Hmm...where could Elisa have gone? Osha glanced around. There were the guardians, under a tree. They were talking...but no Elisa. Hmm. The readhead started to wander down the path, checking behind rocks and trees for the younger soul. No Elisa. He spun around and trotted down the other way, checking behind some bushes and near the stuffed animals. Still no Elisa. Frowning, the boy trotted towards the guardians. Maybe they had seen which way the girl had headed. He paused, a thought occuring to him. ...wouldn't that be cheating?
Where hadn't he looked yet? Oh! The forest! With newfound ambition, he jogged off towards the trees. There were plenty of placed for him to look here.
Zack decided he rather liked this Ivan fellow. A man after his own heart, he was. He wriggled on the blanket a little before finally finding a comfortable spot. "That's how it is, huh?" he chortled. "Whaddya do, anyways?" Heh. Maybe he was a starving artist too.

Elisa burrowed herself deeper into the tree trunk. The whole point of hiding and seek was not to be found, and if she simply was hanging out of the truck, she'd be found in no time. The tree seemed to have no end though. Elisa kept crawling and crawling, and she couldn't see any light that might indicate the other side of it. How long was this tree anyway? Sure, trees were large, but they weren't this long. Were they?
Deciding it was best to stop crawling, Elisa sat down in the place where she stopped. This was a great hiding spot! Osha would never find it! He probably didn't even think to come into the forest. Of course not. Elisa was smart. Of course she thought of the forest first. But of course.
Grinning wildly to herself, Elisa's glee was quickly subdued when she felt a creepy crawly inch its way across her legs.
"NO!" The girl involuntarily screamed. Great. Now she probably gave up her hiding spot, but what was even greater was not knowing how to get out of the tree trunk.
Ivan had to think about this for a minute. What did he do? He felt he did a lot and contributed to the world around him, but his mother thought otherwise. Their phone conversations were always a joy. "Ivan, what are you doing with your life?" Or "Ivan, you’re mooching off of Evie AGAIN? Jeez! I’m surprised she still puts up with you! Twin bond? Twin bond, my a**!" Or even, "BLAH BLAH BLAH!" To Ivan, the conversations always sounded like the third option.
"Eh...I do a lil' of this an' a lil' o' that. Me main passion is writin' though."
Rolling her eyes, Evie couldn't believe Ivan. A little of this and that? Yea right. Ivan didn't do anything but sit on her couch and sleep.

Osha was questing onwards, pressing deeper and deeper into the unknown on his search for the younger soul. He checked behind rocks, behind trees, up in trees, in a bush. He had a run in with one of those nasty pricker-bushes too, but it didn't take a genius to figure out Elisa wouldn't be hiding in there. He stopped and looked around. Good. He could still see the path that took him in here. Crawling over another log, he was about to check behind another bush when he heard a loud shriek. Excellent! The redhead whirled around and bounded off in the direction from which it came.
Upon reaching the source, the child stood, puzzled by Elisa's choice in hiding places. This was a log. It was a large, skinny log. It sure sounded like the scream came from over here... "...Elisa? Are you in there?"
Zack had no right to speak about occupations. He dropped out of high school at age sixteen to persue a career in music. Obviously, he wasn't cut out for such a job in the least bit. Something about no ambition to match his passion. Bah, motivation. He just lived with Seamus for...what...almost ten years now. Except now Seamus was getting married and Zack suddenly found himself high and dry with no essential life skills. The man tuned in right at the end of Ivan's sentence. Writing? It's true! Artist!
"I'm a would-be musician," Zack chortled. "What about you, Evie? If he doesn't win any bread, you must have a pretty nice job to support all three of ya."

"No!" The toddler said angrily to Osha's question. She wasn't in the log. It was all an illusion. Well...she was in the log, but Osha didn't need to know that. Stupid crawly making her give away her hiding spot. Wait. Crawly. Where did that creepy crawly go? It had to be in the log with her still, right?
No! Bad! Elisa didn't want to be stuck in the truck with dirty bugs and things! Why did she hide in here in the first place? It was gross! Too gross for Elisa, but she hid in there anyway. Now she was stuck with creepy crawlies all over the place.
She needed a bath. Now...
"No...Yes...Elisa in here. Elisa stuck!"
Ivan couldn't help but laugh give his sister a noogie before answering Zack's question for her. "Blanket, 'ere is a college student. She gets all 'er money from mumzy!"
Scowling, Evie straightened her already curly mess as best as she could. "At least I have money, and don't call me that!"

