Rosangela Grifone adjusted her silver mask once again, fingering the tiny blue roses along the side, as if afraid they might fall off. Her other hand patted at the matching rose pinned into her coppery bun, then grazed the embroidered ribbon at her throat as both hands fell to smooth the full skirt of her gown, an elaborate confection of white and blue and silver like the mask, also adorned with blue roses, and considerably more low-cut than anything she would normally have worn. She still couldn’t believe she was wearing such a beautiful thing.

She still didn’t know how they’d gotten it. A few days after she’d purchased the Rose Garden oil from Solace Scents, Rosa had come home to discover Tanith grinning madly, an envelope containing an invitation and two golden tickets in her hand. Then she had presented her with the gown. Rosa suspected conspiracy with the hatter downstairs.

"You look beautiful, angel. Stop fidgeting." Tanith Elissar crossed her arms across the bodice of her own elegant black gown, her serpentine golden bangles, perfectly matched to her necklace, clinking together. Her dark eyes watched Rosa through a feathered black and gold mask, which was all that held the waves of ebony hair away from her face.

"That’s what you always say," Rosa replied, blushing, but she dropped her arms anyway. "I’m starting to think I shouldn’t believe you."

The dark-skinned woman rolled her eyes in mock exasperation. "Because it’s always true. Would I lie to you? Now—" Rosa opened her mouth as if to protest, but Tanith cut her off with a peck to the cheek and a gentle shove toward the woman demanding tickets of the other guests. "Shall we head in?" The two women presented their tickets to the loud-voiced woman – Rosa shyly, Tanith boldly – and they followed the stream of guests into the mansion.

It had taken May longer then expected to get ready and get out of the house. And even then, she had to return home for a much needed notepad and pen, which she promptly shoved down her shirt to keep hidden. The journalist had decided that nice pants and lavander top, along with the much needed mask, was good enough. She had never been a woman for dresses, and wasn’t going to start.

Besides, your feet blistered in high heels. She knew that fact all too well from not that long ago. Her ankle still sported the sore.

But, she made it to the line in decent timing, and without any major casualties. The thought prompted a grin as she waited for her turn to see the guard. When it eventually came up, she dug through her shirt, hoping she didn’t look to awkward before producing a golden ticket which she flashed to the guard.

“Hope I’m not too late.” She spoke with a cheeky grin before side stepping into the area in which the party was being held, careful to hide the notebook she carried with her. If nothing else, she wanted to walk away with a good story tonight, and hopefully a few laughs.

A surpressed, yet grossly obvious smile surficed on his mouth as the black-haired young man slowly stepped out of his carriage. He took a step forward, and looked around, hands instinctively adjusting every part of his fine coat. The young man's sight shifted from left to right, scanning, with his seemingly calm yet sparkling eyes, about the crowd that surrounded him. He let out a heavy sigh. Hands reached inside of his pocket for his long drag. Taking the cigaratte in his mouth, he smoked a puff or two with leisure, before turning to notice his carriage, his "servant" awaiting for his instructions.

"Why, oh yes! I have almost forgotten!" The young man gave a crisp and abrupt chuckle, and walked back to his carriage. His long coat fluttered with the night wind, glimmering gold under the dim moonlight.

"My ladyship." The young man said with a smooth gesture, and lended out one of his gloved hand. The other hand took off his balck top hat, turning it his back. His body bowed gracefully on a slight angle, matching the curvature of his smile.

"If you will please..."

Noticing the man suddenly look around and gaze upon him was surely something to the young scent who immediately smiled brightly at him excited to be noted by someone of stature in his eyes. The rest of the party suddenly became muted and hardly worth the attention it took to focus. He had a prize of visionary sight and whether music started to play for real or in his mind his mind he heard the classical piece start drifting into his thoughts.

He giggled embarassedly as he realized he was day dreaming and hadn't responded to the man who had given him a moment of his time.. Innocent and unuse to compliments. He did his best to mimic a bow he had seen on a television show. Simply by bringing his hand up in a flourish of movement to his chest and bowing deeply to the beautiful stranger.

