Don't make it a prerequisite. I'd say that for Cyntos, it ought to be based on Charisma, similar to a paladin. Also, all offensive spells, obviously. None of that wimpy defensive magic stuff.
Paladin is WIS based, not CHA. Also, if we're working with offensive spells, then you're going to have to retard the spell progression even further to balance, possibly preventing them from getting really good spells until epic.

Is it Sorcerers that are CHA based? I think Warlocks are.

I should ask my DM about this. I'm not sure if he's played God of War, but it's worth a shot.

I've never been either. sweatdrop

I have been a Pally before. I'll admit I RPed her pretty terribly though.

Actually it's a simple matter of creating either a -very- constrained list to spontaniously cast from, or possibly even go so far as to give only certain spells x/day to more closely emulate Kratos himself (I'd rather avoid that if possible).
Also, unless they're already at epic levels on their casting stat, the PC's only going to get 4 casts of a level per day if they're lucky, so it's not terribly broken on the casting.

I'm gonna withhold opinions until I see the offensive spell list that you come up with, but currently I see a prestige class that can possibly be taken as soon as level 6, depending on DM, that boasts a D10 hit dice, one of the strongest possible dual wielding weapons with increased reach, and the possibility of offensive magic as well.

...XD

Dur, I knew that. And yeah, slower spell progression would be needed, but for a character based on Kratos, I don't imagine him using any pansy-ish defense spells.

I know how you feel. Right now I'm contemplating dumping the D10 for D8, Possibly raising the BAB requirement and/or adding non-barbarian skill requirements. I did add the slow damage to the flaming version of the blades of chaos to try to balance a little bit, and I can easily drop the 15' reach at upper levels, because the more I look at that the more I think it's just a little much.
Also, for the offensive magic list, I'm not going to have more than about 3-4 spells per spell level, and no spell above about 6th level will be on the list.

edit: It's going to be Saturday or Sunday before I have a spell list it seems. Dont' have time left today to work on one.

Ok, going to retool existing pre-requisites and class features/stats before working on the spell list... off to edit I go!

edit: changes made for now, still looking into further changes. Spell list in progress... this could take a few days! gonk

upon review of the spells and items Kratos gets in the game, I think I may need to actually give spell like or supernatural abilities a certain number of times per day, because one of the abilities is covered in the Gaze of the Enemy class feature. I was thinking of giving the Call lightning spell, but limiting it per the Call Lightning Storm spell (15 bolts per casting). I was also thinking of heavily modifying the Abyssal Army spell (spell compendium) from the spell compendium, because it does almost the same thing as Army of Hades, but I would have to limit it in the extreme, simply because of what the spell summons. There's also a interesting variation of magic missile that I forgot to write down that has roughly the same thing as Army of Hades damage wise. It's also in the spell compendium. I'm going to see if I can track it down again.

Decision has been made to make the spells a supernatural ability a number of times per day. Progression will most likely be similar to the spellcasting table unless someone has recommendations for spells. Spells from any official published supliment will work, or a PDF e-mailed to be with the spell in it would be good too.

Current spells being considered to turn into spell like abilities:

Fireball - the detonation affect radiates from the cyntos, damage type is divine instead of fire.

Call Lightning - limited to 15 bolts like Call Lightning Storm, Damage as per the Call Lightning spell.

Chain Missile - this one is from the spell compendium, for those of you that play NWN think the Ivard's missle swarm spells - modify spell to where the missiles that are spawned target enemies within 20ft instead of just one initial target, then ricoheting into other targets.

Ok, I bought and have been playing God of War... and I'm glad I have. I now know all 4 of the in game spells fairly well, and I have to say that giving even some of them as spell like ablilities will fit much better with the conversion of the class. I might even have to go so far as to make it a base class for the sake of balance, because the spells could get a little crazy as they progress.

Yeah, that's all he plays when it comes to video gaming, now. I can't wait till we start playing multi-player stuff again! stare
