Damn right Adrian wasn't going to let go. Honestly, he would have gone to get a smoothie himself, but Amryx had the money and Adrian hadn't quite figured out where she hid her wallet yet. Yet. Until then, this woman would have to do. She was annoying and somewhat daft, but hey, a smoothie was a smoothie.

"I don't know. You're supposed to know,"
Adrian grumbled, and this was true. Yet another reason why he didn't get one himself. Since he never went outside, he didn't really know where the smoothies were sold. He knew he should have paid more attention when Amryx took him out instead of whining about how the sun was too bright and how Amryx's asscrack showed everytime she bent over to sit.

May frowned at the kid. “Well, there is a coffee shop over this way.” She pointed down the street. “I saw it on my way here. Lets see if they have smoothies shall we?” And with that she set off, albeit awkwardly so, but she couldn’t help the small murmur of “Its going to go to your a** you know.” From escaping her throat in a bitter tone.

It wasn’t long before she ended up in front of the coffee shop and as she opened the door the bell jingled and she motioned for the kid to walk in. “Go look at the menu. See if there’s a smoothie you like. Hell, I’ll get you coffee if you like. You can irritate your mother on your caffeine high.”

May must have looked strange walking down the street with a child literally hanging off her a**, but Adrian cared not. On the contrary, he enjoyed making people feel awkward.

"... I want a milkshake. Chocolate. I don't like smoothies," Adrian decided, after looking through the menu and finding nothing like fruit flavors. It never crossed Adrian's mind that smoothies were fruit flavored. Truth be told, he never had one before, it just sounded tasty.

“Fine.” May nodded and walked to the counter and ordered a large milkshake for the boy and a medium strawberry smoothie for herself. After paying for the drinks she waddled (Almost literally because of Adrian) over to a small table a made a gesture for him to sit down while she placed his milkshake on the seat opposite of her own. Vaguly she noted it would have probably cost her less to buy the oil then the treats.

“There we go. One Milkshake for one--?” She still didn’t know the kids name. “Now. For your part of the story?”

Adrian ignored May's implied request for his name, instead preoccupying himself with the milkshake. Yes! Finally, something had gone something right during this terrible day. He sipped the milkshake contently (or at least as contently as he could, for he still looked like he just walked out of a funeral). There was an uncomfortable silence in the air as Adrian worked through the milkshake, grimacing once or twice when brain freeze took over.

After a very long while, Adrian blinked and stared at May like he remembered she was there.

"You're going to have to get a burner and a candle, by the way," Adrian mumbled. "You should have thought about that before you stole the oil."

May nodded as she took a seat “Yes I kn- What?” She spoke her confusion as the sentence finally sunk into her head. “Candle? Burner?” Her eyes widened as if the words were foreign to her.

“I-I- Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Almost as soon as the words escaped her lips, she realized how idiotic they sounded. Why would the kid help her steal more things. She sighed in defeat and slouched in her seat sipping on her smoothie moodily. “S’alright. It was a wild goose chase anyways.” She muttered “Ha. Kids born from oil. How stupid can you get?”

Poor May. It looked like she wouldn't get her story after all. Adrian almost looked sympathetic, except for the fact that he was clutching at his head after the latest round of brain freeze set in.

"Yes, it does sound stupid. That's what my mom said too after I was born," Adrian sighed melodramatically. He continued to sip at the milkshake. It really was tasty, but he wasn't showing any signs that he was enjoying it.

May almost giggled as the boy clutched is head, only to be stopped mid-breath at his words. “What?” She frowned her brows and leaned in a little closer. “You mean you are a oil-child?” She leaned a little closer and sniffed the air.

Black current wafted through her nostrils and she almost slapped herself for not noticing it before. “Is that why you were in the shop?” She asked, her eyes widening as she pieced things together in her mind.

She leaned back in her seat again and went to chewing her pointer finger, thoughtfully. Eventually though, she gave up on the chewing and moved to sipping on her smoothie in silence.

After awhile she dared to speak again. “How many of you are there? Do all the oils become children? Do you live in that shop? Do I need a specific burner? I guess I should buy this huh?” The questions flew one after and she only stopped once she pulled out the Mango oil which had some how remained safe throughout the trip there.

“Huh. Looks like you just saved my story kiddo.”

"I never said anything like that," Adrian grumbled, although May leaned closer and could smell Black Currant. Well, it took her long enough, really. How could she not notice earlier? Adrian wasn't sure that he wanted to answer her questions anymore. Directly, anyway. The woman had gotten herself some oil, she could figure it out for herself.

"I'm in the shop because my Mom works there. I don't know. I don't know. I already told you why. I answered that already. I guess so."

Adrian effortlessly answered all of May's question without really answering them. The milkshake was almost done and without the tasty chocolate goodness slightly improving his mood, he didn't feel like going into detail.

One of the things Adrian actually liked in this world was being difficult.

She grinned and reached over and ruffled his hair not caring for personal space. Her smoothie now gone she stood up and stretched lazily, a content moan escaped her lips before she tossed the empty container in the trash.

She thought about offering him one for the road home, just for being such a good sport. And despite looking better in girl pants then her- he was cute. He just needed to smile more.

But the thought of another milkshake came crashing down on her when she realized she had spent all the money she had had with her when she bought their first treats. The money that had originally been planned to buy the stolen scent.

