"I wouldn't know, She hasn't chosen to speak with me." He said simply, "I'm glad to hear about Kenji. They're related, Malen and he?" He asked, watching as a large leaf nosed bat coasted in from under a tree, seeking insects. The winged mammal fluttered over and into Phara's face, examining her.

Phara smiled at the bat holding a finger up to it to perch on it if wished. "Mmm I don't think they are blood related but they grew up together so in a way yah they are related."

"MM, well, that makes sense I suppose. I recalled Kenji mentioning something about Malen being his sister." Jack said quietly, observing the bat.

The winged mammal ignored Phara's hand for a moment, eyes focused on something above her brow. It hovered in midair for a moment, then lunged into her face, grabbing onto something that had gone unnoticed right at the peak of her hairline. As it withdrew, it became apparent that a flying termite had discovered the appeal of Phara's hair, but which was now a midnight snack. Crunching on its prize merrily, the bat took the moment to perch on her finger, licking its chops.

Phara stayed calm as it lunged and smiled as it feasted. "Well thank you for getting that out of my hair. THough I don't know how it got in their in the first place." She rubbed it feet gently. She like bats they where intresting and could be great friends.

Jack watched the bat with interest. Bat anatomy was so interesting! It was a marvel really that evolution had provided the necessary appendages and conditions to allow a living being to defy the laws of gravity and actively take to the sky at whim. For that he had to thank evolution and its properties.

The bat murred at the gentle stroking of its feet, wiggling its toes one at a time. The small mammal opened its wings and stretched, yawning a little before it began to lightly groom itself, dark eyes tightly shut.

"I wonder if it lives around here." Jack inquired aloud, scanning the nearby trees for more signs of flying animals.

"It proabably does." Phara drew her finger close to her body smiling at the creature taking the chance to look at one close up. It was so cute! "Hmm do you think he likes me or just thinks I'm a branch?" She asked.

Jack peered at Phara with a bemused expression.
"Why don't you ask him?"

Phara stared at the bat and then up at Jack."Your kidding right? How would you ask a bat about well anything?"

Jack's face cracked into a wide grin.
"Fine, i'll ask him." he offered, walking closer to Phara. Jack positively towered over her, as he did to everyone he knew. Crouching down, he brought eye level to the little bat, who cracked open a dark brown eye to look at him.

"Hello there! I couldn't help noticing you're perched on Phara here. She wants to know if you like her." He said, to which the bat turned to peer at the vampiress. He looked back and forth for a moment before letting out excited chitters.

"I think it's safe to conclude that he likes you." Jack said, standing again.

Phara stared at the bat and then at Jack before smiling. "Well I like him to. Do you have a name I should call you?" She asked joyfully. She was talking to a bat did that make her mad or something?

The bat didn't reply anything. After all, how often did wild animals name one another? They recognized each other certainly, but never called each other by names. The mammal in question stretched out its wings before tucking them back in, peeking at Phara.

Jack said nothing further, eyes searching the moon yet again. It was so quiet here.

Phara hummmed. "How about Chitter?" She asked stroaking the bat's toes. "Something up Jack?" She asked looking up at him.

The bat squeaked, and chittered quietly in approval before resuming his grooming, toes flexing slightly at the contact. It wouldn't be long before he'd have to hunt again, bats needed a large supply of insects to survive, largely composed of moths, though dragonflies, mosquitos and crane flies certainly made it onto the plate too. Termites too, when they could be found.

Jack looked down at Phara, giving her a gentle smile. The look in his eyes was empty and encompassing, swallowing every image into the abyss known as his mind.
"Nothing in particular, my dear." He replied simply, looking away so she wouldn't become uneasy with his glance. "I wonder how many bats live here. Does Chitter have family?" He queried absently, listening to the far off hooting of an owl.

"Well Chitter do you have a family?" She asked leaving Chitter's toes alone so the small creature could go on and hunt some more. Perhaps tomorrow she could find some insects for Chitter to eat.

Chitter took his leave, dropping from Phara's finger, diving to the ground pulling up at the last moment to shoot itself into the night sky like a brown bullet, wings powerfully pumping, rocketing the small mammal off into skies unknown.
Jack was distracted by a cricket that landed near his foot.
"I wonder if Chitter would have eaten it." He mused, watching the small brown bug leap off, chirping a mating call to any lady crickets in the area. The owl hooted again, somewhere to their right.
