[Unnamed Angel]

=The unnamed easily follows Snow with the careful focus and attention his eyes seem to give. The 'spikes' stop coming almost immediately after the ice thickens. Does that mean the unnamed has given up on that? One might want to wonder about the seeming emotionless expression adorning his face. It might be impossible to gauge what he's thinking. The cloud of petals that started at his feet begin to work their way up and thicken considerably. The two chains, once giving chase to Snow as predators might, do this little double-take. Literally. They stop, and their tips actually 'turn' as if to face the unnamed. They 'turn' to face Snow. Then they do this almost half-shrug before turning back to the unnamed and disappearing into the ground.=

=While the satellite attack aimed at the body of the unnamed, he seems to concentrate on spinning and 'dancing' around to bring his blade up with enough force to stop the strikes. A few do seem to catch him, but the rapid deployment means there's not much sting behind any, individual strike. It still means he's getting hit; though, he's doing well to ensure his most exposed parts are well defended by his blade. If the unnamed were an elementalist, wouldn't that chant have done something? Well. The unnamed knows the truth behind that. It wasn't a chant or anything like that whatsoever. It was just a string of meaningless words. He doesn't chant nor does he need to. It merely gave him time to test his opponent. Other than that chant, he hasn't been toying around or teasing.=

=In any event, the satellite turns its attention to the ground around the unnamed instead. His blue eye changes shape and seems to look down at the ground. Surprise? Worry? His platinum eye retains a trace on Snow. Why look down? Well. That eye returns to watch Snow as if nothing had happened in the first place. The unnamed then is surrounded by his chains, and the ice-cold one is the first to be struck. The spot impacted shatters. That was too easy... The piece with the tip flails to the ground before...burying itself like a snake or mole or something into the ground. The other piece flails around for a bit before 'hunching' over. Is it melting? ...rather is it growing? The other one gathers Light in its tip and begins trying to swat the satellite strikes before they can reach the ground or the unnamed. Why? Was Snow right in his guesses? Then why would there be no more spikes making movement a royal pain to Snow? Why also would something appearing so harmless as flower petals be building up around the unnamed?=

=It also appears that the hair of the unnamed is flashing gold every once in a while. Not often. It's as if that counter to the first satellite strike unleashed enough energy to cause one sudden, rapid growth spurt that also held the gold color longer than usual. Even still. The unnamed does only appear to be carefully moving around the spot his chain appears to be anchored.=

DAMMIT!

On and on the opponent is not making much of a fuss over the attacks that Snow had unleashed. True, most of his assaults were half-assed strikes, but still, unable to gauge nor judge the situation based on the unnamed's expression nor his actions, it seems to him that everything is starting to turn into a one-sided battle.

Snow has a rough concept on how the unnamed works by now. His abilities seem to consist of the chain being the main weapon, with the sword used primarily for close range melees. Elemental strikes are mostly composed of what he can deter - earth strikes and ice type neutralizers.

As far as he's concerned, the chains is the first defense he needs to destroy or distract to land a sufficient blow into the man's exposure. With the petals growing on the grounds nearby - regardless of how torn or battered it may be - Snow has a faint impression that the spores left by the petals soon will be something either toxic...or hallucigen, or hell, just for show.
Which he seriously doubts.

Looks like I have no choice...

The attacks suddenly ceased, and Snow stood a few meters away from the Unnamed, hands raised high into the air and the blade gleaming brightly against the now falling snowflakes, left by his celestial beams. There's no point in using elemental strikes if the chain can neutralize it. But if he can...

His eyes began to darken, ruptures of red and silver aura beginning to seep out of his cloth like whiffs of fluid, tainting the air with an unfamiliar presence - an unfamiliar sense of coldness. With the skies above beginning to shift and contort to the image that Snow has created, he slowly lowered his blade, holding it parallel to the ground again, but with the tip pointed towards the unnamed's chest, however far it may be away from the lethal range.

"One."

The winds ceased to exist around Snow, as the skies above now cracked and shattered with the celestial weapon.

