"That's right, Memory... I told your mother that I would never let anything happen to the three of you and I meant it." He nodded slowly as he leaned down, touching the tip of his nose lightly to the fretting alicorn's side.

He then turned to Nostalgia, shaking his head slowly. "No, I do not think it horrible of you... It is your decision, as it has always been. All I can do, as a friend, is offer you my support as I have already done. I won't abandon you or your foals, Nostalgia."

Jean-Claude finally gained control over his body.. And because his daughter was now at the mercy of the black stallion he'd never meant, he was angry.

He walked, but with a trot, as if trying to get there as fast as he was willing. He threw back his head, rearing a bit as he got to his daughter. The little filly with the purple dress.

"It would be lovely, Naina, if you could back away from the black stallion."
His voice held malice, and a secret threat to it, that was slightly angry.

"Dear Nostalgia, do you really need defense from a filly? From a little foal who could do so little damage? Oh, Ma chardonnet.. Im ashamed for you.."

He wasnt exactly being mean, but more or less, just not understanding her fear from her own blood.
True, his blood ran through Naina's veins as well.. But then again, it ran in the other foals blood as well.

Naina looked at the mare, cocking her head at the familiar language of which she spoke. She lifted her ears, keeping purple eyes on the mare.

"I asked first.." She said, pouting.

She looked to her daddy, relieved he had finally arrived down with her. She didnt neccessarily like the big black stallion who looked at her as if she was a peice of trash.. She wasnt trash.
She was royalty, and royal blood flowed through her veins.. Because her daddy was noble.

She stared at her former mate, wondering how his mental state was, since he had pinned her emotions and feelings so off the mark. Was this the stallion she truly had believed herself to have once been in love with?

"If there's anything I need defense from, it would be from you, Jean-Claude. And to be ashamed... " She paused collecting her thoughts. "To dress up a filly like myself? What are you trying to prove? Do you miss me so much that you must parade our daughter around to look like me?"

She shifted from one side, ignoring the weight of her chains as she noticed the two foals to her side approaching the rest of the group cautiously. She would introduce them to their father, but he had lost all hope of her teaching them to respect him. She herself would allow them to decide their feelings for their unknown father... she would have no say in how they felt about him.

"Memory. Trevalyn. I want you to meet your father." Nostalgia said coldly, her lavender eyes never leaving Jean-Claude's.

Memory nodded towards her brother and took a step forward as he did, glancing over to watch the dark stallion who was looming over them protectively. She was very grateful for his prescense... he and Momma and Trev always made her safe. But who was this stallion Momma was talking to? And why did that little filly look so much like her?

She paused in her walk, confused by her mother's words. Did she... did she just call that other filly her daughter? But-but... Trev and herself were Momma's only children. There wasn't a third foal!

The small foal pressed closer against her brother, watching her mother warily as she addressed the stallion, and then spoke to her and her brother.

".... my... my father?" She stuttered. What in the world was a father?

Trevalyn shook. He knew what a father was supposed to be, he thought. It sounded like mother, so it must be the stallion equivalent. It was what Draven was, the guardian, right? Someone who took care of a family, and was nice to them, and... Kept them safe. The stallion in front of him did not make him feel safe. he was a stranger, and the filly he was with was just awful rude. But at least he knew now she hadn't stolen momma's dress, it was the stallion's fault she was wearing it. He shifted, his mind pondering the situation.

Still, he tossed his head, holding it the way he saw his momma do sometimes when she was mad at him and Memmy. High and proud, with scary eyes. "Who do you think you are, to talk to my momma like that?" he snapped, his voice petulant and tinny. Childish. "I don't care if you're a father, or whatever. You can be polite." He bared tiny fangs at Jean Claude, small copies of the stallion's own teeth. "Same goes to you." he snapped at the filly. "I heard you yelling at my Mother, and I won't let you do it again!" He braced himself, his hooves digging into the dirt, not knowing what to expect from his sudden aggressiveness in the situation.

Pale eyes narrowed as he continued to glare uneasily at the other stallion. He didn't trust one whose judgement could be so terribly off. He would never hurt a child. Nostalgia would have never let him near Memory or Trevalyn were he capable of such a thing. His gaze had never left the other male beyond his first glimpse of the filly... Children were precious and never, never would he look upon one as if they were anything but; no matter who their father was.

"A father is supposed to be a role model for children; someone to be held in high esteem. You are right, Trevalyn, there is no excuse for rudeness but it would not do you any good to treat them in the same way." He dipped his head down for a brief moment, gently nudging the colt's shoulder with his nose. "Show this father of yours that you have learned something from your mother, little warrior."