“s**t.” She swore under her breath. Wracking her brain on what to do next she slowly made her way back to the table before smiling at Adrian. “You ready to go back? I’ll walk you home.” She spoke with a placid grin. What was the chances she could bribe the kid into stealing for her?

NO. Bad May.

As things standed she could probably be arrested for kidnapping. After all- it couldn’t have looked very good walking down that street with a child on her belt.

Oh no she didn't.

Adrian's reaction to his hair getting ruffled was what one might have called excessive. Indeed, the boy almost screamed and jumped back, knocking over his chair and sending himself sprawled out on the ground. He looked like he was going to cry, and his strange antics was already getting the attention of the few customers sitting around.

Why?! Why did people insist on ruining his hair! He spent so much time making it perfect and they have to go and touch it!

"DON'T TOUCH MY HAIR!" Adrian shrieked, looking like he was going to kill May with his mind. "DON'T... JUST... AUUUUGH! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU ALL! WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT? GO BACK TO EATING!"

Adrian gasped for breath after his mini-tantrum, crossing his arms and glaring at May from underneath his now messed up bangs. How dare that woman do this to him! After he gave her all that information too!

May stood in shock, unable to comprehend what had happened to make the child freak out in such a manner. And then it dawned on her. The hair ruffling? She knelt down to his level with an apologetic smile on her face. While the boy had over re-acted in a manner she hadn’t even know was possible she felt horrible never the less.

“Im sorry!” She squeaked making a move to hug him, but stopped instantly before doing so. Lest another…incident occurred. She could still feel eyes boring into her from the other people in the small shop. “Oh, Im so sorry.”

May couldn’t help but wonder what was the cause of such a commotion. Why was he so sensitive? The last time she had met a child this bad they were ab-

She gasped loudly, her hands covering her mouth. Was this child abused?! Was that why he acted that way?

That would explain the clinging! Oh dear god he was afraid she was going to leave him behind! The poor child!

In her minds eye she saw an old fat woman yanking on the young child’s hair, while him crying on the ground.

Tears sprung to her eyes and she had, once more, the overwhelming urge to hug the child, but refrained from doing so, lest she brought upon more bad memories, which were cooked up by May’s over re-active imagination.

“Oh you poor child!” She cooed sitting on the floor near him, her sorrowful eyes watering. “You poor, poor child. You must be so abused! I cant imagine what it must be like living with a horrible fat person who beats on you! I bet she has a hairy nasty mole too, doesn’t she? I’m sorry, I’m sorry! I didn’t know she yanked on your hair! I would have never touched it before! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! Do you want to come home with me? That way you don’t have to stay with that croon tonight? I’ll protect you from that witch! I’m sorry, so, so sorry.”

At first, Adrian paid no attention to May. Those who ruined his hair that he spent at least 15 minutes on every morning and at least 5 minutes per two hours maintaining throughout the day did not deserve his attention.

No way. Nope.

Until May started describing his mother, in a very imaginative and not entirely accurate fashion. But Adrian very much liked the sound of her description. Yes, his mother was a horrible fat cow who probably would get a wart on her nose. Granted, Amryx was not a horrible person - Adrian just didn't like her because she was a loser.

But he wasn't going to tell May that. May could think whatever she wanted. And staying at her place that night? Adrian loved the chance to give his dear old mother a heart attack. Besides, he was bored of the shop already.

Yes, yes, this was working out quite well for him. Adrian started to turn on the waterworks, letting out a dramatic sniffle that any other person would have identified as fake.

"You... You'll let me come home with you tonight?" Adrian sniffed, trying to look hopeful and miserable at the same time.

Well, at least he got the miserable part down right.

And for all her journalist skills, and talent for picking out facts.

May was sucker punched.

Not once did she assume the sniffles were not snot filled, but merely a dramatic touch. And the odd stares had increased tenfold and she was sure now all attention was on the pair. But she didn’t mind. The poor, poor abused child.

“Of course you can come home with me!” She assured. “You can sleep in the guest room. It has a nice big bed we can set up for you. And you can watch TV all night if you want. And in the morning I’ll make you whatever you want to eat.”

Oh yes, she was defiantly going for the nice-lady-brownie points right now. But she did want that child out of the danger zone. She, herself, sniffed pathetically and wiped at her eyes with the sleeve of her shirt before standing up and offering her hand down to the boy on the floor to help him up. She didn’t dare touch him though, in case he didn’t want the contact. She didn’t want him to freak out again.

Yes, yes. A TV? And breakfast? Adrian realized he was getting a pretty good deal out of this. He was just about prepared to accept May's offer...

... until, lo and behold, Amryx showed up.

Amryx had just wanted some coffee. She didn't even know that Adrian wasn't in the shop, as she rarely saw him. He was always sulking or brooding in a corner and it was hell just trying to get him to go with her to the other side of the store, much less outside. But the hushed stares brought her attention to where Adrian and May were.

Amryx didn't think much of it. Until she recognized the child.

In a flash, Amryx was there, tugging on Adrian's sleeve and glaring at Adrian with as much rage as she could muster, unaware that she was only helping May's overactive imagination.

"God damnit, Adrian! What the hell are you doing all the way out here?! Who the hell is she? Are you tormenting this poor woman?!"

Adrian just stared at her sulkily. Boo. There went his fun.
