The day was too hot to even think about moving, but the dark haired woman in the stained red coat struggled forward regardless. Her tan shoulders strained under her burden, a heavy basket crudely woven from the long grass that grew so prolifically on this island. Booted feet sinking into soft sand, Katherine climbed the last dune that separated her from her destination.

The hut was dilapidated and bore the signs of long abandonment, not to mention it obviously wasn't the sturdiest of structures on the day it was built. Katherine dumped her basket of fruit just inside the rickety door, cursing as her ill used muscles protested their abuse.

As she shrugged off her sweat stained clothes and prepared for a quick dip in the ocean that girded her new home, the ex-captain tried not to notice how much childbirth had changed her body. To others she was still an attractive woman, if somewhat curvier, but the difference was obvious and unnerving to Katherine herself. Firmly pushing those thoughts and the memories they accompanied out of her head, Katherine sauntered, naked, out of her hut and towards the beach.

Isaac walked around the beach for a short while, "Ah, feels so good to be home," he looked around, a smile on his face, and almost a bounce in his step! He walked to the village, and looked around. It seemed that nothing had really changed while they were gone, though the huts were probably in need of a few repairs.

He walked to his hut, and entered through the battered door. He looked around and noticed a basket of fruits at his feet, "What is going on here... How did this basket of fruits end up in my hut?" he shook his head, then picked the basket up, the snakes that composed his beard began to hiss wildly. He placed the basket on a large crate.

He then noticed the clothing that was left on the floor, "Alright... This is definitely not right," he said to himself, picking the clothing up and taking a good look at it. "I know this clothing," he said, as he began to remember their battle against another pirate ship, one that was crewed by normal humans. The Island was as peaceful as usual, so he was certain that only a small handful of those humans were around. So he decided to wait for the one who was without clothes to return to the hut.

Katherine stretched luxuriantly, enjoying the blessedly cool seawater lapping against her hips. Trails of glistening Caribbean water caught the bright equatorial sunshine and dripped their way from her soaked hair down her body. The water coursed around her curves in rivulets, mimicking in miniature the way great rivers cut their way around vast mountains.

She paused to appreciate the fine view that the tiny cove afforded her, too small for anything but a row boat to find its way into, and thus perfectly private. Not that privacy was a concern, Katherine considered bitterly. She'd only been on the island a few weeks by her estimation, but since being marooned here by the irritatingly noble merchants who'd discovered she was a wanted criminal, the ex-pirate captain had yet to meet another living soul. Given that she hated most other living souls, this was only now beginning to be a problem.

Sighing, Katherine gave her waterlogged hair one last flick to wring out excess ocean, and made her way back to shore. Her bare skin instantly dropped in temperature as she left the water behind, but this was perfectly welcome in an environment that was usually hot enough to fry eggs on rocks left in the sun more than a few moments. She enjoyed the brush of stray foliage against her nude body as she wended her way throught the jungle that separated her hut from the beach.

Finally approaching the run down shack, Katherine was annoyed to spy the dirt had been disturbed around her door. The ground was too loose to hold prints very well, but by the size of the disturbance Katherine reckoned it was a large wild pig that had sniffed out her hoard of fresh food. Cursing at the trials of living on land, Katherine stormed into her hut, naked and radiating fury.

What greeted her was not quite a wild pig.

Isaac watched the unclothed woman burst into his hut, but he didn't expect it to be one of the humans from the ship that they had only recently decimated. He held the woman's clothes in his hand, and threw them to her. He then clenched his hand around the hilt of his sword.

He was certain that this woman and her allies had tried to follow them, but got lost in the fog. Somehow, their ship managed to crash on the island while the Cuore was waiting for the fog to thin out. They must have then started using the huts for shelter, and waited for the Cuore to crash just as they had. Even though this was quite unlikely, he began to yell at the woman as if it was the true reason for this woman to be there.

"What the hell are you doing on my Island?!" he yelled to her, he tried to verify his assumptions. He growled at the woman, "How many of your damn crew mates are on this island with you?" he began to draw his sword, the metal of the blade glistening off a beam of sunlight that leaked through a gap in the roof. He looked at the woman, as he awaited her answers.

Katherine, paralyzed in her astonishment, failed to react to the bundle of clothing thrown at her, and was subsequently hit full in the face with yards of reeking cotton. This sufficed to break her out of her stunned stupor and dart her hand inside the door. The snake beared apparition was apparently too daft to draw his sword entirely, so Katherine had just enough time to grab her own well used blade and hold it ready.

Feeling slightly more in control of the situation with a weapon in hand, despite her lack of clothes, Katherine eyed up the intruder carefully. Taking full note of the ornate coat, captain's hat and writhing snake beard, she deduced that her opponent was obviously a demon. Ignoring his questions as devilish lies, Katherine held her sword threateningly and tried to look holy.

"Back! Back foul demon! Begone into the hole you crawled out of, hellspawn!"

Isaac shook his head at the idiot of a woman, "You draw your blade against me?" he laughed, "are you a daft twit or something?!" He took his hand from his blade, and it slid back down into it's hilt. He shook his head once more, "Put on your clothes, you look like some French harlot!" he yelled as he sat down on his chair.

"Oh yes, and if you must know, I am not any damned hellspawn!" he sighed, "I was as human as you many of suns ago..." he growled as he spoke, the searing memories of life before the curse was infuriating him, but he tried to look calm, as a Captain should.

French harlot? Katherine wasn't sure if she should be offended or flattered. She'd heard good things about the French ladies of negotiable affection. She elected to ignore this comment and focus on the situation at hand. Normally she wouldn't fall for such an obvious ruse, but as the demon seemed to be unarmed and at ease, she took a chance and reached for her coat with one hand.