...no? Osha blinked and peered at the log. But...he just heard Elisa yell! And logs certainly didn't speak! Even at six years old, he was quite sure of that. "...are you sure?" he asked, stepping closer and attempting to look inside the large log. He wrinkled his nose. It smelled like wet leaves. Icky things lived it wet leaves...like bugs. Gavin loved creepy crawly things, but Osha most certainly did not. His best friend could keep all those ickies to himself.
Then the log decided to speak again. Oh! It was Elisa. He sure thought so. "Stuck?" He shuffled forward, stuffing himself into the small hole. Funny. He didn't fit in there very well. He reached forward, feeling around for a part he could grab on to and pull her out with...and instead ended up with a handful of slimy leaves. He squeaked in disgust, whipping his hand back like he'd been stung. "Can't reach!" he informed her. "I...I'm gonna go get Zack now. Stay here." He blinked. Not...that she could go anywhere, or anything.
"Be right back!" he said, trotting off in the direction he came.
Meanwhile, Zack was oblivious to the children's problem. He was too busy being amused by the twins. It was times like these he was quite glad he was an only child. He didn't have to put up with any crap like that. He chuckled a little, shaking his head. "You're lucky. My mother wouldn't give me a dime." She'd just nag him for dropping out, or something like that. He was getting along just fine with his odd jobs, so he just spared himself the lecture.
Just then, Osha trotted up and stood by Zack's side. Blinking, he looked up at the boy. "What can I do you for, kiddo?"
"Stuck!" he exclaimed, leaning down to pull Zack to his feet. "C'mon! I show you!" As soon as his guardian was standing, the boy grabbed his sleeve and started pulling him in the direction of the woods, and then to the log. "We coming, Elisa!"

Did Osha just leave her? He did, but he was bringing help. He still left her though...left her with the creepy crawlies. Hiding in this log really was a bad idea. Sure, she didn't have really have time to think of a better place since a million came and went, but why the forest? She thought she was being smart about it, but she should have just left when she realized how dirty it was.
When Osha told her to stay where she was, Elisa couldn't help but cross her arms and pout. Go anywhere? Where was she going to go? She was stuck, so it's not like she could just magically separate herself from the log and go somewhere.
Hopefully Zack could do something...Ivan was useless but fun to manipulate, but maybe this Zack could help? Or even Evie? Yes. Help.
"Elisa stay. Hurry!" Yes. Hurry, indeed. The missing creepy crawly had to be around here somewhere...
Stuck? Was it Elisa? Mostly likely seeing as Osha came running alone, but where was she stuck? Before either of the twins could ask any questions, they sprinted behind Zack and Osha off towards the woods.
The woods? Elisa went into the woods? This didn't seem like a place she would normally venture. Hopefully she was all right though.
Peering into the log, Evie got on all fours and frantically brushed back her hair from her face. "Elisa! Are you all right!?" The guardian spazzed sticking her head in.
Waiting for a response, all Evie got was an "Ew" and "Yes". The creepy crawly must have found her again.
Sitting in a slump, Evie looked up at the others, feeling complete defeated. "What are we going to do?"

"Elisa! I bring them!" Osha cried, letting go of Zack once the adults figured out where the girl was. He stood behind them, trying to watch as they saved Elisa. ...they were going to save Elisa, weren't they? Osha frowned. It certainly seemed like they were doing a whole lot of nothing. Elisa was stuck! They should be getting her out before she got all slimy and wet like those gross leaves!
Zack frowned, stepping back from the log to let Evie investigate. It was her child stuck in a log. He blinked, wondering exactly why the girl had gotten into the log in the first place. He glanced down at Osha, but the redhead said nothing. Huh. Well, he could question the child later. Right now, the important thing was rescueing poor Elisa from her prison. He watched Evie, glancing over at Ivan as she spoke. Well, it would appear he didn't have any good ideas.
He crouched down to get a better look at the perdicament. Well, the log was far to small for him to try and crawl in to pull her out. He frowned. It also seemed to narrow as it went, so pulling Elisa out from the other end wasn't exactly an option. ...the log did seem pretty old, though...
"Elisa? It's Zack. Now...I'm gonna try to get you out of here, but you have to stay perfectly still for a moment, okay?" he told her, standing. He didn't want her to get hurt. "Alright, here goes." And with that, he gave the rotting log a good, solid thump with his boot, making a pretty good-sized hole. Thrice more, and the log was all but split. Elisa should be able to wriggle her way out now.

