"I've met my share of stubborn fools. No fear," he growled, the thought of humans hurting a wolf making his blood boil. Those good for nothing . . .
"What did they do to him? How did they hurt him? Anything you can tell me will make it easier for me to help him."
What did a young wolf like him know about healing? Well, he wasn't a shaman, but he knew a thing or two about how the forest around them could ease pain and stop bleeding. He'd had practice.

"It was a suprise attack by their slaves. We didn't have any warning signs, no food for five days, we were both weak, but he fought like a wolf half his age." Alina reflected her perfect mask shifting into curling lips and exposure to her fangs.
"Those beasts ripped his quarter flank open. There was alot of blood, but that mangrel lost its life." Her caramel eyes were boiling hot with obvious anger.
"Do you mind me asking, one question?" She asked looking at the male, "Okay make it two, first one is what is your name?"

Blinking, he paused. How rude of him.
"Sorry. Deimos. And you?" he questioned back, his neck fur still bristled. In his mind, they could trade such information later, after he had done what he could to help the older male. They were wasting time.
"Can we move while we talk? It's best I get to your grandfather as quickly as possible."

"Alina," she replied quickly, suddenly feeling the tension before boil back to the top. "Yea, this way," was her second response as dipped paws quickly trailed an over grown path.
The scent of old blood grew thicker as they approached the temporary den that been discovered almost a week prior. Her ears flicker back to Deimos, in checking he was still following her, and Alina's nose caught the scent of her grandfather close to the entrance. Caramel eyes widened and the femme quickened her pace.
"No, no, no," she breathed out as her off-white tipped tail also disappeared deeper into the den. The bedding where her grandpa had been was cool, he had got up and left the den. Worry etched itself onto the dark face, the tail dipped suddenly and caramel eyes raced with the twitching nose. Where had Patches gone?

Alina. That was a pretty name, for a strange looking female. She seemed nice, if a little tense, yet she was still a female. He wasn't a puppy anymore, but deep inside, part of him still hated females and thought that all of them were evil.
Seeing the empty den, he turned from Alina and started sniffing the air and ground, picking up on the scent of the older wolf. He also smelled something not unlike burning wood; almost a smoky scent.
Pointing with his muzzle, he murmured, "I think he went this way . . . "

Panic was hidden by the shadows on the femme's face in the den as she looked at the spotted male. The wind tossed the smokey scent towards her nostrils and once Deimos pointed out a direction with his nose.
The femme bolted out of the den in a frenzy. Her heart pounded in her ears the strange symbols on her sides quivered as her muscels constricted and relaxed under her summer coat.
Pausing at a tree with broken bark in a straight line, an off-white paw lifted above the ground. The black island in the middle of her creme maw twitched viciously picking up on the scent of strangers and that bitter scent of dried skin. In an angry motion the femme's stone features shattered and her fangs were bared to the scents dancing around her.

Following close behind her, the fiery male let her figure things out, seeing as she knew the old one's scent far better than he did. But he couldn't get that smoky smell out of his nose. Did she smell it? Than again, he had always had a very strong sense of smell.
Perhaps the old one had gone for a drink and the humans had used their 'mongrels' to track down Patches. Had they used their deadly sticks as well? Was that where the smell was coming from?
Even though he knew nothing about these two, he hoped the old one was alright . . .

Looking over to Deimos, caramel eyes darting from the male's face to the ground. "The two-leggers have their boomboom sticks with them," her statement was in a bristling growl through clenched teeth.
The dark femme teen had no problem with Deimos, just the humans that hunted her grandfather and her constantily. The scent of strange blood came to her nose as well, the fierce spark shooting from the protective eyes spotted the dark stain on the grass and dirt.
"They shot their slaves tring to kill him," the words almost in audioable as they rumbled from Alina's throat. Along the untamed path of overgrowth weeds and plants, the sign of dragging paws and larger strange paw prints moved off in the distance of the low distance crackling of a stream.
A pow echoed into the trees from the direction in which the disturbed trail led. The scents were too strong for just a couple two-leggers and their mongrels, there was a small hunting party once again.
"How many do you think there is?" she questioned Deimos lowering her head hostility towards the direction of the water, the dark tail bristled and every muscle was constricted with the urge to spring into a blistering sprint.

His nose was already in the air, picking apart the millions of scents that assaulted his sensitive nose. He could pick out 5 wolf-like things, and two humans; a veritable army, considering the humans had their boom-boom sticks and there were only two of them. He assumed that Patches would be too wounded to fight. If they had caught the old one by the water, he was doomed.
"This way," he growled, abruptly dodging to the right. They were going to take a longer way around, but it was downwind, and the wolf-but-not-wolves wouldn't catch their scents until it was too late.

Watching Deimos, for the seconds it took him to calculate the numbers of their 'enemies', Alina's claws dug into the soft dirt. Her eyes looked in the direct direction of the hunting party in the direction of the water way. The femme was not exactly her normal self, docile and respective to her grandfather, completely overly protective, cold, and tense.
Not losing a beat beside the spotted red male, the dark femme was like a smaller dantier shadow. However no less of a threat. Cream dipped paws pounded the leaved forest floor, the wind came down from the left.
"There will be a sentry posted somewhere close by," she informed her comrade. Deimos wasn't like any other male she had seen from the distance. His willingness to help out a stranger, her grandfather, made the cold Alina see that it wasn't all that bad in the forest, and her heart warmed to this kind somewhat tense stranger.

Taking in this new information, he reevaluated his plan, moving slightly more towards the right as he ran. The sentry would no doubt be positioned directly between the hunters and the trees, so Deimos would come in from the very side. It was their best shot for a sneak attack.
Suddenly, he paused, motioning for Alina to creep forward from here. He would go another dozen feet down and they would attack from in a wide arc, more easily distracting the hunters.
"I'll jump out first, and distract their slaves, leading them in circles. You go only after I have all of their attentions, which will do doubt attract the humans attentions as well. Get to your grandfather, and get him away."
Pushing off, he jumped away, disappearing quickly into the thick brush. Only moments went by before the hounds in the clearing began barking like mad, their unified voices drifting together to one side. She heard the humans shout.

((sorry this reply has taken forever. x.x wink )
The sound of the human shouting made Alina break her circling/ pacing course and kick up dirt as she sprinted towards the babbling stream. Her grandfather had to be alive, she wouldn't accept anything else.
The femme shook her head, "No time for that type of thinking." she growled at herself. Nose skimming the ground as she broke into the clearing, Deimos had the mongrels and their masters running circles.
Ears flickered to the trees, the injured slave was moving out to check out the chaos it was being left out of. A low growl ruptured out of Alina's throat, but she turned to scanning the sides of the stream with her caramel eyes.
She could smell a little bit of blood up wind, but her grandfather's scent was ended at the stream. Jumping into the moving water the frantic femme looked both up and down stream. Nothing.
Just then the sentry came out of the trees and barked out his alarm to the others. Wide eyed and upset, Alina spun around baring her teeth and charging at the weakened fool. The sound of clashing fangs and a vicious cycle of growls erupted from the pair.
