The fifth eldest let out a small yip of pain as bright lights, at least compared to the warm darkness he'd been in moments ago, snapped at his eyes through still closed eyelids. Giving a small grumble of protest, he buried his head back into the throng of his siblings and searched blindly for the spot he'd been feeding from moments before. Hunger was a new sensation, one he disliked very much along with the pain of light. But at least the later was fading over time if only very slowly, and the former could be cast aside if only he could get some more milk in him.
Somehow he seemed to find his spot -or maybe one of his sibling's, hard to say at this point- and began to suckle again. Warmth. Eh, not as much as before where food was constant and he was content, but the large mass before him -mother?- and his many brothers and sisters around him defiantly helped make up for the loss of comfort, or at least enough not to complain right yet.
No, any complaints could wait till later when he was full and up and not needing to worry about losing his place to his siblings.

The second youngest let out an irritated squeal. What was this? Even though the den was dim inside, the pup compared it to the complete darkness inside her mother, and the light hurt her eyes very much. She buried her nose amongst the large group of siblings, trying to rid herself of the painful brightness.
But then a new sensation grew, starting as an uncomfortable feeling in her stomach, expanding into a painful desire. Food. She needed food. Instinct kicked in suddenly, and she squirmed as best as she could towards the big warm furry thing that she assumed was her mother. Upon reaching the mass of warm fur, she nosed around before finding a vacant spot for her, then immediately latched on and began to rid herself of the pangs in her stomach. No one would take her spot until she was done.
