"Well, those are the breaks sometimes. Not much we can do except deal with it, though, so deal I do." And that was enough on THAT subject!
Then again, the following story was a great deal more interesting than any further preponderances on relationships could possibly be.
"So...you were living in the mountains and someone told you to come here so you did? Geez, you're certainly an accomodating fellow, no offense intended. Were you the only one to make this particular trip, or did your informant come with you?" From the sound of it, the whole scenario had all the makings of a rather overdone practical joke; Az struck Safi as a rather good fellow, if more than a bit uptight, and anyone who would take advantage of that...
Well, ok; he could see himself taking advantage of that uptightness to tease outrageously, but sending someone wandering about on a dangerous mountainside to parts unknown was rather pushing it.
Glancing curiously at the other stallion, Safi couldn't resist asking, "and what are you going to do now that you're here? Live here, or pass through briefly and go back up the mountain after you've seen the sights? If the latter, I'm sorry you got such an uninteresting vacation!"

Once again Safi seemed to be making things sound so very simple. There were many days when he found himself wishing that they truly were that simple... And then there were days like today when he was at least midly entertained by the fact that they weren't.
"Not so much told directly as asked if I would be willing before strongly suggesting that it would be a very good idea." It had seemed like a good idea at the time, afterall. He got to get away from the hustle and bustle and all of the blasted feathers. Granted, no one had exactly warned him for what he would be facing down here.
"I came by myself..." They wouldn't come down here. Nooo. That was why he had been sent in the first place. It could have been part of a joke. They may very well have been testing him and, were that thought to cross his mind, he may have found himself wondering whether he had passed or failed. "... Unless you count the fact that Crowley is here as well. I highly doubt that he was sent by anyone though."
He sighed softly after pausing for a moment to think. "I may stay in this clearing a bit... Or at least make sure to remember that it's here. It's rather nice and one should have somewhere to go back to, shouldn't they?" He doubted he would be going back to the mountains. Too tough a terrain without wings to carry one up and down... And he was slowly deciding that, despite the mares, he rather enjoyed this land.

Well, that sounded delightful. A little pressure, and down away from home you went? Maybe if that home wasn't that great, but in general that sounded unpleasant. Az didn't seem that upset, though, so either he hadn't minded, or he was one of those pragmatic types...or maybe he was just good at hiding his emotions. Tough to say.
The comment about Crowley was amusing, though. "Crowley not exactly a great friend of yours, eh? Or is he one of those friends that constitutes a danger to himself and others? Or do you just not know?" It sounded amusing, whatever the specifics, if a bit problematic for Az.
Chuckling, Safi glanced over the clearing, measuring it as the other stallion spoke of its benefits. "Well, I suppose so, but you've got a distinct lack of food and water in the vicinity, should you simply stay here. I have to agree with you on the benefits of having a place to call home, though; it's an amazing thing to know you've got something waiting for you, extra points if there's someONE there as well."
Though now that Sai and Kileyo were adults, that was not going to be the case for him as much any more...sadly.

He had been a bit upset at first... But there were some things that one should not throw tantrums about. There were also times when one realized that even if it was time to throw a tantrum it would have done no good. This place wasn't all that bad though... Hormonal mares cast aside.
"This is the second time I've been asked that question and I'm still not all that certain how to explain it. Crowley and I have... A difficult relationship. Our views are on two completely opposite sides of the spectrum, as far as views go. I believe the correct answer out of those you've suggested is that I simply do not know." So many words for, once again, what could have been summed up so easily.
"It wouldn't be all that bad to venture out for food and water. Afterall, I can't hide forever, can I?" He could but it really wouldn't do him any good. "I think it could be a good start. I mean... As it is, you are the only one who has been able to find me here and you seem to have an excellent grasp on why a stallion such as myself would want a place to, well, hide."

"...Right then." There was probably more sense to be found in that arguement than Safi was seeing, but at the moment he didn't feel quite up to sorting it out from the details. In a way, that was kind of ridiculous, as Safi himself was usually known for being excessively complicated, but to have that used AGAINST him...
Ok, moving on. At the other stallion's frank breakdown of the situation of residence, Safi found himself getting back onto the level. Whew.
"Well, there's something to be said for isolation, or so I've heard. Hell, one of my childhood friends is so fond of isolation that he hasn't been around for over a year! THAT'S isolation for you . Still, I can understand the mental issues involved in hiding for a prolonged period of time, especially if you're not the type that usually enjoys isolation. I myself would likely go mad, and while I know that I am hardly a representative stallion and that assuming you would act as I would in similar circumstances is foolish..."
Pausing, Safi drew in a deep breath before finishing the statement with a big grin. "...I'm not called foolish as often as I am for no reason. That aside, your confidence in my sympathies is touching, even if it does indicate a relative lack of info about me. Most Soquilis wouldn't have such confidence in me; why, they'd go as far as to assume I'd rat them out for sport!"
Though attempting to look suitably wounded, Safi couldn't quite eliminate teh devilish twinkle in his eye...or could he, and just didn't want to?

"Perhaps it won't be 'hiding' as much as it will simply be a place of solitude to have for when things get out of hand. Everyone needs a safe place to rest from time to time... A sanctuary, I suppose?" He did enjoy being social from time to time but there were some moments when he just wanted to escape them all... Moreso recently than any other time.
"Rat others out for sport, you say? In that case, should I be looking for another place to call my own incase you let it slip that I'm here?" His brow lofted slightly. If it was going to be a big game of 'hide and seek' he might as well have more than one place to go to avoid the masses of mares seeking his genes in any way that he'd give them. "Or maybe I should just get to know more about you..."