His gaze then returned to that of the other stallion. "Is this how you would have your foals view you, Jean-Claude? As a stallion who bullies mares, leading his children to believe that their mother would have any reason at all to fear them? 'Mother is the name for God on the lips and hearts of all children'." His eyes narrowed further. "Do you understand?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:21 pm

"If that were true, then I would have given Naina no chance of ever knowing what she is.. Who she is... If I wanted to bully mares, or females for that matter, I would not trust myself with my young one.."

He eyes fell on Nostalgia. He shook his head. Naina did not need to know her, and even if he did just get introduced to his other children, he felt the strangest urge to leave. Nostalgia had made no attempt to seeing her filly.. And he wanted to hurt her for it. She yes, she had seen the dress, but how could one mare be so far off? He sure as hell didnt dress her.. He truly despised the dress.. But let Nos try and rid the filly of the dress, and let her see how far she got. The dress was Naina, and Naina was the dress.

"Be that as it may Nostalgia.. I wish not to discuss the 'dress' issue as one might say. Why can we not be adults, and who gave your son such a tongue?!" He asked, sending a glare at the colt, after he had heard what the young one had said.

"Naina," he said, voice cold.
"Meet your mother."

Naina looked at the mare, then back at her daddy. She had just heard him right, yes? Then how could he possibly tell her who was her mother, if she knew not, what a mother was.

She cast a glare at the foal called Trevalyn.

"If you talk to me or my daddy like that again, you wont have any legs to stand on." She said, getting her defenses from her daddy, but her temper from her mother.

"I am not rude, and if your mare had never have approached me so coldly, maybe I wouldnt have yelled."

She looked at her mother, and cocked her head, eyes narrowed.

"How dare you speak to my father like that.. If you really are a .. mommy.. How could you stand to be that way towards him?
I'm afraid I dont understand, because instead of a mother, all I see is a mare.."

She felt his cold gaze fall upon her once again, a gaze similar to that she received when she had broken off their commitment to one another. This time, however, she felt no guilt in her actions, in her remarks, in her way of thinking. If this is the way he was going to act, how he was going to treat the children that were just as rightfully his as they were hers, then so be it.

"Fine. We'll ignore the dress, if it pleases you that much."

Her lion-like tail swished against the back of her legs, and she leaned down to nuzzle her angry son, in attempts to calm his rage. She knew Draven was a sensible stallion and was intelligent enough to know when the proper time for fighting and the sort should occur, but her young colt was still growing in the world, and she wasn't about to unleash him on an unsuspecting stallion. As hard as it was for her to admit, she wasn't sure how Jean would react to the colt's attack.
"I believe he is just as much YOUR son as he is mine, dear Jean." she replied quietly, raising her head up to face him once again. "I raised him no differently than I raised Memory. I allow both of my children to speak their mind, for holding it back will only cause troubled thoughts and heavy hearts. I haven't spoken a word of your existence, so they're basing their thoughts and opinions on what is being presented to them at the current moment. The only thing that could change their attitude would be you yourself."

Leaning down, she risked the chance at getting her muzzle snapped at by the furious filly, and gave the foal a smile. "Hello Naina," she said calmly, looking into the beautiful eyes of her youngest daughter. "It's a pleasure to meet you, although I fear you don't see me in a very good light at the moment. Perhaps one day, though, we shall get to know each other a bit better?"

The name rolled off her tongue, and Nostalgia mentally practiced repeating it. The name was different, but she expected no less from the stallion she had once been courted by. The name, however, fit appropriately with her emotionally-passionate daughter's appearance, and Nos longed to reach out to her, despite the hatred the foal probably felt towards her, and nuzzle lovingly upon the foal she had cried endless nights over losing.

Memory was overwhelmed with what was going on around her. She wanted everything to go back to the normal, quiet, happy morning they had all been sharing only minutes ago, instead of all of this fighting, bickering, and talking. It hurt her head, and she moved to cower next to the dark colored stallion for support, since her brother seemed bent on taking on the stallion nearly three times his size that stood in front of them.

She didn't think the tan stallion was really as mean as he sounded... after all, he did have a foal of his own, right? How could any Father be mean to their daughter, if Fathers were the male versions of Mommies? It would be impossible!

Unable and unwilling to speak her mind, Memory crouched down and pressed against Draven's side, watching the commotion continue.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 25, 2007 8:55 pm

Draven nudging his shoulder was the only thing that kept him from going at the filly. "I'd like to see you try, Naina." his voice was mocking. But he didn't step forward and bite at her, like he wanted to. No, he was better than that. He saw Memmy cowering at Draven's side and stepped back, flashing his teeth at the filly one more time. They'd meet again, sometime, and she wouldn't be so lucky. No, Trevalyn would keep the anger he felt towards these two strangers tramped down deep inside. He wouldn't make his momma and Memmy sad.

