouble at a time like this!

"Are you okay, Atnae?" she asked breathlessly.

Siy ran over and stood under a tree. It wasn't supposed to rain like this!! Just a light drizzle. I guess when dealing with the sky you have to be extremly specific. She concentrated on stopping the rain.

"Alright I want sunshine. Come on just give me a little sun. You could make it mostly overcast with a little hint of sunshine." Siy couldn't believe she was actually bargaining with the sky like this. Feeling pathetic she continued her murmerings. "Just stop the rain. Or make it lighter." A fork of lightning flashed out across the sky.

"Fine be that way!! Have your attitude. I should stop the sun and moon in their places for that." Her murmering had turned in to an annoyed yell.

"Ngh." She grunted. "I mean, yea! Yeah, I'm alright.." She gave a nervous laugh, feeling quite shaken.

Gathering her calm, which had been broken into little shards by the fall, she ventured a question. "So, do you want to eat now, or wait till we get down? I still have plently of the food..."

She glanced down into the depths of the clearing, which had eaten most of her bag, it seemed. The small sack was mostly ruined, but most of the damage was in the various side pockets scattered about.
