Something that he couldn’t to the teachers about? That didn’t sound too good. Then again he had had things like this happen with George. He had had a few scares where he thought that something big was going to happen but then it turned out that it wasn’t all that important. He was going to have to mention that to someone, but he wasn’t going to push it.
“Well I’m glad that I managed to help you feel better. Teachers are supposed to help new students feel as comfortable as they can…” He sighed. He supposed that he should let RuiZhi talk to someone… He knew from George that that normally helped people, especially if they were somewhere new and weren’t used to the people around there… “You know I suppose that I could let you call someone, if it’s not too long or too far away.”

RuiZhi's eyes opened wide. He was truly expecting to be in trouble, or at least be reprimanded, but... "Thank you, Professor Larine," he said earnestly, clasping his sleeved hands in front of his stomach. "She's at the wharf where the boat left, but I...I don't know how far that is." Honestly, he didn't know how receptive she'd be to being called in the middle of work, but he had a feeling that she wouldn't mind. No, she'd probably demand that someone had better be dying if she was being interrupted, then offer to put someone in that situation. She had a way of joking that made him feel like a child. He wanted to hear her voice, to feel that he belonged to a family again...
The boy lowered his gaze, wiping at his eyes suddenly. "If it's n-not too far, it wont take long. She's not a girl of many words, anyw-way." RuiZhi hiccuped a little, one of his signs that he was trying to keep himself from being upset. He felt his composure slipping away as his sleep deprived mind was forced into his confused thoughts and memories. He bit the inside of his cheek, trying to remind himself that there was a Professor here, and he was still a student. Crying like a baby wasn't going to help.

“Eh, it’s okay.” Greg said with a shrug. “And the person that you’re calling… it is the person that spent time with Kenth, right?” He had to ask that. He knew that it might be a little rude, but if the girl had spent time with Kenth then he wanted to know how he was and… well it would be nice to be a little more well informed when he went to see Kenth. “I’ve got a couple cells.” He did, although he didn’t say that he had them because he was still bounty hunting during the off times, and he still liked to keep in touch with his contacts, and it probably wasn’t something that the school would be completely okay with.
“That’s good, here you go.” He said, handing the boy the cell phone. “Just go ahead and dial, although if it’s the girl that helped Kenth I’d like to talk to her too.”

"Yes, she is," RuiZhi bobbed his head in agreement, barely getting his hands up in time to accept the phone. He blinked several times, staring at the phone before nodding again, giving the Professor a brief but sincere smile. "I'm sure she'd like to speak with you, too." He hesitated for a moment before punching in the number that he'd memorized, his heart starting to speed up. It rang only a few times before a gruff male answered.
"C-could I speak with...with, uh, her name is--" He stopped suddenly, nodding at the phone although no one but the Professor could see him. RuiZhi suddenly went very still, listening as sudden laughter of many men could be heard clearly. For a moment, RuiZhi thought of hanging up the phone, and not saying anything. He hiccuped again, feeling his eyes burn. He shouldn't bring her into his mess...
The boy's face crumpled a little at the sound of her nickname for him; he could hear the surprise in her voice, along with the worry. How she picked up who it was just from a hiccup... "S-sister..." Her concern broke him, as he started to speak in rapid Chinese. " Again, he stopped, his sadness and grief turning sharply into surprise and embarrassment. "Yes," he said, returning to English. "I never said you were!" He was somewhat indignantly, listening with pursed lips, trying to keep from shaking. A briefly puzzled expression crossed his face. "I did, yes...no, I'm not," he glanced to the Professor. RuiZhi sighed, smiling as though he hadn't had an outburst mere seconds ago. "I'll check it when I can, I...what? No, it's a Professor's...I think you'll want to speak with him, sister, and he would like to speak with you."
Another pause, although this one was longer. The boy's face went from anxious to relaxed, a little smile of disbelief on his lips. "Yes, sister. I'll do that, then. Would you like to speak with him?" A pause. "The Professor." RuiZhi laughed a little, then nodded, handing the phone back to Greg. "Thank you, Professor," he said, almost looking like his normal self.