"Hello." He mumurmed and quickly added "I'm Degas L'Artisanale."

Heart beating fast, he ran knowing he was late. With one hand, he smoothed his glittering blue sash and with the other he pulled on a mask of silver velvet and blue feathers. A small blue sapphire bounced against his neck and shone in the dead center of his mask's forehead. His soft dress shoes clacked against stone as he ran to the sound of people and what seemed like soft music. His mask finally decided to stay on his face freeing a hand. The hand clenched a small peice of parchment.
"Oh, this is not going good," he gasped from behind the mask. His long golden hair flew behind him like a flag.
"My ticket! Here it is!" he cried handing the woman at the gate the slip of paper with his name on it.
Nicollo.
He caught his breath and brushed himself off before entering the party with his ticket back in his hand. He was shaking, but with nothing but pure excitment.

Grumbling softly, Kier shuffled along with the crowd. Why her brothers would send her to a thing like this was beyond her...and in a dress, of all things! She furrowed her borw, glaring half-heartedly at the people around her. At least they had allowed her to wear dress pants underneath, odd as it looked. Besides, it was far past the time for complaints; she had come, hadn't she?

Adjusting her plain black mask, she eyed the dazzle around her. Keir became infinitely glad for her own simple blue gown and black pants. Sleeveless she was, but it gave her a measure of comfort to know she didn't look like a peacock. She wasn't on tippy-feet either, since niether she nor her brothers believed in high heels. Moving along in her brown dress shoes, she soon found herself before the guard. Displaying her ticket, she followed the others inside.

A dainty hand clad in a soft white glove extended from the carriage, taking the offered aid from the forgetful male. Although the feminine hand slipped into the male's, the woman it belonged to was very careful not to put her weight upon it; not only was it unlady like, she simply didn't trust the man to catch her if something shiny came along. Steely eyes that were more grey than blue settled adoringly on the man from underneath heavy lashes, most of her features undistinguishable from the intricate white and black woven mask that adorned her face. The mask itself bore soft tendrils of midnight feathers that seemed to meld with her equally black hair, which was pulled up in braids and ringlets. The woman had a lot of hair.

"Thank you, my Lord," she replied in a cool and melodious voice, setting her immaculate booted feet on the ground. Her dress was simple but suiting, a sleeveless black number that scooped low in the front and lower in the back without being too revealing, displaying the white tressings underneath. It was cinched at the waist, a split in the black fabric flaring towards the bottom where more snow-white fabric was visible. She bore a black choker with a single white pearl at her throat, offset by the pearl-drop earrings that dangled from her ears.

This was not her type of setting, but she was far from uncomfortable. Truly, with a date like this, she was afraid of nothing. Cupid-bow lips of seashell pink curved into an encouraging smile as she curled her fingers around her admission ticket. This promised to be a most interesting event.

Amryx already felt out of place in the extravagant gala. This really wasn't somewhere she'd normally go to. Spotting Olivia in the crowd, Amryx dragged Adrian over to where she and Ment were waiting. She didn't let go of Adrian, fearing that he would make his way to a corner and attempt to claim it as his own like he so often did at the shop.

"Here and reporting for duty, Olivia!" Amryx greeted her employer. She wasn't quite sure why Olivia was looking so nervous, but then again, ever since the Scents were appearing, she had been looking nervous.

Adrian, on the other hand, was just staring around at the other guests impassively. Taking advantage of the fact that Amryx was very distracted at the moment, he managed to slip out of her grasp and wandered into the crowd, looking for someone to hassle. Or maybe food to eat.

The food came first. One could have sworn his eyes lit up when he spotted the buffet-like table with the silver platters filled with snacks.

"Finally, some food in this place," Adrian mumbled, helping himself to a generous amount of snacks, right off the plate. "Mmm."

Was this it?