"Two."

Is it just the spectators, or was there another celestial weapon above the skies in the first place? No - wait. Two more...four more....eight more...
The numbers continue to increase, doubling in numbers and tripling in amounts.

"Three."

With the skies littered with the mere blades that can contort such powerful beams of ice, it all aligned with the ground at once, before Snow took a step forward, the intentions clear;

"And the music begins to sway."

At once, the celestial weapons that were newly formed now began to plummet down from the skies to the grounds like rain, with the exception of raindrops being replaced by the sharpness of the blades. One can term it like arrows of death, as it impaled and pierced through the path like bullets, as more and more of the weapons seems to materialize out of the blue runic symbols above - the one Snow had so painfully placed in the beginning.

"Now dance like the rain - dance to the symphony of death."

With it, Snow began to shift his weight to the sides, taking on a small run while he observed how the unnamed would act.

If the blades were simply for penetration...
Then the Unnamed would be in for a surprise when Snow tries out something he just thought of afterwards.

=Interestingly enough. The petals could be considered showmanship. They hold no special meaning except for being manifest images, something of a mirage, of the intermingling of energies not normally seen. It is the strongest defensive barrier the unnamed has, one of only two tactics explicitly named. Cherry Blossom. While the petals gather, he still can move about. The petals climb higher and higher up his body, and he still gathers energy. Then, as if by some coincidence, two more chains erupt from the ground...just as the initial bombardment stops.=

=Water Momiji and Air Momiji have burst unlocked.=

=The four chains are to the four compass directions around the unnamed. For sake of shorter names, what they appear to contain will be what they should be referred to. The almost too normal chain is Light and to the north. The one as cold as the coldest ice is Ice and to the west. The one that just seems to naturally flow and sway is Water and to the south. The one that seems to give off small bursts of wind is Air and to the east. It's doubtful they'll stay in those compass directions. Especially as being in those particular spots has no actual meaning.=

=The first blade that falls near the unnamed might provide an interesting note to Snow. It makes a solid connection. It starts at the right shoulder. It doesn't slice through the seeming clothe the unnamed wears, but it does seem to wear at the clothe nonetheless. There's also the obvious blunt force that must be caused. More striking to note is that when the sword meets the current height of the flower petals...it is detoured. Since the sword made impact with his back, it would be flying towards the barrier instead of Snow.=

Litter the ground with swords and combat?

=Then the chains turn their razor sharp tips towards the sky. Well...except for Ice. It's still missing its tip; though, it does appear to be a few links longer now. Is that a growl? Whatever that sound is, it's coming from all angles. At least that's the way it would sound to Snow. What the chains do next might be considered quite interesting. All but Light begin swatting at the raining swords. At the very least, they appear to be trying to minimize the rain upon the unnamed. What the chains can't handle, the unnamed moves with his fluidity and grace, like a dance, to try to strike away with his own spade shaped sword. Still. At the very least he's going to have some hefty bruises from the initial strikes. At the same time, it doesn't appear the swords have much of a chance of striking "blow the belt" as it were.=

=What does Light do then? Well it goes after Snow. It lashes out in ways similar to an angry predator. Once again from under his feet, he would find 'spikes' begin to erupt. Their maximum number seems to measure half of before. If Snow's not moving too quickly, he might even note they are approximately one-fifth the size of the other chains. The purpose of each 'spike'? They are to delay or lead Snow into the 'prime' chain Light.=

=All the while, the unnamed still has hair flashing gold. It's obvious his hair remains blue more often, but it's also obvious his hair is growing.=

"Third strike -- "

Though the blades were merely for the use of testing the opponent's defensive capabilities, Snow wasn't liking what he's seeing. But to not keep the opponent waiting for too long --

Swiveling his held blade around like what a conductor does with the stick, multiple blasts from the ground erupted some of the sword skywards, letting it trail in a free fall motion before it landed upon the path in which the Light Chain has taken.