Greg took the phone from RuiZhi with a smile. “Hello?…Yes, hello ma'm. My name is Greg Larien and I understand that you spent some time with Kenth Larien miss...?” There was a bit of silence as she responded, then “Please, call me Greg. If you've spent time with Kenth then I think that it's alright for you to call me such, mis-Alex. He's a very good judge of character. Besides it makes me feel older than I like to admit. But I was wondering... well just about the time that you spent with my brother.”
Greg was quiet again, once more you could guess that the person on the other end was talking, and he smiled a little, though it was wistful and tampered with sadness, “It's fine. He doesn't really talk about anyone in his family. We're... well not a part of his life anymore, at least not as far as I know. Well not dwelling on sad things, I guess... I guess that I'd like to know things like how long did you two work together? How was he? Is anything wrong with him? Did he seem okay? Just things like that.…
“…I see... And no, mi-Alex, it wasn't more than I wanted to hear. I would love to hear more if you get the time, after all I haven't really heard anything from him in a long while, so anything is welcome when I hear it.... I'm... I'm glad that things went so well with you and him working together. If you get more time I'd like to talk to you more.” He chuckled a little at something that the other said. “Well I'll have to take you up on that offer.“ And the turned away from RuiZhi and spoke lower, so that the other couldn’t hear. The rest of the conversation was rather low, spoken so that RuiZhi couldn’t hear, and then Greg hung the phone up.
He turned back to RuiZhi and smiled politely at the boy. “Well she’s very nice.” He said. “You must like her a lot. I can see why Kenth would let her work with him. Thank you for letting me talk to her.”

RuiZhi collected his belongings as the Professor spoke with his sister, trying not to eavesdrop but unable to ignore it all. He had a lot to think about, and a task to do, one that the woman had thought would help him through his studies. His brown eyes stared blankly into nothing, vaguely hearing Greg's voice, his fingers moving over the hard cover of the books on the desk. There was much to think about...but he'd have to worry about it after he got a decent night's rest.
The boy moved all the books and his notes into his arms, turning in time to see the Professor wrapping up his conversation. RuiZhi started to smile almost immediately; the other man's smile seemed less strained, more professional and without the conflicted edge. "Thank you, Professor Larine, for letting me use your phone. I'm glad you think well of her." He didn't know why, but he was glad for the red-headed's approval of her. The Professor seemed like a nice man, and some of the uncertainty in the boy's mind had lifted. "I hope she answered your questions."
He paused, then added, "I'm glad you came in here." His voice was more sincere than he had meant to sound, making him cough and add hastily, "I wouldn't have met you otherwise, I don't think, seeing as you don't teach something that doctor's can learn." RuiZhi grinned weakly; he really, really wasn't that good and making jokes to make a situation lighter.

“Of course, RuiZhi.” He said with a smile. “And she answered my questions quite well, actually. Better than I could have hoped for anyway.” He was happy with what he had learned, especially as it was about Kenth, who was someone that he didn’t get a lot of information on. He was really going to have to go and talk to his brother himself though. It wasn’t doing him much good to just get information about his well being, after all he knew that he was alright, he just wanted to talk to his brother.
“It was nice to meet you as well, RuiZhi.” Greg said with a chuckle in response to his comment about him coming in. “But I’m sure that you would have met me evidentially; my amazing personality makes it hard to miss me, and the singular looks don’t hurt either.” He smiled again. "But I suppose for now, so long."

RuiZhi grinned a little more, giving a slight shake of his head, sending his braid over his shoulder once more. "I believe that," he said with good humor. The shock of red hair and bright blue eyes would be hard to miss. He had a nice smile, when he used it. "Ah, yes, I have to get my class work sorted, so...thank you again, Professor Larine." He smiled brightly, giving a little wave as he excused himself and walked out of the classroom, practically skipping down the hall.
