I totally forgot that I own Castle in the Sky (When we were all mentioning Miyazaki). It's great, very cute. And Mark Hamill gets to play a bad guy, which is awesome. (If you actually are asking who he is, then I need to slap you. You should know who he is. *Ahem*).

I love Laputa: Castle in the Sky, for the wonderful roboty things. I don't think it does them justice to call them robots, but I don't know what else to say, and mecha just makes me think of mobile suits of armor.

Last Exile (what I've watched of it) is pretty darn good.

Haven't seen Last Exhile yet. But everyone I know has given it rave reviews.

I own Luputa: Castle In The Sky. It is a very good movie. I think the propeller-driven planes with parts from Jules Verne, Rube Goldberg and comic artist Ron Cobb are very delightful, and Laputa itself is a wondrous planet, an Atlantis-in-the-air where technology and ecology have fallen out of balance. Even the robots and levitating cubes have a moral duality. The film is so full of color and life, it's always just across the borderline of imagination, its acute details softened by clouds and shadows, its principles revealed by actions more than words. It's full of "Star Wars"-style confrontation, but it's also nice to see it handled on equal terms by male and female protagonists. All in all, it's a film both children and adult can enjoy.

eek For that price you should just buy it. Lol. It's worth it. It's one you can watch over and over again.

Ergo Proxy? I don't believe I've heard of it. Is it a newer anime? What's it about?

Ergo Proxy does sound good. I talked to a buddy of mine that works at Anime Express and he said it was a lot like Ghost In The Shell, which is a favorite of mine. I'll have to see if it's available on Netflicks.

Bizenghast looks like something I might read. I'll have to take a gander at it next time I'm at Borders.

Earth Woven isn't much into Manga and Anime. (Gasp, can you believe it?) All of her friends are, but she is never much like everyone else.
However, she does adore the dream-like quality of Miyazaki and studio Ghibli,

I randomly selected Gilgamesh off the rental rack at Hastings, it is now one of my favs. The artwork is a bit different from most anime, it has great mystery to it, and it has one heck of a cliffhanger til season 2.
the tomb of Gilgamesh is found out in the desert of, i believe it was Mesopatamia, of course, it is capitilized upon by the world and a great lab is built upon it, which is ineptly named Heaven's Gate, and many experiments are conducted. ......just in case,,,,something goes wrong,,,,,,oh, no, never!!!,,,,,genetic samples of all local scientists are kept "secure"............finally it is decided that Heaven's Gate must be closed down, but at the last moment a terrorist strikes, and the entire planet is covered by a mysterious cloudcover, which disables all computer usage and such.
Gilgamesh, as well as Enkido, are not one individual but several united, they all have supernatural abilities which make for spectacular fighting scenes.
This is a really good anime, you really have to watch it................

.........neither was i, until Nienna rented Naruto, which i only watched cuz of SPIKE PYRO.....luvs ya, Spike.........
now, i am driving poor Nienna crazy,(well, not really, she was already crazy) everytime we go to Hastings, she has to drag me away from the anime section. i have become quite addicted to the whole thing. but, i do have a problem with the Manga, it is hard enough to try reading books BACKWARDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, but the silly things have no color. what's up with that, anyway?? Must. Have. Color.

Rurouni Kenshin is one of my favorites. And one called Demon Diary. It's a little on the slash side, but it's so funny. And Biowulf looks pretty good, too. I've only read a few though.
