i really glad that they make these shows the way they do, sci-fi needs to be a little tongue in cheek. If they'd tried to make them too serious, with non of the fun elements they wouldn't be anywhere near as watchable. they remind me of the original Star Trek shows in that way, though with much better special effects of course! 2 episodes of Star Trek run back to back at some unGodly hour on a Friday night/Saturday morning at the moment, if it's my 3 day weekend i often end up laughing my head off over those whee

*giggles* That sounds good, Jelly! whee I still have fond memories of Blake's 7... you couldn't possibly take it seriously, but it was great fun! blaugh The humour is an essential element of Doctor Who, I agree, and at its best these days, it's very sharp and so fast, you have to be quick to catch it. xd

I enjoyed the second episode, too. biggrin Different pace and type of story to the first episode, and very well handled, I thought. (It slightly disappointed me, right at the end, when they ran for the Tardis, and the witches' orb was nowhere to be seen in either the Doctor's or Martha's hands… but the Doctor had just said he would take it back there to keep securely… or is that just me being picky?? rolleyes ) Great going so far, and I hope this keeps up! (I still can't help sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop, after so many great episodes last season, but with a couple of real clangers included, like the Peter Kay fiasco… xp )

I used to hear rumors that there would be another episode like that this series. rolleyes I don't mind the "what it would be like to be an ordinary person living in the Doctor's universe" angle, but I still don't care much for L&M so it had better be done a lot less stupidly if the rumor is true. I saw the last couple of minutes of the 1st Confidential on YouTube, which had a montage of clips from the series as a teaser, & I saw space pigs! What the heck are they bringing space pigs back for? That was just a hoax by the Slitheen anyway!

OK, y'all...it's my understanding that in the 3rd episode the Face of Boe will appear & deliver his much-anticipated message to the Doctor. I'll let you know, I really really DON'T want to hear any part of this episode that has to do with the Face of Boe & his message! I've been anticipating this a LOOOOONG time! whee xd I think RTD may get his lungs ripped out by a whole bunch of fans if this doesn't involve telling the Doctor there are other Time Lords still alive. 3nodding

The Face of Boe made his 1st appearance in the 2nd episode of the 1st series, the one where the Doctor takes Rose like 5 million years in the future to watch the end of the Earth. The Face of Boe is one of the spectators. Then he appears again in the 1st episode of the 2nd series, "New Earth", as a patient in the Cat-Nuns' hospital. He is said to be dying, & a nice little Cat-Nun tells about how he is so incredibly ancient, like millions of years old. At the end of the episode he turns out not to be dying at all however, & disappears. I think he was supposed to give the Doctor a message, but simply told him he would deliver the message on their third meeting. The Face of Boe is so enigmatic & cool he way impresses even the Doctor. Fandom has been speculating heavily on what the Face of Boe's message would be ever since. It was supposed to be four words long, and the biggest, most popular speculation of all has been that the 4 words would be, "You are not alone". I'd like it to be that, but I'm sure RTD has set us all up to think this way & it's something different. Everyone is dying to see more Time Lords survive though, so as I said, a lot of fans will be hacked off if the message isn't about that.