If Snow can't destroy it --

Some of the swords were then intentionally aimed right for the links in the chains, stabbing it to the ground and restraining the Light chain from moving at all.

Then Snow'll lock it.

The spikes criss crossing beneath Snow's frozen ground was of no strategic importance to the wielder of ice. As he's standing still on the formed ice he made, the spikes from the ground can only attempt to break through the ice in vain, its integrity much stronger and with the environment affected to his standards.
But back to topic now.

His intent is to litter the arena with swords of his own, and to a certain degree of success, some were left within the confinements of where the Unnamed stood, giving him the opportunity to...

"It's not littering the ground with swords only."

A bright blue light washed over his blades, causing shadowy appearance to form on his body - like an after image. Raising the blade, he then struck one of the nearby blades to the sides, a sudden blast of energy ricocheting from that blade...

And using all the other blades as a network to transfer the strike right at the unnamed's body. To and fro the beam bounced, interlinking and cross weaving with other portions of its own beam as it refines and focuses the overall energy, finally raining towards the unnamed's sides like a fly caught in a web.

"....It's increasing the attack area to break through your chains."

Snow didn't let the ground be littered for no purposes. For all he cares - he just needs a medium to strike at the unnamed's defenses, and what better tactic to use than a network of blades that bounces the beams rapidly to the target?

Secretly the ground underneath shows signs of frost...and perhaps Snow isn't just going to try that new tactic out, without testing another hypothesis in his mind.

((Sorry. I thought you'd put that Snow was running in your last post. confused ))

=Yet again. Those two-toned eyes seem to play chameleon. As in they appear to have a gaze off in two, different directions. At the same time, one can't help but feel the full reach of those soul-piercing eyes remain on Snow. At least he might find it hard to deny. However the unnamed does it, he seems to have an eye on Light as swords rain down between each link. If the chain really cared, it might have swayed and bobbed around them. Instead it does something that, well, is similar to what Ice did some time ago. It forces chain links apart and splits. By this time, the tip on Ice has...'regrown'. Light? Well... Its tip is shooting at Snow like a projectile at a very high speed, easily avoiding any further swords falling from the sky while aiming to pierce some extremity. The rest of the chain just kind of 'slithers' back underground.=

=There's one thing that might disgruntle Snow right about the time the latest ice laser strike is about to land. To him and spectators, it might appear that the unnamed can either read minds or see into the future. Why? Those flower petals reach about halfway up his chest before an eruption of energy causes them to change their diameter in a way that within the vortex of petals there could be twenty or so persons standing quite comfortably. Other than that...it reaches up pretty high. As in there's no way to get over the barrier of...petals without going out of bounds. In fact, it stops right at sixty feet. To top it off, it even extends underground to the lowest point the tournament rules would permit. Actually maybe worse is any influence Snow had left in the sky is diminishing, at the very least at a rate far faster than he normally would.=

=The moment the ice laser strike hits the barrier, it begins swirling madly around it. It's almost as if it has been caught in a whirlpool but is being driven up into the sky rather than down into the depths. The frost? It extends along the outer edges of the barrier as if some ice shield were trying to be formed... What is the unnamed planning to have started setting this up just a little while ago? Beyond that...he's still gathering energy. All four chains are now taking up the four compass points around the unnamed... Actually. Scratch that. They gather around the apparent barrier. It's impossible to see through to where the unnamed actually is, and there's no reason to believe he's at the epicenter. That is...if Snow can figure out just what this barrier actually stops. Oh. He also has a rather nasty, sharp tip flying straight towards him like some sort of wild projectile.=

It's quite obvious to Snow that he's fighting against another immortal - regardless of how benign the opponent tries to explain it. The ice had absolutely no effect, the opponent seems to swell in proportion, and whatever the case...

Snow is not in the mood to be cautious and alert anymore. With a moment's wrath, blazes of fire bursted around Snow's body as the projectile arched forth, completely incinerating the chain of Light before it could even touch nor graze Snow's body in the first place. For what leftover remains that is coming forth towards Snow was blasted off course just from the force itself.

