rainyeyes29 Ceribri Freaj Personally... I don't mind, so long as they have an impressive mop of curls and are reasonably hyperactive. If it were up to me....I'd probably wouldn't mind seeing Hugh Laurie as the Doctor..although most (Americans) have already typecast him as another doctor. See, the problem with this is that we need an unknown to step into the role. Otherwise we wouldn't look back and say, "Hey, that's the [number] Doctor!", we'd say, "Hey, that's [actor] playing the Doctor!" Anyone make sense of that? Before I saw House, I had Hugh Laurie typecast as the lovable, well-meaning buffoon. I think that due to his ability to go from that to Gregory House, he might make an okay Doctor, though I agree that an unknown and good actor would definitely be absolutely wonderful. ^^ If, in some alternate universe, he was an unknown.. gonk I would love to see him as the Doctor. Although I'd hate for it to be like slapstick comedy or something with a fake plastered smile... *shudder* Now I've got his role of House in my mind, I could see him as more of a 'Nine personality'. Desolate, guilt-ridden, perhaps.... sweatdrop

How tacky is it to say that I should be the companion? ^_^ I'd like to see an ethnic actor take over the Doctor. Maybe a little, quirky, Hispanic guy. Don't ask me who exaclty. Yeah, He'd have to keep some of his Britishness (is that a word?) but I still think that it would be a cool twist.

I think almost everyone would love to be a companion to the Doctor. Except perhaps Roobarb and Ten. (see his latest journal update rofl )

Yeah, He'd have to keep some of his Britishness (is that a word?) but I still think that it would be a cool twist. I read a fanfic about, oh, I think he was supposed to be the Eleventh or Twelfth. And he was sort of Hispanic, but as far as anyone could tell he was Indian. It's not like he's got any particular accent or surname! 3nodding
But if we're going to start talking about what'd be tacky, if Tennant were to leave at the end of this season, and an Indian or Hispanic or whatever guy took over the part while Agyeman was still around, it would look a hell of a lot like they're trying much too hard.

Actually, I always thought that Anthony Stewart Head would make a pretty good Doctor. I was actually rather holding out for him to get the role when the new series was first announced. Then again, he just worked so brilliantly as a bad guy...

Just sent a bit of shivers down my spine watching him do that scene in the poolroom.... 3nodding

Okay, after giving this some (minimal) thought, here's who I'd cast if I were in charge of Doctor Who. The Doctor: Gary Oldman. Sure, he'd probably make a better Master, but poor Gary keeps getting stuck playing the bad guy, and he seemed decent as Sirius Black, so why not? Motherly Companion: Laura Frasier. She played the girl Tennant was always chasing after in Casanova. I picked her because... I wasted an hour and that was the first person that came to mind. gonk Man of Action Companion: Hugh Jackman. Taking the role of Ian (or Jamie, Captain Jack, etc.) is Wolverine. You got a problem with that, bub? Annoying Brat Girl Companion: Evanna Lynch. I've never seen her act, but she looks like she'd make a good Susan/Vicky/Dodo-type character in that Luna Lovegood publicity photo. Or a Jo Grant. She seems loony enough. The Master: Hugo Weaving. Agent Smith as a renegade Time Lord. Just because. The Rani: Helena Bonham Carter. Because she plays a lot of weirdos, like Bellatrix Lestrange in that new Potter flick, yet still manages to look hot. Except in Planet of the Apes, where she looked like a big monkey. Adric: Keanu Reeves. In comic books, dead sidekicks inevitably return from the grave. Usually as psychos hellbent on revenge against their former mentor. So he's an evil Adric with the powers of 'the One'. Bogus! President of Gallifrey: Judi Dench. Gallifrey might have been destroyed, but the High Council managed to escape, and 'M' is their boss.

You thought that through WA-AY too well... though I have to say, a lot of those people would be far too famous to go into Doctor Who.
That said, I'd have no complaints whatsoever about Gary Oldman being the next Doctor! 4laugh
