Davrick was leaning on his staff as if it were a walking stick, slowly walking down the winding roads of Balamb. A weapon shipment his men had stolen was to be deported to Esthar, Sorceress Adel' orders. His hood did not conceal his face at all, his long black hair and pale skin easily seen in the light. Even the bandage around his eyes was noticable, but he didn't care. No one knew who he was but those who he wished to know. He placed his staff at his side and stood still for a moment as two men walked towards him. "Sir.." One said, "operation's going smoothly. It was quite a steal we made here. The lock number was just as you said, and we managed to tamper with the inventory sheets without a hitch. Ship's being loaded up as we speak." Davrick nodded and said, "You've done quite well, Zarga. It was a straightforward assignment, after all. Had you mismanaged this..I have no doubt that your failure would be seen as heresy.Ah, you are right to hold your position with fear." He commented, amused. The two men left the Seer, turning back the way they had come and returning to their ship.

Tiana got up and started pacing, staring out at the ocean. She wanted so badly to be SeeD...then she could see more of the outside world. So absorbed was she in her thoughts that she didn't even notice that there was someone in front of her. "Oomph!" she grunted as she collided with the person.

Davrick was almost knocked off his feet, stumbling backwards. "You insolent wretch! Watch where you're going!" he yelled, as his hood slipped down around his neck, his black hair falling down over is covered eyes. After a brief pause his scowl dissapeared. "It's you.." he said, slightly surpised.

Tiana narrowed her eyes as she recovered her balance. "Kalo..." She laughed. "Of course it's me," she said, slightly miffed. "I couldn't very well be someone else, after all?" She eyed him warily. "You seem to be in the area an awful lot..."

He ran a hand through his hair and smiled. "I told you before, didn't I? I'm here on strict business...nothing you should worry about though." He added, resting both hands on his staff.

Tiana smiled back, keeping her reservations carefully hidden. She had her doubts as to his veracity...but whatever. As long as she was able to become SeeD...that was all that mattered to her. "Hmmm...must be interesting business. But you work for the sorceress, who's intent on destroying Garden. Why should I not be worried?"

"Ah.." His face turned towards the ocean, against the sun. He turned back to her and shrugged. "Indirect affairs...harmless things, really. Believe it or not, the Sorceress is a governing power. We have obligations to society." He said, matter-of-factly. "In any case, you should be a SeeD soon..You have the quality they desire." Davrick said, shortly.

Tiana eyed him doubtfully. "If you say so..." Then her eyes narrowed. "How so? You sound as if it's a bad thing...when we get training that enabled me to capture you easily. Morals and politics aside, SeeD is an elite force."

"You are puppets..they make puppets of children. The moment you enter their world, you are an instrument of death. When does it end, Tiana?" he questioned her, tilting his head slightly.

She widened her eyes and stepped back, shaking her head. "I don't know..." Recovering herself, at least outwardly, she lifted her chin and glared at him. "Are you any better? Admit it...you're just a puppet along with the others, following orders for fear of being accused of heresy if you do otherwise. At least I have the option to leave without fear of pursuit. You don't." Inwardly, she was shaken...but he wasn't about to dissuade her from her path. He would not!

"You are quite right, of course..however, how many from your garden can you say would be able to survive if they left now? Where would they go? Do they have family?..Most were raised dependant on the Gardens, don't you think? Is it so different? At least when all is said and done with Sorceress Adel, violence will no longer be a requirement." He raised his chin slightly.

Tiana laughed. "A pretty ideal...but it doesn't work. There will always be rebels, those who prefer violence to talking things out. There will always be those who differ, who don't agree, but aren't neccessarily wrong. What shall you do with them, hmm? Simply slaughter them all?" She spat on the ground. "Hell, if I left I could get a job with any army. I could probably be an officer quite easily."

"The life you would have to lead, yes. It is all set before you." He agreed. "Those who cause distress live distresseful lives. A disease in society that prevents progress...surely even your Gardens have rules to follow. He raised his eyebrows at her and continued. "You would make a fine general in our army."

Tiana shook her head sadly. "It always was, Kalo. Ever since I lost my parents. Garden was the one to take me in...I decided to study of my own choice. I owe them." She shivered. "I will not be helpless...I will not meet my parents' fate." Then she laughed and looked at him as if he'd said something quite funny. "That only goes to show the quality of your troops. Quality over quantity, m'boy."
