"I never meant to suggest we should split up...I don't know where my own family is and you're in no state to travel alone, dear one. But maybe we should remain friends. If these feeling continue to develop over time...I don't want to say I've given you my heart only to find out it's just a phase. It'd hurt us. I never want t hurt you, Dumu."

Sighing, he tossed his head to get strands of his mane out his eyes. Restless and unsure.

"Ewan, I would never hurt you. I know so much about you already, I have since we first met. I have seen some of the things you have gone through... I can relate as well. I assure you, I'll never hurt you," Dumu sighed and hung his head. He was right, Umo was wrong, he had a feeling if he had admitted his true feelings he would be hurt. Curse him... never take advice from him again. "Sorry for bringing it up then."

Dumu remained pinned under Ewan's paws. His head turned a bit, his mane falling over his eyes. With a slight sigh, he looked back up and smiled the best he could.

"...Plan to get off of me anytime soon?"

Ewan did as requested and got off him, sitting down a few steps away.

Dumu sat up and dusted the dirt and grass as much as he could from his fur, his tail flicking over his feet. His silver eye seemed a bit more dull than usual and his mane just hung over his face, eyes closed as he cleaned himself off the best he could.

"So... what do we do now? We were going somewhere, right?"

"Well, we could head in the same general direction as before. It hits a herd migatory path at some point...I'll teach you how to hunt when we get there?" Raising a paw to his mouth, his licked away a smear of dirt from his white fur, waiting for a response. His emotions were tumbling and turning inside, but Ewan was trying to get them back to buisness as usual. Friends, companions, travelling together.

"I suppose. I am strong, but when it comes to hunting... I'm just another cub."

He looked toward the general direction of where they have been heading since they've been traveling together. Today was gonna be like any other, eat, hunt, rest, drink, move on... just now, there would be an awkward air around them. At least to Dumu.

"What if we press further? Will we be closer to your destination?"

"Don't really have one. Do you?" Ewan had no idea where his family was, save Saburi - the sister he'd never met who was always going to be lost. He thought of what his mother had said about her reasonably often and worried...his family always came back. Except her. Dumu better not do a Saburi and vanish no matter how awkward today was going to be.

Dumu just continued to stare into the distance, thinking about what had just went on. Was he too quick? Was he not as truth as his heart was? What went wrong? Or was Ewan different than what he had thought? Time... he must give him time and bring it up again. But will he be hit back down into the pits of his heart? Dumu clung to his heart to prevent it from sinking. It was not the time to get depressed. He had to keep a strong head and keep moving. Ewan was all he had, he was not ready to lose him. Not now, not ever.

"So we are just vagebounds wandering?"

Hey, that's want we Huruma's do." Ewansiha Huruma winked, then regretted it. Maybe THAT was why they were now stuck being awkward and waiting to see if the feelings were a fad. Because he'd been using his charms and practically flirting with Dumu ever since they'd met. Maybe it was all his fualt....maybe he's led teh red male on...

Oh great. Now he had a whole other series of worried thoughts and ideas to persue

"Huruma? What's that? A pride or a family title?"

This must have been another one of those thoughts that Ewan had blocked from him otherwise he'd know it. What was going on now? What was it that 'Huruma's' do? A bit of anger grew at the thought. Break other's hearts? Push others away? With another sigh, he looked back at Ewan with the best face he could, the best normal one.

"My mother didn't have a name until far into her adulthood. Her friend-sister named her Rahima. Huruma means the same thing as my mother's name and I chose to take it along with hers. My siblings did when we were cubs, as a joke, but I kept it. I want to be like my mother, y'know? Compassionate and caring, but also a traveller. She's seen so much of the world, Dumu...and unlike me she didn't get her arse lost." Ewan offered a small smile. There. That was one of his innermost thoughts, something he'd guarded best.

"Family title. Because we all have a wanderlust."

Dumu could not help but chuckle at the explaination of the name and of his mother's past. It seems like they shared a lot in common. He smiled back and nodded.

"I did... until that was my partner was taken from me. I guess I am with you now."

"Yeah...one day you should meet Nogea, my twin. I think you'd get on well."

"Your own family member? That would be nice... think he'll... you know, like me a bit?"

Dumu stared down at his paws and sighed. He just hoped that he didn't want him to leave if he saw Dumu with his twin brother.

"Can't see why not? As I said, I think you'd get on well." Ewan stopped for a moment and scented the breeze, then it was back to walking. Nothing interesting. An average day except for their relationship-friendship turmoil

Dumu raised to his feet and stayed by Ewan's side closely. He looked at him and smiled. Friends. Companions.

"How about we find your twin brother then? We seem to be wandering anyway."

"Oh if fate makes us meet him, I'll be pleased...but I was thinking of seeing the sights. The jungles. The deserts. The sea. Once I've got you fit to survive alone - unless you'd want to come see the world with me?" He shrugged, unsure if he wanted a yes or a no. Dumu was his dearest friend even if he confused Ewan's heart. Surely he couldn't not want to...they were a team, right...

Dumu seemed to brighten a bit more when Ewan had proposed the offer to come with him to see the world. He could not ask for anything else. If anyone were looking for him then his father could find him. The younger amle smiled and nuzzled him slightly.

"I would love to see the world with you. The jungles, the deserts, the seas, and whatever comes our way. I am sure we can take anything the gods through at us, right?"

"Right." Ewan nudged Dumu's forehead with his own as they walked, a common sign of affection, and broke out a real smile. There now, that was back to normal! Ignore all grumpy thoughts. Zip, zilch, nada, zeeero grumpy thoughts. Bukbe on the grumpy thoughts.

Dumu chuckled and lost a step at the sudden gesture of affection. With a new fire burning inside of him, it was just another day of the two. He smirked and threw himself at Ewan once again, this time.... he was not going to lose to a "lazy bum."

Ewan was happy enough to start up the playful fighting once more, snarling as if viciously but with smiling eyes and with soft paws~