Struggling with the difficult process of dressing one handed while still keeping her sword in a relatively ready stance, Katherine eyed the demon suspiciously. Who knew what strange magicks the demon had at his disposal... he could easily call on his hell powers to curse her at a moments notice. With her coat mostly on, she reached for the crucifix around her neck and snapped it off its chain, the better to wield it against the demon.

"Human? I'm not foolish enough to believe your lies, son of satan. Get ye gone from this dwelling before I cut the sinful limbs from your accursed body!"

Isaac shook his head some more, this woman was quite stupid... He picked a rolled up sheet of parchment, tied with a weak string, off the table and threw it at the woman. "If this doesn't prove to you that I am... Or was human..." he paused, "then I will have to kill you here and now..."

The paper that he had thrown at the woman was an old portrait of himself, possibly around 2 years before the curse had been laid onto his ship. Not much had really changed about his appearance from the portrait, other than the thick black beard that he had then was now comprised of the wretched green snakes.

Katherine cast a wary eye over the painting. She was familiar with the portrait, as she'd discovered it on her first day of squatting in the hut, and had since been using the back of it as a rudimentary calendar. She'd often admired the handsome man in the painting, dreaming about his mysterious eyes on the solitary island nights, so it wasn't hard for her to recognize the man before her as the very same.

As Katherine examined his worn, but still strong features, she was a bit embarrassed that she hadn't picked up on it earlier. "Alright," she allowed, "you may be the man in the picture, but that doesn't make you any less of a demon. You probably sold your soul for a fair wind, or some such nonsense. I don't traffic with demons, especially not in my own home."

She kept the sword raised all the while, crucifix still clenched tightly in her white knuckled fist. Katherine wouldn't admit, even to herself, how much the sight of the demon-man rattled her. Not only did it draw out all her long buried superstition and religious fears, but the sight of another person, however demonic, was a shock after so many weeks alone.

Isaac laughed for a moment, "That may be true, I could be considered a demon, but I didn't sell my soul for a damn thing," he laughed once more, "and you call this your home?" he shook his head while laughing, "This is my home, but that isn't the matter at hand." he stood back up and placed his blade on the chair before walking five steps away.

"Do you think that crucifix will harm me?" he asked the woman before producing a similar crucifix from inside his jacket, "Well, if it would harm me, would not this holy trinket in my coat have been making me burn into cinders, or something of that sort?" he laughed once more, "Now, why don't you put your weapon down, and we can talk like civilized people, unless you figure yourself to be some sort of a brute..."

Astrid re-appeared just outside the cursed village, she scanned the surroundings, and noticed that one hut just seemed to yell out to her, that the Captain of the Cuore Scuro was inside. She grinned, "Got you, my... Cursed friend..." she chuckled for a moment, then vanished once again.

She wasn't gone for long, as she appeared right in front of the Cursed Captain, and his... Guest. She looked at both of them, then turned to look at the Cursed one. "So, you are the Captain of the Cuore Scuro, are you not?" she asked the man, her voice, somewhat slithering within the realms of evil and ill intent.

Isaac growled at the second intruder. He began to wonder to himself, 'why the hell am I always getting bombarded with this crap!' He shook his head slightly then the snakes began to hiss wildly. His eyes grew large for a short moment, as he knew why the snakes were going crazy. The scent... It was faint, but it was certainly a scent from the ship of the other annoying intruder.

He then kept his attention on the new intruder, "What the hell do you want, can you not see I am in the middle of something?!" he yelled at the foolish thing. He then spoke again, "And yes, I am the Captain of the feared ship, known as the Cuore Scuro!" his voice boomed with pride, and obvious anger.

"I am dearly sorry for interrupting you, Captain," said Astrid, the slight grin on her face turned into a small scowl. She looked back to the other woman that was in the hut, and wondering to why the woman was horribly dressed, and brandishing a sword. It was not any of her business though, so she wasn't going to bother asking.

"I actually have a proposition for you, Captain of the Cuore Scuro," she softly hissed to the man, "might you be interested in obtaining riches beyond your wildest dreams, and the opportunity to kill many of your enemies?" Astrid grinned once again, as she knew the proposition was just too good for the man to say no to.

Isaac laughed at the second intruder, "You dare to try tempting the great Isaac Teneck, Scourge of the Seven Seas?!" his voice boomed, and was likely heard all over the island. He continued to laugh, as he looked back to his original... Problem. He grumbled once again then yelled to the naked woman, "Put your damn clothes on properly! And put that blunt blade away, you look like an idiot!"

He then turned his attention back to his newer problem. The offer was quite tempting, but Isaac would never admit to it. He shook his head at the woman then began to speak, "I don't think so, if you even dare try to truly tempt me, you need to offer far more than riches and murder," he grinned at the woman, "now, are you going to try?" he asked, as his smug look gave away his intentions.

Astrid smiled, this Captain was a very worthy man. He was obviously trying to get more out of her, even though he was more than likely willing to accept the first offer if she didn't offer any more. She looked back to the other woman, then back to the Captain, "I guess I can offer you something special," she said with a slight hiss in her voice. She made a small leather pouch appear in her left hand, then grinned widely.

Astrid opened the pouch, and showed Isaac a small portion of the stunning sapphires. "I will offer you this," she said softly, "a pouch that contains many beautiful oceanic sapphires," her eyes flashed slightly, then the returned the gems to their pouch. "These gems are extremely rare, I am sure you can fetch a very high price for them," she paused for a moment, "so, do we have a deal?"