This was the first thought that occurred to Alch as she stepped carefully from her carriage, landing easily and lightly on her feet and gasping quietly as she looked up at the destination. Was this really where she had been invited? Reaching up with one hand, she carefully untangled a long, black ringlet from her long silver-and-ruby earrings, adding it to the mass of other curls and coils she had that fell down to the small of her back, where a red bow was puffed and brilliant.

Bright blue eyes, filled with ill-hidden nervousness, looked up at the building as the young woman paused amidst the hustle and bustle of those entering the building, not caring about those who cared, beyond a general concern of being bumped into. She was far too thrilled and terrified to care about that just yet. A shaky sigh slipped from red-painted lips, and Alch finally stepped onwards to the door, purring very quietly as she made her way through the people. As she stepped, her tux-jacket whispered lightly against her skin, rich black, with a white shirt beneath, a red tie standing out vibrantly at her throat. Her masculine looking top was countered with a rippled, laced skirt that reached the floor, as black as the jacket and hiding away daringly red high-heels.

"Excuse me, miss," she whispered, looking up at the woman with one visible eye and one eye hidden behind a lovely mask offering a shy smile. "I was invited to this, and... oh. Right. The ticket..." She fumbled through her bag, before offering the ticket up with a hand gloved in rich black satin, a silver bracelet shining lightly in the streetlights. "This is all I need, correct, to get in...?"

Qadir watched the boy get flustered and it was more than adorable to watch. The man did his best to keep from laughing at the boy, he didn't want the little guy to think he was laughing in a rude way. On the contrary, it would have been one of those laughs brought on from a hint of admiration. Kneeling down so that his gold eyes could peer straight into the other's he returned the greeting. "Degas L'Artisanale is it? What a grand name. Shall I refer to you as Degas L'Artisanale or will Degas be quite appropriate enough?"

Resting his cane upon the floor, Qadir continued to sneak peeks around the room as if searching for a familiar face. Certainly he didn't let the boy think he was trying to avoid talking to him, for he kept a good 98% of his attention on the boy, a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes behind the black and gold decorated mask. "You can call me Qadir if you'd like, it is my name after all thanks to my parents."

Everyone seemed so interesting milling about the hall, their outfits glittering and their masks showing off what they thought was the best to hide behind. Qadir really wondered who was hiding behind their mask and who was wearing their mask as a reflection of their inner self. If he'd caught sight of her in the crowd, he'd certainly of picked Shyer's mask as his favorite, but as it were he had yet to spy her milling with others. Shocking knowing the state of her glorious hair.

Nicollo noticed the lady who had entered behind him. He smiled behind his mask. Thoughts dashed through his head as he tryed to pick out the best course of action. Deciding quickly, he lightly spun around on one of his heels.
"Hello M'lady. How do you fair this evening?" he asked the lady in the plain blue gown. She was pretty. Nicollo bowed slightly at the waist to Keir and extending a hand in order to take hers and kiss it in his little royal custom. He rubbed off as a playboy most of the time.

'Twas at that very moment that Shyer in all her er well one might perhaps call it glamour and shine, with her knife thin heels clicking upon the marble floor. Though secretly she wanted a jacket toh hide over exposed shoulders, it was a rare day she wore anything without sleeves and she felt so bare without them. Tinkling bracelets swinging in every direction, silver gems dripping about thin wrists. with much difficulty she tried an esy glide towards one of the doors, or in any case a chair near the door or a place more away from the hustle and bustle of the crowd gathering inside as surely as a trickle of water will fill a glass.

A candid smile laced slightly along parted lips, from this very expression, it was probably likely she was in a reasonably good mood. One might wonder why though on any other night. Though of course it was obscenely obvious at the moment. The atmospher was tangable with joy and despite her own insecurity she could not help but remember how so long ago at a younger age she had always wished for a masque setting to dance the night away. Of course those eventually spiralled into sappy princess and princes ides one usually has at that age but you got the drfit, besides she wasn't eve here with anyone.