Unlike the counterparts of fiery flames that engulfs and burns through objects, the fire itself is composed in a white, fiery blast, obviously a cold aura which cannot be explained through phenomenons nor scientific causes. A touch that is able to burn things because of its abnormal, freezing temperature, the wielder of ice grabbed one of the nearby swords, yanking it off the ground and narrowing his eyes towards the seemingly immortal foe. Because the environment itself is in a cold natural environment - influenced primarily because of the hail of swords which reigned upon this arena - Snow wasn't wasting much of his energy, constantly rechanneling it and recycling it so he could reuse the wasted energy by just standing there, letting the swords itself be the main fuel for his power.

Clashing both swords together, the sparks left behind by the metallic contacts left a rude awakening to the Unnamed's almost invicible petals and barrier.

In what seems like a massive explosion, the entire freeze on the arena literally vanished in an implosion, with Snow at the epicenter of it. Ice shattered and were destructed upon the whim, as even the petals itself swayed and withered to its death - just by the cold alone.

And within the blast, as Snow slowly stood out, the countless swords were still littered upon the ground, set and primed for any necessary counters if necessary.

Snow has changed tactics.
All the wasted energy he has been using just to hit something that is a foolish cause was absorbed back into his body, recollected and charged for saving use. The main sword still in the sky was still aloft, keeping much of the symbols alive. Though diminishing, it didn't mean that the role of the behemoth is over - nay, for the fact is -

The leftover moisture still in the air slowly caused the essence of air to lack in quantity, as moisture is ripped out, and air that is not suited for human nor living life begins to pervade the area.

Snow's going to wait.

If the Unnamed cannot be touched, cannot be hit, struck, nor injured in any form or any way, then he'll wait for the unnamed to strike.

And that, is something which even the unnamed cannot fathom when Snow was on all offensive just a post ago. The unamed can't read the future. The unnamed is merely using psychological tactics to make Snow assume that he can read into the future, read all his moves...

And that, is something in which the Unnamed will not accomplish.

b*****d.

((... You make it sound like you misreading is my fault... Also. 'cold fire' can be explained, but I'd rather not go into details.))

=If the unnamed were to show any emotion, now he might sigh. The petals are only visible manifest of an energy that cannot be normally seen. They cannot wither nor die. The most the elemental force Snow is throwing against them can do is make them seem livelier. The barrier, as it were, is something to politely dissuade opponents from trying anything magical or elemental, possibly even pure energy. What might sadden the unnamed, if emotion were to be shown, is that Snow doesn't even realize that he has had several strikes land and has yet to figure anything out. All the unnamed has been doing is being extraordinarily efficient.=

=From within the barrier, he reaches over to check his shoulder. He might wince if there were emotion to be shown. He notes the bruising hasn't completely healed. The muscles and vascular tissue his shell has are recovering thanks to that energy he uses. Carefully. He checks his hair. It seems to have grown just past his shoulders, and it still has moments where it flashes to gold. From behind the veil of flower petals, he eyes Snow and his efforts. He moves his gaze to the sky to observe the reaction of the sword. Is this the limit? The unnamed returns his gaze to Snow. Can he really not rely on his own power? What value can be shown from this?=

Please pick up your toys. They might not do so well for you in the next phase of the fight.

=That same, strange voice rings out from everywhere. At least to Snow it would sound as if it echoes around him. The petals continue their strange swirl. The chains maintain their strange 'pose' around the diameter. A strange, disgruntled?, growl grows, and Light seems to return to its original form. The other three (Ice, Wind, Water) almost appear to be looking at the sword still remaining aloft in the sky. One question to answer. Since Light is whole once more, did that mean Snow's 'fires' disintegrated it the tip that became a projectile? ...rather did it mean something else has occurred to explain the disgruntled growl that just seems to envelope the area?=

=The ground gently rumbles. Is this a because of the strange build up in energy still occurring behind those flower petals?=

(( If you're trying to mock me, please say it in front of my face. I have no need to listen to remarks given by an opponent who looks down on others. ))

"...."