Was that Osha now? He came back then? Good. He needed to save her from the creepy crawlies. They were crawling all over her now, and Elisa was faring to well with them. She felt gross. Completely gross. What she truly needed, being saved being the second option, was to take a bath. She needed the filth and creepy crawlies washed off her now! She couldn't even cringe at the filth anymore since she was the filth.
Disgusting.
Then Elisa heard Zack. Osha was going to save her! He brought the adults!
Watching Zack stomp the log, Evie felt completely useless and felt gratitude for this complete stranger. First, he is forced to be in the middle of her bickering with Ivan, and now he was the only one doing anything to save Elisa. What type of guardian was she? She couldn't even save Elisa from a log! She couldn't do anything. All she did was feel pity for herself. Maybe Ivan was right all along. He told her the day she met Elisa that she wouldn't be a good caregiver. Maybe he was right. Maybe this was all a mistake.
Seeing the boot go through the log, Elisa was grateful. Good. People were trying to help her. Crawling over to the hole, she peeked out, standing up through it to reveal a brunette covered in dirt, leaves, and even a few bugs hanging off of her.
"Hello?"

Zack stepped back, giving the young girl room to wiggle out. He smiled as Elisa emerged. Other than being a little dirty, she seemed to be perfectly fine. No cuts, no scrapes and no other signs of bleeding. He leaned down, brushing a few bugs out of her hair. "There you go, kiddo." He smiled, pulling a particularly stubborn insect from his perch. "That better?"
Osha continued to hang behind the adults, watching Zack with wide eyes as he broke the log. He wouldn't squish Elisa, would he? His question was answered momentarily, the young girl crawling out of the dirty mess. The redhead wrinkled his nose. Ew. Bugs. Slimy leaves. Dirt. That was really quite gross. He stepped forward as Zack starting brushing bugs off her, leaning forward to pluck off a few icky leaves, throwing them aside. "Okay now?"
Zack couldn't help but smile brighter as his son came over to help clean the girl up. He was a good boy, he decided, ruffling his hair before glancing over at Evie and Ivan, giving them a sheepish look. Oops. He hadn't meant to step in like that.

Totally ignoring the adults, even though Zack was the one that saved her, Elisa turned her attention to Osha. "Elisa not okay!" The toddler began, dusting the icky off of her. "Elisa need bath!" And it was true. Sure, Zack helped remove some of the grime off of her, and she was very grateful for that. Unfortunately, she was still icky, and she wasn't taking too kindly to this feeling. Only ugly things were icky, and Elisa was pretty!
There were other important matters that needed to be discussed though. "Osha saved Elisa!" Osha was her Pretty-Colors Savior! She would have to thank him somehow...
Gazing up at Zack from the ground, Evie didn't know what to think. He saved Elisa, and she didn't know how to react. Overwhelmed with emotion, Evie lunged herself at Zack, tears streaming from her eyes. "Thank you so much!" She felt awkward doing so, seeing as she just met him, but he saved her daughter. Uncontrollable emotions will do that to you.
Feeling awkward himself, Ivan walked over to the guardians and simply patted them both on the back.

Osha had to agree. Right now, Elisa did need a bath. He nodded, frowning a bit. He'd just keep picking leaves off her until her mommy could take her home to wash up. But not the bugs. Bugs were gross. He'd leave the bugs for Zack. Zack was grown up. It was his job to get rid of yucky things like that.
The boy blushed a little at her proclamtion. "Nah-uh," he insisted, shaking his head. He just went and got Zack, and then Zack was the one who rescued her. He looked down at his feet, shuffling a little. "I just help."
Zack blinked, stumbling a few feet back as Evie glomped him. Well. That was pretty unexpected. And how she was crying? Oh god. Ohgodohgodohgod. What was he supposed to do now? "It's nothing," he finally replied, gently patting the woman on her back. "Really. I was just trying to help." She didn't need to get all emotional like that! Elisa was fine, he just helped her out of the stupid log!