His eyes were chips of violet ice, watching the filly and the stallion. Yes. Show them that his mother had raised him with manners. He took a thin, quiet breath, inhaling to calm himself, and exhaling to let the rage in his blood drain. Breathe in, breathe out.

The two strangers weren't his family, no matter if they were blood or not. His family was right here, behind him; They were all that mattered. And if his mother wasn't visibly upset, then he didn't need to take the offense. If these strangers thought they were something special, let them.

It wasn't the dress that made his mother, the dress was nothing to her but something pretty, that kept her warm. The dress was a part of his mommy, but his momma was so much more than the outside. The outside could change, but it was the inside that mattered. Naina was nasty inside, he decided, with childlike firmness. His momma wasn't. Even though it made him upset to see something so ugly dressed up like his momma, at least he recognized that just because she had a copy of her dress, didn't mean she was like his momma in any other way. Any important way.

He remained silent for the moment, attempting to set a good example for Trevalyn. There was a time for all things and this was not the time for a fight... At least, not with a mare and three children present.

Feeling the movement of the filly beside him he turned, dipping his head down to give her a gentle nuzzle as well. He voiced soft words of reassurance to the little one. "There is nothing for you to be afraid of, Memory. Neither your mother nor I would let anything happen to either you or Trevalyn. That is a part of what family is about."

Jean-Claude quietly accepted the forgetting of the dress Naina wore so proudly. He was gracious that it had been forgotten. He wasnt a bad stallion, but times were catching up, and even scaring the stallion.

His daughter had turned out so much like his old nemesis. Alluring, and often times, seemingly kind. It scared him, and he knew he'd have to break Naina of these thoughts.. And maybe a gentle mare was what she needed.

"I appreciate the thought. Naina has never known what a mother was. I have spoke of you.. Said your name.. But thought it best to keep the word mother from leaving my lips. I have spoke of you in nothing bubt kindness. Bitter words only left my lips away from our filly. I know quite well they are both my children.."

He said, casting his eyes on the foals who looked as if they hated him already.. Wasnt this an odd change of pace? He had wanted his first appearance to them, to be a happy one.. Now it seemed they were poisoned against him.

"But I doubt very much they'd ever truly care for me as a father.. Nor acknowledge me as any part of family."

He said, looking back at Nostalgia.

_________________________________________________

Naina looked at Trevalyn, with seething hatred towards him. She had never hated something so much.. She hated that someone didnt like her.. and as it seemed, he was family. That hurt the filly worse. She was much to young to feel this way.

Naina cast her purple eyes she'd gained from her mother, onto the mare whom had just been announced as her mother.

"Miss.. Not that I dont dislike you.. I dont see you in any sort of light.. This is all very overwhelming.. Im not quite sure how Im supposed to feel.. But if you are the very mare I've been hoping to see all my life... then I could never see you badly.."

She said, speaking somewhat honestly.

She cast her eyes to the ground. Fearful. These strangers, other than 'mother', of course, didnt like her.. And their eyes on her, told her as much. But what had she done to be hated?! She'd done nothing but grow scared of the small herd.

"If you are my mother.. if you are my blood.. Then I dont see why the others should despise me so.. Im still of you right? But if I am truly now, a sister.. Then why does everyone look at me, like I am no one, and deserve to be that way?"

Nostalgia shook her head her eyes raisng to meet his face, though her head remained level with her middle child.

"It's for you to change their minds, Jean. I have nothing to do with it. If anything I would think you'd be up for the challenge... taking on a son that's as spirited as yourself. As for Memory... I don't recall her ever saying anything negative towards you. Are you putting doubts in her mind before she can even think them up? It sounds like you're not giving them a chance, not the other way around."

Her lavender eyes dropped down to meet once again with her little mimic.

Gently she nipped the tussle of hair on the filly's head, and pulled it back behind her ear. "You speak far too much like an old nag like myself than any carefree foal I've ever met. Perhaps if you got to know them better, all three of you would be less hesitant towards each other."

Memory nodded her head in understanding as Draven spoke. She knew that he would protect their little herd, at no matter what cost. The little filly just couldn't shake off the weird feeling of seeing this... father, as he was named. He looked just like Trev did, only bigger, and the small filly that was called Naina looked just like Momma. She didn't hate either horse.. she was just very very confused at what to do, at how to think. Keeping to Draven's side, she let the others do the talking, and she continued to watch.
