kasacoon oh, forget speed, thats for punk rock. it how hard you play, just like dimebag did. r.i.p dimebag. I agree with the whole R.I.P. Dimebag, but he actually did play fast. And another thing, speed isn't just for punk rock.

have you heard Zeppelin's Heartbreaker solo? Jimmy Page didnt need to super-mega-sweep pick at all times, all he needed was that solo and he put him at #2 on my fastest players list, Michael Angelo Batio is fastest, two necks at once is crazy

slaytalera hylianhero27 Guys guys guys... Petrucci is the fastest player. Come on, like 4 billion beats per minute. That's like, more power than there is in the sun. He's got a foot control rig that kills people when he plays fast enough through it. He's a god. (kudos to those who get this joke) Dont forget that his guitars were painted by Micheal Angelo...not the guitar n00b, the guy who painted jesus on that ceiling. and that his guitar tech yngwie malmsteen gave him a book of Swedish meat ball and cheese cake recipes but seriously ii think either Micheal Angleo Batio or Rusty Colley are the fastest hands down...and the guy who said kirk hammet needs to get out more neutral And this controls how hot the sun is... I don't really use that one... Don't see why I should...

But can they do it with feeling and emotion? I mean, isn't that really it? Sure, I can play a chromatic exercise at 200 bpm now, but that doesn't make me good. That just makes me look like I'm trying to take a poop when I'm playing.
An example: Listen to "The Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin and tell me it isn't one sexy song. Then go and watch Yngvie's set on the G3 Live at Denver DVD and tell me which of the songs (any of Yngvie's or The rain song) you would prefer to learn. Does having the ability to rip up and down the neck like a pompous a** really mean anything?
I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just want a bit of feedback to this question since this is mainly focused on speed.

I'm going with Yngwie. Yea Zeppelin is awesome, but for me, I like a good challenge on guitar. Zeppelin just isn't challenging anymore. And If you want feel, Becker has that. Listen to Concerto when he was in Cacophony.

Listen to Concerto when he was in Cacophony. I just can't stand him... That G3 dvd is awful, the acoustic thing is ok... but only because he isn't trying to kick the audiance/throw his guitar over his shoulder while he's playing. FAT PEOPLE ARE NOT SEXY! scream Jimmy page on the other hand... My God. The solo for "Tangerine" is one of my personal favourites. Not that fast, but more emotion than a pregnant lady on steroids.