Ah well, she was entitled to a bit of fun and dreaming here and there, was she not? Her eyes swept, for an instant, smoothly about the many glittering objects, people, furniture and intricate designs that covered the walls that adorned the room. Then Shyer's head twisted ever so slightly to the side, tilting as if considering the atmosphere, as if to wonder whether it would result in something rather exiting and thrilling. and moved a tad nearer to the person whom had caught her eye.

Of course it was rare anyone ever really coaxed her into coming nearer to them, a shyness which complimented her name usually winning out over the urge to do something. so instead she settled for taking two steps towards the condfident masked woman, a scarf hanging aroung her neck. A slight wobble to her walk hinted she was having as much trouble as she was with these damned shoes usually worn by the elite and well groomed. If she didn't feel so bad for starring at a particular person she might have even laughed a little.

The young man smiled back at the lady's reply, and took her delicate hand in his, and, perhaps to everyone's surprised, touched it gently with his lips before drawing her closer to him. When she was close enough, that is, her silky blue dress brused against his black coat with gold lining, the young man whispered to the girl, his mouth almost touching her feathered mask.

"You look beautiful in this starry night, my lady."

And almost immediately he withdrew and turned his head so his eyes are focused on what was right in front of him: the glamourous mansion, the beautifully dressed crowd, the well designed masks that hid everyone's face. At the thought of the mask he pushed up the one what was attached to his own face. A fine mask, one that was made with darkest silk and the most bright colored sapphire gems. They seemed to glitter even though many times his long hair covered their glory. This entire place, in fact, was just as glorious, almost...fantasy like. This night...he had a feeling that this night could be a special one, even though he refused to admit that even he, a well educated gentleman, was amused by the aura that this place emitted.

Without further sayinngs, he took the lady's slim wrist and slid smoothly across his elbow. He nodded slightly, once more adjusting his clothings. After he had made sure that he looked fine enough, the young man led his companion through the crowd, careful not to step on anyone's dress (and he had made a mental note to chat with these..oh, lovely ladies when he had the chance), and finally to reach the ticket booth. Using one hand he flashed the brown little ticket as if he was performing a magic trick.

"Here is my passport."

Degas kept his eyes on the man and fidgeted a bit trying not to seem as akward as he sometimes felt. He smiled and nodded "Oh Degas is fine. No one ever calls me by the whole thing...." He looked away then added trying to sound a little more clever than he was at this point. "It's pronounced Day-GA like the artist not Day-GAS like um...the gas." He laughed a little then looked down at his shoes suddenly shy he hade mad such a tacky joke.

"That's a very nice name. I've never heard anything like that before. What's it's meaning? Are your parents annoying like mine are? " He asked curious now and forgetting his emotions of only a moment ago. He gestured to the two foxes caught in each other's embrass making the most of a shared kiss.

Yiiei

PostPosted: Wed Apr 11, 2007 7:30 pm

Yiiei wandered around, her eyes darting right and left as people continued to enter the mansion dressed in extravagant clothes with even more beautiful and intricate masks. She blushed beneath her mask at the simplicity of her outfit though she was grateful that she had had the sense to dress up a little. Hands at her side, she weaved her way through the crowd, her eyes drawn to a particular figure. Strange considering there was no one at the party she knew or at least no one she had spotted that she recognized.

She stopped at a distance as she saw the man introduce himself to a young boy. She heard as he introduced himself as Qadir. What a strange name. Yiiei watched from where she stood, no longer confident enough to introduce herself to a perfect stranger in front of another stranger. No matter if that other stranger was a little boy. Her hands clenched and were being wrung as she waited. Perhaps this was not such a good idea.

Eyes searched on as her body slowly turned but stopped halfway as another sight caught her. There were so many people around that were dressed in such elegance. It almost made her green with envy if only had she been the type to like frills and ruffles but she wasn't so she complexion remained a healthy color.