So modest this Pretty was! He did save her, and yet, he denied it all together. Humble Pretty.
"Lies, Osha!" Elisa exclaimed as she itched closer to the Pretty. She felt icky and dirty and just walking and standing around made her feel even more disgusting, but she had to make this Pretty understand! Hopefully her grossness didn't upset the Pretty.
She really needed a bath...
"Osha saved Elisa from the creepy crawlies!"
Feeling entirely embarrassed, Evie quickly broke away and nervously played with a curl. Did she just do that? Blah. Ivan was right...all the women in the family were the same. They acted with their emotions. Though, she was nothing like her mother. Thank goodness. Her mother was just...scary and slightly crazy...
Still playing with the curl, Evie's eyes darted to the ground. "It's not nothing. I thank you...I just got a bit...carried away."
Ivan smirked a little and nodded his head. Evie was turning into their mother! Not as bad, obviously, since she wasn't beating Zack over the head with anything. "Got that right. Ya scared the poor bloke..."

Osha glanced up at Elisa, a blush spreading across his cheeks. Really! He hadn't done anything special! Flustered, he shook his head back and forth again. "Zack saved you, silly!" He wasn't big enough to stomp on the log and he wasn't long enough to pull her out either. "I just get him. I just brush you off too." He nodded. That wasn't special either. She was full of dirt and stuff. Blinking, he leaned forward and brushed of a particularly large insect, squealing in disgust as it started to crawl up his arm. He shook his hand wildly, only ceasing when he was sure he'd flung the bug into oblivion. "See. Just brushing buggies off."
Zack couldn't help the small sigh of relief as Evie finally let go of him after what felt like an enternity in a vice grip. "Ohh...um...it's cool..." he replied slowly, pushing a hand through his hair sheepishly. He couldn't help the smirk the small smile threatening to spread across his lips as Ivan teased his sister. No, Zack. That was wrong. She was just grateful for his help, was all. Nothing wrong with that. He opened his mouth, blinked, and closed it again, realizing he had nothing left to say.

Osha was getting into the technicalities now. Sure, Zack was the one that broke the log, but if it wasn't for Osha, Zack wouldn't have come. Thus, Osha was her savior, or at least in her eyes. He also helped with the creepy crawlies. They were gross and made Elisa sad. Since Osha helped there, he got another savior check. With all of this, Elisa couldn't help but frown at her savior's modesty. Being humble is a good thing sometimes, but not at a time like this. Elisa needed to thank him.
Despite being dirty, seeing as she didn't care as much at this moment, Elisa stood up on tip-toes and kissed Osha on the cheek. It was the lady-like thing to do when a damsel was rescued by her hero. Or at least that’s what they did in the movies Ivan watched...then they did something else, but she wasn't going there...
"Thank you, Pretty-Colors Savior!"
Ivan was grinning ear to ear. He loved making Evie feel stupid. He loved his sister and all but she was such a wet blanket. It was fun to watch her squirm and freak out. This was just an another amusing day.
Oh well. It was over now. Sort of.
Walking over Zack, Ivan slapped him on the back. "That's enough excitement for today. Why don' you two come back to our place fer a drink."
Evie nodded. Indeed. It was a little retribution. "Yes, please. Think it as, 'thank you'. We can order out too..."

Of course Osha was getting into technicalities! He really didn't feel like he deserved all this praise! He was only doing the right thing to do, Elisa being stuck and all. Oh well. And suddenly, Elisa was on her tippy-toes, placing a soft kiss on Osha's cheek. The child blinked and blinked again, putting a hand to where Elisa had just kissed him, giving her a wide-eyed look. Umm. Umm. Ummmmm...
"You're welcome...?" That was an appropriate thing to say, right?
Zack just watched the pair, feeling a little awkward and out of place. He was about to ramble of something totally random and unrelevent when Ivan saved the day, inviting him and Osha over for drinks. Well, that sounded a lot better than whatever he was about to blurt out! And free food on top of it! "I'd love to!" He glanced down at the redhead. "Whaddya say, kiddo?"
Osha blinked, looking up at his guardian. He nodded. Going over to Elisa's house could be fun. She probably had neat toys.
