"Have I?" said Kyou, already feeling the heat rise to his cheeks as a deep blush coloured his skin. It was true that he would never have done something like that a few months ago, but he didn't exactly feel bold, at least not in the sense that he had imagined. "Thank you." he smiled gently and looked at the floor, then looked up again as he didn't want to shatter his new, "bold" persona. "I don't know how you got invite, Hyde. But I'm so glad you're here."

"Chai managed to sort something out" Hyde shrugged, though that statement did stab at him a bit, he felt a little upset that he would not have been attending Kyou's ball if told not to look over him. Well it wasn't surprising, he didn't belong to a particular house.
He cocked an eyebrow at the blush and smiled, patting Kyou on the head.
"yes quite bold, we'll make a socialite of you yet!"

Charming nodded thoughtfully as Kyou spoke and managed a deep frown as he hurriedly excused himself. Charming took something shiny out of his pocket as he went over to lean on the French windows; the prince checked his appearance in the small mirror he had taken from his pocket and frowned even more deeply before managing a bright smile and then frowning again. Gosh, he wasn't that scary, was he? Meh. Of course he wasn't. Charming slipped the mirror back into his pocket and peered around the ballroom at the lush, bright colors and brilliant masks. The prince took his own lovely mask and put it to his face to peer out of it. The mask did nothing to conceal his identity of course; it just shielded his facial expressions from all of those around him and right now his face was contorted into a ridiculous pout underneath the mask. The most Charming could really do at the most was sit around and look pretty, his social ego was down and that meant he was not in a good mood.

Kyou giggled as his blush deepened. "Well, I wouldn't go that far." he laughed, but quickly stopped as his eyes filled with worry. "Oh no. I ran away from the Prince, I can't believe I was so rude. I totally ditched him!" he cried, letting the slang from the Aboveworld drift into his words.

Hyde smiled, noting how Kyou was getting more open, he liked this Kyou a lot. He shook his head and patted him on the shoulder.
"go to your guest, i'd better be leaving" Hyde said softly, absnetly turning and donning his mask. He didn't want to intrude further.

Kyou blinked, he was leaving? Just like that? He bit his lower lip anxiously, he may have been growing in confidence, but he would certainly rather have a familiar face with him, than be alone at this dark party.
"Must you go already? But you only just got here." he said, sounding a lot more upset than he intended.

HYde froze and turned around to look at Kyou, in truth he had managed to sneak in by nicely charming a lady outside and he didn't want any repercussions for his actions to fall on Kyou.
Though his tone stilled something and he didn't want to leave.
"I can stay a while longer, as long as I don't tear you from your guests" he said simply, in a light tone and his smiled. At least he knew Kyou wasn't afraid of him now. The elf tied his mask in place, as he didn't fancy showing his actual face to everyone. 'Moon' was just a name Macy had given him when Hyde said he now had no second name.

Kyou smiled with relief. Hyde was always so nice to him, he didn't deserve it.
"It's ok, I don't really know anyone here." he replied, glancing nervously around the room, luckily his father was on the other side of the hall talking to some Fae lords he didn't recognise. "It's really my father's party, all I needed to do was show up."

"well that's where talking helps" Hyde answered, lightly tapping Kyou on the forehead with one of his fingers. A smile on his face as he looked at Kyou. He followed Kyou's gaze until it fell on a man who he believed was Kyou's father.
"well, treasure what you've got" he added rather offishly, not really pointed towards anything but meaning a lot. He didn't want Kyou to suffer as he had.

Kyou nodded, his expression turning serious once again. "I know...but...I'd rather talk to you." he blushed again. He must have sounded like a complete idiot. He glanced over to his father once again, if he heard him talking like this he would probably send him away again, and Kyou certainly didn't want that to happen. His new job was only thing he had ever really enjoyed doing and while his co-workers were eccentric to say the least, he wouldn't leave them for the world.

Hyde couldn't help the rather pleased grin spread across his lips, he chuckled a little and poked Kyou's cheek.
"me aswell but you make new friends by talking to new people" he added softly, his gaze flicking to Kyou's father again. He was rather glad the man was occupied as Kyou seemed to tense whenever he saw him. Hyde had no family, so he didn't understand the concept of mother and father. Like Macy, who barely knew what it meant.

Kyou made an irritated little noise at being poked, but smiled all the same. He was glad Hyde felt the same way, as he truly did like the young elf, even though he did not know much about him.
"Well, I guess you've seen my disfunctional home, now." he joked with a quiet chuckle "I wonder what yours is like?"

Hyde went ilent for a minute, hsie xpression unreadable due to the mask as he kept his gaze away from Kyou, a few moments later he took Kyou's hand and led him out of the ballroom, he felt his family life was not to be discussed in a place of laughter and eavesdroppers. He found a quiet room and led Kyou inside, shutting the door.
"sorry, I just don't want anyone else to hear it...I don't have a family...well a family I know about just now, I was sold" Hyde said softly, removing his mask and leaning against the door, his face neutral and his voice steady. He ran a hand through his hair and let out a breath.
"I was born a twin, and in my clan twins are viewed with slight fear, one is good and the other evil...I was chosen as the evil one...I was kept around until I was five, as a sort of servant.." Hyde's tone dropped slightly and his head bowed "...but I was abused alot, I got upset and withdrew and then...one day I was sold to a traveller, he taught me my healing skills and he gave me this" he tapped the tear drop tattoo lightly with his left index finger "...he died and I was taken into Jareth's court when I was seven and I became Macy's playmate, continuing my healing studies aswell"

Kyou stared at him in disbelief. How could such cruelty still exist, and within Hyde's own family.
"Hyde, I'm...I'm so sorry, I had no idea." he said shakily. In his land, twins were seen as a blessing not a curse. Had Hyde been born a few hundred miles east, he would have been a high priest by now. "How could they even think you were evil, were they blind?"

Hyde smiled smally and closed his eyes, he liked the fact that Kyou knew, Macy knew and Jareth knew from when he had asked about it and Hyde had obliged in telling him out of a sense of owing. He wasn't that upset about it, but the abuse had left an irreversible scar on the Elf's soul.
He sighed and tilted his head up, his hands placed over his eyes.
"my eyes, they're unusual and my brothers were normal, so he was considered the good and me the evil, because of a little defect" he answered quietly.