He has lost count in already how many people had mocked him before, regarding his abilities as mere "pathetic" or his weapons - "toys", by their standard. Having lost and tasting bitter defeat far more than the opponent ever knows, it was, technically, the last straw for Snow's bitter anger to hold back.

To hell with everything.
To hell with death, and to everything that marked him as a weak, pathetic fool.
To hell with you, and you're f*cking powers.

He began to walk towards the opponent, not caring about his own safety nor the dangers in which the chains can be. Be it sprouting underneath the ground, above in the air - even trapping Snow under the cage of death - to hell with it all.

Sheathing one sword into the scabbard left on his right hip, he cocked the other remaining sword to show the lethal edge of the blade before charging right at the Unnamed directly, not wavering off course and seemingly charging towards the manifestation of the petals which barred his path.

Swords upon swords were still embedded on the ground, making the running difficult but also keeping his motion uneven - occasionally moving to the left, then to the right as he arc and weaved through his own creations, the tip of his held blade pointed towards the barrier like a stab. With the rumble beneath the ground, Snow has no point in dodging it. Ground is a mobility factor, and the Unnamed controls it through his chains and the damned petals.

So why dodge it.
He'll slash the damn thing apart.
Why avoid the chains?
He'll break it in half.

Of course, Snow didn't forget about the Spaded Sword that the Unnamed was using. But since everything turned inward since the Blossoming Path unfolded, whether or not the Unnamed used the Sword in relation to the chains is not of Snow's concern.

His face is expressionless, and only the emotion of bitterness guided him through as he charged in what seemed like a suicidal assault towards the enemy's stronghold.

Is it suicidal or not?
Only the conflict and the clash of sword against sword can deem it to be yes or no.

=The rumbling ground is nothing but a warning. It's Nature's way of saying that a lot of energy is gathering up in one spot. The swords littering the ground might, at most, be jostled by the tremors which mean nothing beyond a, "Look out!" warning. The unnamed may have referred to the swords as 'toys', but that would only be because of how such a unique weapon had been duplicated to mass quantities and rained down. He'd call his own chains 'toys' if he were to indiscriminately abuse them like that. Of the four, Light was the only one, so far, to purposefully break itself. Because of that, it was able to rejoin that much easier. Ice was broken from Snow's attack, so it had to take careful time to heal. All four, including Water and Air, seem to just...watch Snow as he approaches.=

=The worst thing Snow seems to have right now is timing. That or the preparations made by the unnamed were just absurdly astute. Who could say for sure? Whatever the case was, he's been building up energy for a while now, and he was even exceptionally careful about forming a barrier to bar further energy based attacks, such as those of magical or elemental origin. Did that mean Snow's progress towards and through the petals would be barred? The type of energy the petals manifest, visually, from can, at most, cause a disruption to physical beings. It's why a slice from the spade-shaped sword can seem to paralyze even when direct contact is not made. In this barrier form, the most Snow runs across is measured resistance. The problem might be seen in the center of the barrier, the eye per say.=

=The unnamed doesn't come into Snow's vision immediately. It would appear the barrier is thicker than appearances might give it. Then again, there was no way to see through the veil from the side he's coming from. About halfway in, he might feel as if he's been suddenly grasped and shaken by something only to step into an open space completely unimpeded. He wasn't thrown. He wasn't pushed. He simply would step, at the same pace he was going through the resistance the barrier seemed to possess, within what might be described as the eye or center of the barrier. To his back and all around, there are swirling petals. At least that's what this visage manifest of energy appears. What he might want to take notice of is that the unnamed isn't in his direct field of vision. It's as if the diameter of the barrier had shifted so that the he wouldn't be at the epicenter. In fact, he's slightly off to Snow's left, as if the barrier had shifted to his right.=

Did you think it reckless to come through that? Did you think you would die?

