Stephan stood up quickly when he heard Ari speak, hoping he wouldn't get Ina in any trouble. "Um," he said, thinking for a moment. Microwave pancakes? Well, maybe. "There's some in the freezer," he told her, "But they've got sausage in the middle." Come to think of it, he'd never tried to feed Vega meat. As soon as that was done with he headed towards the back room, now Vega's room, and retrieved a stuffed dog and a pack of animal crackers, which he offered to Ina. "No hard feelings?" he asked her quietly, seeming a little more like a father than a defeated slump.
Vega hummed happily, tugging lightly at points on Ari's shirt for amusement. He wanted this mommy, not his dumb mommy. Or daddy, whatever it wanted to be called. "Mommy!" he yelled, pronouncing her his own. Ina could get over it, he claimed this one.

Ina hugged the stuffed dog instinctively and took the animal crackers with her free hand. She smield widely at Stephan, wagging her violet tail left and right. "Nope, no feelings!" She chirped rather contetedly. Why wasn't her mommy like him, mm? He was cool! "Stinky man is very cool," she complimented before muching on an elephant cracker. Mmm~
"Ohhh, you're quite sweet!" Ari told Vega with a smile, finding his little mistaken outburst of "mommy" adorable. She walked over to the freezer, carrying him with her. Opening the door and peering inside, it took her a moment to find the box. "Here we go," she said, her voice still warm and sing-songish for the child's benefit. Glancing at the cabnits, she checked a few before she found the plates and set it down on the counter. Then she put a single pancake from the package on the plate and put it in the microwave.

"Thanks, I'm glad someone thinks so," he told Ina, dropping to sit cross-legged beside her, "You know, I thought Vega was going to be a girl." He wasn't sure why that seemed funny now, but it just did. Sure the kid acted girly enough, but he lacked the sweetness that usually came with it. Most of the time anyway. He faked it well though, which held a scary prediction for when he got older.
"You sweet!" Vega echoed, ducking his head into the fluffy collar of his jacket, giving her his best "adore me!" look. She was smart, he didn't even have to yell at her before she got things right. Maybe she'd pick the right music too. Not that dumb nengy-nuu stuff Steps liked. But then, that was a much harder test. She'd have to work her way up to it. Same for that Ina girl.

Ina laughed. "Vega not girl!" she giggled, obviously not understanding why Stephan had thought so. "He pretty like one though," she said observently. For some reason Vega reminded her of Haki...except Haki was way cooler then him. She held out a purple hand to the Stinky Man, offering him an animal cracker, "Want?" He was a good grown-up. She could share.
Ari laughed, "Ohh, aren't you cute!" The little boy was precious! And he seemed rather well behaved. She wished Luca could be like that instead of...throwing food in her face and the other hobbies he seemed to have of making a mess. When the microwave beeped to signal the pancakes were done she pulled it out carefully, since she could only use one hand, and then searched through the drawers for a fork and knife. Finding them after a couple of tries she shifted Vega onto her hip so that she could use both hands, if awkwardly, and began cutting the pancake into tiny pieces. She cut out the sausage parts when she could, since she wasn't sure if Vega ate that kind of thing yet.

Steps took the cracker with a smile, popping it into his mouth, "Thank you Ina, that's sweet." Her other comments made him laugh inside, though the fact kind of worried him. What would happen when Vega went to school? Would he get beat up for being girly? Wait, what was he thinking, Vega would bitchslap anyone that said anything bad about him.
"Yep," Vega chimed, agreeing with her wholeheartedly. He was cute, that's for sure. "An' tah-leen-teed," he added, struggling a good deal with the word. It was the only "big word" he knew, but he'd heard it on TV and it was used to describe the best kind of people, in his opinion at least, therefore it belonged to him too.

"Wow! You've got quite a vocabulary, mister," Ari commented with a smile, taking the syrup from the counter and pouring small amounts of it onto his tiny pieces of pancakes. She then shifted him back to hold him with one arm and took his plastic plate and went back to his high-chair. She set the plate down and then lifted him up, setting him back down behind the tray. "There you go," she said, going back to clean her hands in the sink. After whiping the water off on her jeans she went over to Ina and Stephan, "Ina, you can come out now. No more biting, alright?"
Ina bounced to her feet and ran right across the room as if to express her newfound freedom. "Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay~!" she laughed, dragging the stuffed puppy and the animal crackers with her.

