 Mentor Reflection
"How would you describe your mentoree?" She's a bit on the violent side, but that's nothing I can't handle. High spirited is probably the best word for it. She knows hitting and kicking because that's all she's been taught. I'm sure if she were allowed to develop other talents the violent stuff would tame down. She's been at her worst and now the entire world is an enemy.
"What does he/she like or dislike especially?" Hm..two things. Coddling and being yelled at. I suppose we could count being threatened..but nobody likes that. Yelling makes her feel threatened, so she responds with threat in kind. That's natural. Coddling makes her feel weak and like she owes something. I think if it were done in the right way, she might grow to like it though. Even if she is rough, she likes people to play with her, or do things with her, even if she's not sure how to be nice about it. Faigel is trying to project a tough image, but I'm sure that she's really just scared and hurt and needs to be loved.
"What behavioral problems do you think he/she may have?" Hitting is not socially acceptable behavior. Those wings can really pack a punch. I still have the bruises. Other than that, I really think she just needs to calm down and stop being paranoid. Once she gets the idea of a safe and loving enviroment, I'm sure she'll be a perfect little angel.
"How are you planning on coping with or correcting them?" She needs to be showered with love and care. Children need unconditional love, no matter from their birth parents or from an unrelated caretaker. I was like that once..because a parent's love is so important to a child, it's easy for the parent to make it conditional. I'll love you if you obey me. I'll love you if you do what you're supposed to. That ruins people. I will be there to love her and support her and we can both grow from there.
"What is your current lifestyle like?" Eh..compared to an office worker, I'd say relaxed. I work at a theatre, so my hours are funny, but man! Production is stressful and my work does follow me home, which is not nessessarily a bad thing if you're into the idea of being well acquainted with the performing arts, being well cultured and the whole bit. We work hard but it's worth every second.
"Can you accomadate a child?" If our Lion could raise me and Pi, I'm sure I can afford to spare some time for Faigel. She probably needs it more than I do.
"Do you have other children and how might they react?" No. Not really. I've got friends with kids in case she needs someone to play with though. The one Pi, who's about old enough to be a babysitter. Caden, Wolfie's kid, who is a bit younger than her actually.
"How do you think other members of your household will react?" Technically, I do not have a household, but I'm sure Shakespeare's Rose will love her. She's beautiful, now if I could only get her to smile.
"Why do you think you would make a good mentor?" I may not be the experianced parent these compainies usually like, but I know what it is to face conditional love and fail. I would never let that befall any child if I can help it. Even if you don't want me to really raise her, I'll do whatever I can to make sure she knows she is loved.

Mentor Journal A letter to Rawley
Dear Rawley,
How have you been. Things are okay here. I got selected for one of those mentor programs I told you about. It's the one at FactS and now I'm practically raising a kid. Her name's Faigle Whitehawk. You'd like her. She's a little wild, but she sure has a lot of fight packed into that little body. Her stipend isn't bad either. I know I don't need it, but I thought I'd mention that, since you'll probably start scolding me about how a child is a responsibility and that I need to provide the absolute best for her. So, don't doubt that I am.
She has light blond hair and grey eyes, and the most gorgeous pair of white wings. Not like an angel though, she's much too tough for that. Her file says that she hasn't been treated real well. Would you believe this kid's been to six different foster homes already? That means she's been rejected six times! No wonder she's not very trusting. Now that she's been with me for about half a year, she's an absolute sweetheart!
It's funny how things can change. When I first met her, she kicked me in the head and smacked me a good one with those dang wings of hers. They're pretty, but they're mighty strong too, like swans. Do you remember the story about the swan that clubbed a kid to death for raiding her nest? That's a little what she was like. I suppose she's taken a liking to me, because she follows me everywhere now, but she's always very quiet. I think I would have preferred a noisier child, since I'm pretty rambunctious myself, but I do believe I've grown attached to her.
Let me know how things are going with the Virik/Board of Education case and if you'll be in town soon. It's been a while since you and I talked face to face. Tell Mom and Dad, well, you know. And good luck.
- Sean

She's still very suspicious of new people and still a bit of a bully, but she's become very affectionate towards me and she does have some semblance of manners. Actually, she's very well behaved if you don't count getting into fights with other kids. She's quiet and not very troublesome, but I tell you, this kid still has fire in her. She's very..intense, for lack of a better word.
As for appearance, her hair has gotten a little longer. I haven't trimmed it yet, but it's actually quite cute as it is. She's got this little tuft at the part of her hairline that sticks up. She'll wear whatever you tell her to, but she prefers shorts over skirts because she's still very active. I also got her a pair of new shoes. She adores them, maybe not for the right reasons (I suspect that they involve how the thick soles and stiff toes allow her to kick really hard.). Shirts, we are still struggling with because of the wings.