=If Snow turns to face the unnamed, he might want to take notice of a few things. They all concern the unnamed. His hair is quite a bit longer. Interestingly, it seems to be staying gold longer and flashing to blue rather than what it was before. The end of the chain no longer appears to be penetrating the ground. There are vortexes of, seemingly, the same energy manifest the barrier converging on a single point near his left hand. What Snow might not notice is that he cannot manifest his control of ice within the barrier. As neat an effect as the petals gathering in vortexes upon a point near the unnamed, it's just that within the barrier.=

=A final note. It would seem the eye of the barrier has returned the scenery to that of a grassy plain. Not that the spectators could see. The petals act as a veil blocking sight of what is within.=

((Before you ask. Snow was not attacked, hit, thrown, hampered, damaged, or in any other way incident. Any and all 'feel'ing are due to the effects of passing through the barrier.))
PostPosted: Tue Apr 24, 2007 11:59 pm

(( Dammit...Gaia ate my entire post....))

Not even going to try to give a technical spec about how the blade works, and how his ability is gathered, focused, and then charged into a state of readiness due to the last narrative crash, the narrator decides to skip the two page long concept on Snow's past achievements and refinement to develop a method of attack that tries to overwhelm and strike hard at the enemy's exposure.

So, coughing and ignoring the beraged look on Snow's face once he realizes what the narrator has done, the narrator gets back to the situation in which Snow is thus charging through the barrier, the blade still pointed forward to act partially as a detector and a method of attack/defense - if - the Unnamed decides to attack as well.

Now. Back to topic.

The only thing Snow can say as he charged through the lethal petals, was that motion was almost a standstill for him. Resistance was so great that even he can't really move his limbs around like he used to, as if trying to run in a wind tunnel which is blasting speeds up to 60 miles per hour at him directly, in an approximate guess.

But once getting out into the open, imagine the look on Snow's face when he saw the insides relatively untouched, as if standing within the eye of a hurricane.

He heard the unnamed's voice.
Quickly whirling about to face the opponent, Snow tries again to deliver a slash towards the opponent's position, using his sword as a catalyst to fire a slash of ice towards -
Well, theoretically towards the foe.
However, the situation is turning for the worst. Not seeing nor feeling the slash burst out of the sword itself, Snow gave a side glance towards the weapon - only to see the aura surrounding the sword beginning to dissipate and be absorbed into the petals surrounding the two predators.

Realization struck.

"So that's why..."
No wonder the previous attacks didn't seem to work at all against the unnamed. The petals weren't some decoration, nor some corrosive agent - well, hopefully not.

"...Negation, is it?"
It would also explain why the beams never got to the unnamed, and why all the previous efforts against the unnamed were in vain. Technically, since Snow didn't see the unnamed get injured while he was calling forth the rain of blades, Snow was under the impression that the unnamed is yawning and batting it off as if it was an everyday routine.

An impression, that is.
He calmed himself, the rage boiling down a bit.

Cocking the blade to the side, Snow lowered it for a sec as he smirked at what the Unnamed has to say. "I've been cursed to die since the beginning of my existence. I have seen, met, and waltzed with Death more times than you can imagine. I have died many times, and suffered many years. What more does death have that I do not yet know? Unlike you..."

He raised the sword back up, holding it above his head with two hands this time. Knowing that it would leave his torso and lower parts vulnerable to attacks, the stance was very basic, and very effective in its own method.

"You, who are like the others...unlike you, why do you care for the meaning of death? You who has not seen the depths of hell, you who has not experienced the taste of being mortal and weak in comparison..."

The legs shifted slightly, spreading itself apart so that most of his center weight was poised on his left leg, while the right leg was barely touching the ground, allowing Snow fluid motion for something which has yet to happen.
The sheathed sword still worn on his right hip swayed along with his leg motions, and Snow gave a small 'hmph' under his breath.

"Death has no meaning for the likes of you. So come forth, and waltz with me. I'll show you what it is like to be killed by the fate of Death...the fate of being cursed to damnation by your own, filthy blood..."