Steps laughed as Ina was set free, she was a spitfire. Without a reason to entertain her he straightened out his knees and went back to the couch, though he felt a good bit more energized than the last time. He looked over toward the highchair, where the plate amazingly still sat.
Vega nodded purposefully, then jammed his fingers into the sticky mess of pancake. This one understood, good. And it was warm, better. Once he'd managed to claw up a few pieces he jammed them in his mouth, dripping syrup down his face and onto himself. It was good too, what couldn't she do! "Yum!" he shouted, dropping bits of pancake out of his mouth as he did.

Ina ran around the kitchen about 7 times before getting bored of it. She frowned and went to tug on Ari's genes with the hand that held the puppy. Momma was done tending to the meanie, so she could give her attention now. "Momma! I wanna play!" she whined, wagging her tail hopefully. She was booooored. Normally she went to play with the other souls, but Vega was a meanie...and he was eating.
Ari smiled down at her young charge, "Why not wait until Vega's done? Then you two can go play together." She noted the obvious mess that Vega was making and sighed inwardly. It was the one thing she never got used to with children-cleaning up so many messes. She ran her fingers through her hair with a small frown, "I'm sorry, Stephan...pancakes with syrup aren't exactly clean. I'll clean him up when he's done..." She had been the one to give him the messy food, after all. Steps had been rather safe with bananas and cheerios.

"Huh?" Steps turned to look at the highchair and the now messy Vega. "Oh," he said, noticing the problem, "No, don't worry about it. He's kind of a pain to bathe, I'll take care of it." Well, it wasn't so much that he was a pain but that he sort of... Tried to make it a show. Then again, he tried to make everything a show.
Vega stuck his tongue out at Ina again, this time crossing his eyes as well. She was dumb to think that this good woman would just let him be ignored for a while. Though, the idea that they would play together didn't seem too bad. He could teach her a thing or two.

Ari nodded guilty, "Alright..." She hadn't meant to cause any trouble, of course, but...she supposed Vega would have gotten dirty some other way. That didn't make her feel much better. She folded her hands behind her back for a moment, feeling a tad awkward. She hadn't exactly come into the house on an invitation-she had done so because of the racket. Now that things were settled she realized she wasn't sure if she was supposed to stay or leave. "Um...would you like me to go or...?" she questioned uncertainly. This was a playdate for simply Vega and Ina, after all.
Ina pulled her ears and puffed up her cheeks, rolling her eyes upwards to add to the face. Stupid meanie. Like she wanted to play with HIM. No way. She'd have much more fun by herself...or with momma or the Stinky Man. She moved past Momma and ran over the couch, leaning against its cushions as if she wanted to get up, "Play with meee, Stinky Man! Pleeeasse."

"If you want," Steps told her, "I should be able to take care of them myself." Probably. If not he'd have to learn sooner or later. After all it wasn't really her job to come over here and take care of them when he was the one that had suggested the playdate. "Shouldn't take very long to get him cleaned up." He was thrown a bit off guard when Ina came running at him, but shrugged it off when he realized she couldn't get up to jump on him like she had before. "I'll play with you," he promised, "As soon as everyone's cleaned up and happy."
Vega pouted at the mention of the smart woman leaving. No, new mommy was supposed to stay, old mommy was supposed to leave. But well, if she needed to. That way at least he could get a chance to be alone with this Ina girl. Maybe once she spent some time with him she'd show him a little more respect.

Well, Ari took this as a good moment to bow out. If Stephan said he could handle it, she had no reason to doubt him. "Alright. I guess I'll head out then," she murmured. "You be good," She told Ina as she passed by the couch. "Um...just call me when you want her picked up?" She offered to Steps once she reached the door. She should be in all night, unless she got a house call of some sort. But those were pretty rare.
Ina pouted. Why did grownups always tell her to wait? Did they like waiting? They sure did a lot of it, it seemed. She pointed to Vega with a purple finger, her tail getting rather bushy again, "Hurry up!" She didn't want to play with him, but if he was done Stinky Man would have fun with her.

"I will, promise," Steps told her tiredly, shifting Vega to his other shoulder, "And don't worry, I can handle it. I've handled worse." Well, not really, but it was a good thing to seem confident, right? Oh well, if something went wrong at least it would be his crap that got broken, not that he had much worth breaking around the apartment. That was the first thing he'd learned with Vega. If there was something worth anything in the room he'd go right to it. "Come on Ina," he said, gesturing to the girl, "You can help me get him all wet." Well, it'd be more fun than her just waiting there, and why not help with the brat, goodness knows he'd need it.
Vega hrumphed and tugged on his father's hair, trying to lift himself up to a more proper level. But with a practiced hand he was pushed back down. "MAH!" he shouted, flailing his feet angrily. Ina wasn't supposed to come with them. Bath time was HIS time. Why should she get to help? She wasn't special.
