I'm not trying to make him the bad person. I just took some quotes and acted fast. Are you interpreting him as bad? I don't think so right? But he is the one who brought up the subject and now I'm trying to make that subject known to the guild. If I seem to be acting hostile towards him, my apologies, but no one was making a thread to keep the argument away from the events, so I did. Should I get more quotes from Omni's point of view? And Saverio, that was a dang good post.

In each event thread, is the prize made obvious? Is it stated in each thread what the winner of each contest receive?

Contests are too a game. I'm not seeing any difference at all between them.
Game being a competitive activity characterized by skill, chance or endurance between two or more set of people according to a set of rules.
Indeed, a synonym of contest is a game.
It's the same thing.
Now either hold all games where they're supposed to be or don't require that any be held there at all.

Cold and frigid are synonyms too, but they are different in meaning.
The same goes for contest and game.
Contests are geared towards competition with a prize awaiting at the end.
Games are supposed to be played for fun and amusement.

That is how a contest works. You are told to do something the best and you will get this. If there is no this then it is a game not a contest.
And I agree with Omo that a contest is a game, but that is irrelevant at the time.
Edit, I had two this's

Forum games, which is what is meant in the RP/Game Subforum, do not require skill of competition, or endurance. There is no ultimate goal in a thread game. No one wins or goes anywhere. It's only called a game because it's fun and involves rules. Thread contests do not behave in the same manner.

Bleh, Definitions.
Contest: 1. a race, conflict, or other competition between rivals, as for a prize. 2. struggle for victory or superiority.
Game: 1. an amusement or pastime: children's games. 2. the material or equipment used in playing certain games: a store selling toys and games. 3. a competitive activity involving skill, chance, or endurance on the part of two or more persons who play according to a set of rules, usually for their own amusement or for that of spectators. 4. a single occasion of such an activity, or a definite portion of one: the final game of the season; a rubber of three games at bridge. 5. the number of points required to win a game. 6. the score at a particular stage in a game: With five minutes to play, the game was 7 to 0. 7. a particular manner or style of playing a game: Her game of chess is improving. 8. anything resembling a game, as in requiring skill, endurance, or adherence to rules: the game of diplomacy. 9. a trick or strategy: to see through someone's game. 10. fun; sport of any kind; joke: That's about enough of your games.

aretoo I agree with Jaft on this; when Gaia has its "event" occurances, it's all over the main pages, not pigeonholed in the "games" subforum of the site. Sorry, Omni. You mean events announcing that games suddenly exist? Not the same thing. The announcements are about anything new to the site. They're not holding games in some certain forum and here the games are being held in the main page with not even a mention of the game forum. A simple "Hey guys! Check out the games forum for some reaster fun!" would suffice instead of announcing and defining the conditions of the games in the main page as a sticky. The existence of a prize does not mean it's not a game. For instance is the superbowl a game or a contest? It's both. Can you have contests without prizes? Yes. Can you have games with prizes? Yes. They're the same thing!

Ahh but contests and mini contest do belong their, like Lin's contest where the prize is the toaster set. That belongs in the Sub forum and is not a forum game. Thread Contest behave like all the other threads in the subforum but with prizes for a few people

You can easily call it a game and still aard the same prizes you would in one of your "contests"
It's a stupid distinction that doesn't mean anything.

Have the ATG mods or captain set any rules about contests?
Or do we only have rules for games?

There's no rule written that contests belong in a certain area, unless they're being defined as being the same as games. I remember the crew talking about where contests go, but nothing was ever concretly defined. I'm guessing different mods have been directing different things...?

I guess I just fail to see how painting an egg belongs along side Say Something About the Avatar Above You. They just seem entirely different in my mind. One has substance, the other has none.

What is the point of the god damned sub-fourm if you don't put items in it!
There is nothing saying that I have to put a game in the subforum either. The rules are quite vague, and I don't feel that a moderator should extend the rules to fit their own threads.
OK so we have no point to any sub forums according to you! With no rules about having to post there and all.