Somehow, the mention of filthy blood was muttered to Snow himself, as if cursing something within his body that is lurking like death.

((Sorry. This is later than I anticipated. Apparently "lucky to be alive" translates to "constantly hounded by insurance and lawyers"...))

=The first question.=

It could be called 'negation'.

=The unnamed listens to what Snow has to say. By all outward appearances, he doesn't seem to be affected in the slightest. In that sense, it might mean he isn't insulted by the seeming 'lack' of understanding. That might be the best way to describe it.=

Do you speak of death or true death? When you say death, do you mean the Angel Death, the human term death, or the Reaper spread through legend as an uncaring, silent hunter and gatherer?

=Though the scenery before Snow seems as if it were the field they were initially on unaltered, it's actually more truthful to say it's been altered to remove the blades that fell earlier. It's not as if the spectators could see, and another truth is that they wouldn't hear either. The veil of seeming flower petals blocks the entire outside world from, well, being spectators. There is no point in the unnamed delaying either. Though the vortexes continue to converge on that point, he cannot shape that into an attack so long as they both are within Cherry Blossom. Why the questions?=

You sound so much like a certain young man I happened across. So full of hate, even using similar phrases as 'cursed blood' and descriptions as waltzing with Death.

=He pauses. When next the unnamed speaks, there is only one tone within his voice. It's as if the other two tones that had made his voice monotone and dull are silenced for a moment. The voice, now, almost sounds human, and the hint of emotion is unmistakably sad.=

In truth, Death has more meaning to me. Unfortunately. It is not because I can experience death as you know it.

=The unnamed once again enters one of his defensive stances. He angles his left side back while edging his right foot forward. He almost looks like he's ready to spring, and, when considering how he can move, might indicate he's ready for some rather intricate and interesting arches.=
PostPosted: Fri Apr 27, 2007 10:11 pm

"Hmph."

Though faint, it is obvious that his reach of control is weakening as the Unnamed continues to probe Snow with more questions and statements. But with the growth of the petals crisscrossing to and hither, Snow wasn't naive enough to barge out of the destructive cyclone swirling around the two opponents.
Especially when the Unnamed seems to not be wary of Snow being inside this affected field.

Unfortunately, that meant that Snow will have to fight in a desperation move, since none of his elemental nor arcane methods would possibly work within this realm of negation. Especially since his swords has shown him that, when he tried to summon a slash of ice a few moments before.

"I speak of is the life that ceases to be, that has the fate of ending earlier than any cause deemed by death. Unlike old age which brings the mortal meaning of death..."

As if something bitter shot through Snow's mind, his sword showed signs of shaking.

"My life has been destined to end before I reach old age. Much too short to have meaning at all..."

He pointed the tip of the lethal weapon towards the Unnamed's position, shifting his stance so that his body took a sudden basic kendo stance - right leg in front, left leg behind and with the toes pointing towards the enemy. The sword is now held on his left hand as he then pulled it back somewhat, having it angled with his left arm held slightly bent in front of him.

Unconsciously the right hand is holding the base of the scabbard on his right hip, gripping down on the hilt and ready to unsheathe it on a moment's whim - perhaps.

"We mortals begin to die the moment we come into existance. And I, a demon of this act, shall deny myself the right to die without a struggle."

The eyes took over a glassy expression, and the tone of his voice was surprisingly calm and focused. For Snow, he was beginning to think again with his mind.
From all the attacks he had dealt with against the Unnamed, there is some factors which he must consider. One - is the fact that the unnamed can use the chains to his will - but most of the time lengthen it absurdly to burrow or act independently from the base of the mind itself.
Which meant that the ground surrounding Snow is not safe to stand on, nor to use as support, if the Unnamed tries another burrowing trick with the chains.

Second.
The Spaded sword which the unnamed held had unknown factors which Snow needs to take heed of. Seeing how the Unnamed is preparing for another sprint, it could only mean that the chains will be a diversion, while the sword - will be the main weapon for the assault.

Fine.

