WTF how does ret suck? And no, I will not "GTFO" you can ******** explain is what you can do.

Edit: I'm sorry to go off like that, but you present no evidence that ret sucks now. I know of atleast 3 60+ Paladins that are ret. and have done Kara, AQ and a few of the other pre-BC end game instances and they all do just fine.

Reason that Ret sucks...

Ret paladins can't really heal.

Ret paladins is classed as Constant DPS in raids
--> however, their damage is absolutely out-shined by Rogue combo
constant/burst DPS, Shadow Priest Raid usefulness, and Mages new classification of a Burst/constant class in raids thanks to invisibility and evocation.

Ret paladins normally can't tank.

Only real use for Ret paladins is for Imp. Sanctity Aura, and even that, it is only useful if they are in the party of tanks.
Ret paladins only suck in end-game. In instances, they need to be regarded as a DPS class that is specced the way they are because it's required, a lot like cat druids.

Also, ret owns fairly hard in PvP., although Prot can be better in some circumstances. I would prefer Protection for PvP, but only 70 PvP. Before then, Ret owns it. Ret is also fastest levelling specc until 55+. You're dumb, shutup.

DPSadins exist as much as Resto Shammys. Meaning, very very minimal. Give me a mage for DPS anyday because they make water <3

Ret spec is mediocre in the PvP department. But only in group PvP where they are fairly ignored altogether. Go Holy If you want to Arena. And Arena is where all the pvp is at anyway.

It doesn't really matter what spec you are for lvling a Paladin because either way you go, it'll be slow. So It's like choosing between a turtles pace to a snail's pace, big whoop in that department.

Shush Max's Mule. Nothing is so linear as you view it =3
DPS paladins are in abundance during levelling, because Ret is better then prot for levelling until 50+, imo, although you can start going prot effectively sometime in your 40s.

Arena isn't really viable pre-70. I'm talking pre-70 here, lulz. Raiding is totally different, and if you're raiding, you should know how to specc yourself, imo.

That's because both trees are more or less broken. T.T

AND FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS RESPECT EACHOTHER. Name calling is for elementary schoolers. Are we all 8 years old? I didn't think so, so play nice.

Why exactly do you have Master of Deception at lvl 70? ._. You really don't notice a huge difference without it...

With all the stealth detection in PvP, it's kinda needed, but PvE, it's not needed, especially in a raiding enviroment.

I'm currently learning how2priest, and this is my first build so far. I'm level 20. Armoury Halfabee for my current spec.

This is my idea for up to 70, but I dont know if I'll stick with holy/disc. I just wanted to play with it.
Any help (aside from lol u nub shadow plz) would be cool. Be gentle, I've never done this before.

Maximizing my healing capacity and minimizing mana costs was my main goal for this spec.

Please, please, please use WoWhead talent calculator. It's so much easier to play with.

Your build is alright, but has some problems, to tell the truth. Why do you have lightwell? If the raid really needs something like Lightwell, then you should tell them to start bringing bandages. Circle Of Healing is also "meh", it's really hard on your mana, and is only extremely useful if everyone is standing together in one spot, which is rare, and there will be in most raids healers assigned to tanks, and then a healer or two assigned to everyone else, but even then, if everyone else is actually taking enough damage that a whole group of people needs a big, mana-intensive heal like that, tell your tanks to lrn2play.

    Try something like this:

That is the best holy priest raiding specc that I know of. Kim might know more, but I'm hoping that whatever she suggests for a holy priest is similar to my build. gonk

This is the standard raiding spec for our holy priests.

Martyrdom has always been a joke of a talent, threat reduction is more valuable for a raiding priest. Trash will go for druids instead of you.

I've always had mixed feelings about unbreakable will versus wand spec. A raidwide fear that's resisted only by a priest will quickly turn that priest into the new tank.

The real problem with raiding priests right now is higher tier healing talents force them to spec out of essential utility talents (divine spirit, most noticeably). Speccing up to power infusion results in the loss of too many efficiency talents. Holy Concentration and the spirit bonus from spirit of redemption are better in the long run.

You don't need to go full shadow for leveling, 31 disc because just as good after about level 50. Just dump five points into spirit tap to nix downtime, and make sure your wand is kept up to date. Holy/disc leveling build: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=dVMhkIxtbtVof0xcZx

5/5 spirit tap first, then spec into improved wands, then go down the holy tree to divine fury, and move back to disc.

Power Infusion Healer - ((My priest current spec))

PvP solo- Mediocre
PvP Group - Good
PvE Solo - Above Average
PvE Group - Good
PvE Raid - Very good utility, otherwise only a mediocre healer

+ What Spellcaster does not love power infusion?
+ High Spirit
+ More mana efficient Instant heals (ex. Prayer of Mending, Renew)
+ Inspiration is a tank's dream
+ Improved Buffs and a good utility to any group

- Healing isn't that high compared to Healer build.
- DPS is poor unless you PI yourself, but might as well PI a mage or Warlock then.
- Soloing might be troublesome but not impossible

Circle of Healing Healer - ((Aka Holy Build))

PvP solo- Below Average
PvP Group - Above Average/Good
PvE Solo - So-so/Below Average
PvE Group - Very Good
PvE Raid - One of the best Main Healers

+ Awesome Single and Group Healing
+ Mana Efficient Heals (Both Instant casts and Cast heals)
+ Awesome Arena Healing Spec
+ One of the Best Raiding spec
+ Loved by everyone

- Lacks Spirit for Exceedingly long Fights
- Loses Mana pretty Fast
- Lack of Spirit Buff
- Poor DPS
- Soloing is really hard

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=dxg0zhLzbZfxtzczqVhc

All-Team Healer - ((Holy/Disc Hybrid Healer))

PvP solo- Average/Below Average
PvP Group - Average
PvE Solo - A tone above average
PvE Group - Very Good
PvE Raid - Very Good healer

+ Fairly Well Single and group Healer
+ Mana efficient heals ((Almost on par with Holy Healers))
+ High Spirit
+ Buff Queen

- Dps isn't too Great
- Lacks utility
- Soloing is a bit hard

I'm still in the mindset that Silent Resolve isn't worth the points, like it was pre-TBC, because I haven't raided since AQ first came out. I guess now it's standard to have in a build. gonk