The cloak flapped against the wind caressing nearby as Snow took a step forward with his right toe, using it to balance his weight about. Unlike last time when he charged, he's on high alert this time.

For the Unnamed would not likely strike at Snow if he doesn't make the first move....
Unless...

=The unnamed watches Snow. He still doesn't appear to show signs of emotion. From what was said, he can easily guess without any kind of hint from certain...other things that the 'mortal', as he called himself, wouldn't be in the mood to talk any further. If past indications are anything, there's a very good reason Snow only took one step forward rather than rush headlong. This time the unnamed speaks with his usual speech, that strange dull, monotone voice created from three, separate tones.=

What you have seen thus far are acts born of my opponent's desire to rely on things other than his own strength.

=It's not that the unnamed is speaking to Snow as if he isn't there. He's trying to hint at things without revealing them completely. Namely. The actions of the chains, specifically splitting and 'growing' through the ground were born from the elemental uses against the unnamed. Within the seeming whirlwind of petals is another world without leaving the time/space they were occupying. Though the area looked cleaner, it was the same, exact area they were fighting in before. In the instance of Snow walking into it, the petals began acting as something akin to negation even or especially within. What the unnamed was shaping is, in effect, put on hold until such a time as Snow leaves the barrier or the the whole thing crashes down for some reason. To someone else, Cherry Blossom might be described as a double-edged sword. To the unnamed, that is a wholly inaccurate description. This being, mainly, because there is one effect he can definitely use all that energy for; though, it would really be of neither aid nor hindrance.=

=The unnamed knows well enough the reach and effectiveness of two weapons. Behind his back, he slackens the chains around his left hand. Though Snow might not be able to tell, the chains he saw outside the barrier did not follow him within. The unnamed even makes sure to move his right arm in such a way that it might look like he were readying himself to make a corkscrew-like attack. It doesn't look very effective from an offensive point of view as such a stance would leave him fatally open when he did lunge forward. However. It does match the fluidity of movement and defensive stature he tends to take. Perhaps a hidden hint could be how he carefully 'digs' his left heel as if preparing to take force. Even still, he looks for openings about Snow. If what the unnamed is doing is testing beings he runs across, perhaps this entire methodology is working towards that one goal.=

"Strength is overrated. What one needs is the will to win, and the price to pay for each and every victory."

Thinks were locking in place, and Snow could begin to see the Unnamed's tactics being composed almost completely on the defensive, or dependant on counters. Using small lapses of weakness or gaps in an offensive move, Snow then saw that the Unnamed isn't the type of person to rush and strike - rather, he's the type that goes with the turtle tactic; Defend, retaliate, and build up such a strong defense that an offensive is useless against the fortification.

Which meant that for Snow, rushing in with a charge or a run would be to the Unnamed's advantage. So, to top it off...

Snow slowly took a step forward again. Then another. Then another. And instead of running, Snow was striding towards the Unnamed at a slow pace, the blade held evenly in front of him, with still his arm bent from holding the blade. Shifting the footing, his left leg was in the lead this time, keeping his pace relatively slow and absurdly easy to counter.

Secretely, Snow was untying the string holding his scabbard in place on his right hip, letting it slacken and allow him...

All in all, Snow was careful with the ground as well, walking as if treading through a minefield...

=At this point, a show of emotion would have the unnamed smiling. He doesn't. It's just what would occur if he were to show it. Why? Snow is responding correctly to the situation at hand. He's not panicking. He's not committing any foolish acts. Finally after some poking and prodding, it would seem that which the unnamed has been seeking is starting to be shown. Though Snow doesn't realize it, those chains won't and can't attack him at this point. If he leaves the barrier, he'd become fair game. Not that there's any real reason to warn him.=

=If anything, the unnamed is calculating. He has the chain just slacken enough to use it as a whip. It won't move quite of its own volition at this point and instance. His sword is ready for an easy parry and counter. He keeps careful track of where Snow has his two blades. In either victory or defeat, he has a true agenda. Not that anybody knows or needs to thus.=
