Maria looked at everyone that surrounded her and began to take note on physical features. “Crow seems to be a shape shifter. Her hooves and wings seem pretty awesome to have,” thought Maria to herself not wanting to forget anyone that was standing around her. “And Len has tentacles on his face and is looking a bit green.”
“Hello, Crow. Len. It’s nice to meet the two of you. I’m Maria, but please call me MJ,” said MJ as she introduced herself properly to the new Godlings. “So we are going to your house Writ, fine with me. I really don’t want to head home yet.”
Aren’t there a lot of you little munchkins now said the lady again. Do me favor and try to figure out who their Gods are. That would be great.
“Yeah whatever. Wait a second,” thought MJ in reply to the woman. “Then answer me one question.”
I know what you are going to ask, and no. This is not the time. You still have a few things to learn before I answer that, spoke the woman.
“Fine, but that’s not really fair. You find everything out, and I’m still lost with who you really are,” continued Maria as she gave up on the one sided argument.
Maria knew if she could see the God right now, the lady would be smirking at here with a slight laugh that was trying to escape.

"I think it'll be alright, my mom and dad are expecting me home anyway." Writ said simply, not realizing what his parents were going to think if he brought this little band of friends home. Seriously, Writ's had his share of unusual friends, but this was ridiculous.
"So Len, you're part of the game too?" He asked, walking backwards for a moment to face Mr. tentacle dude.

Crow followed behind Writ by a few paces. She wished she could go home to her parents too... She could, they loved her, but the neighbors sure didn't...
She suddenly decided to shove such thoughts to the back of her mind. "Maria, Fish, Len... Maria, Fish, Len..." She muttered under her breath, each time with her hand down at her side, pointing to each one with her long black nails. They resembled talons more than nails, really.

"Oh! Hello..." Len said shyly, not used to the attention. "Yes...I am a player, I guess." He followed the group as they walked down the street. Friends...they were accepting him. He beamed.
Don't forget, the eternal voice in his mind whispered. Enemies and friends...they are one and the same now, Lennon.
Len frowned as he walked. "I just started a few days ago...when did you start?"

Fish shrugged. "Couple of weeks? Couple of months? From the start," he said, smiling at the tentacled boy. He seemed out of place, even more than Maria. His clothes betrayed him as a Rich, but they'd seen a few days wear. And he seemed as though he was unfamiliar with the ways of the Crowd.
"I've had these all my life," he added, flaring his gills.

Crow had been continuing on like a broken record for some moments before her sensitive ears caught Len's query, only to process it minutes later.
"A month." She stated flatly as she continued clomping along. "Been a little mutant freak since I was eight."

"Yeah, same here. Whenever this Game began, months ago," said MJ as she looked around at everyone and understood what it was really like to have "friends" that understand who you were somewhat.
Remember these people want always be your friends reminded the lady as MJ was walking. Some will mostly wind up becoming your enemy.
"Yeah I know. Keep your friends closer, but your enemies closer," MJ thought inacordance to the lady's words.
MJ slowed her pace and fell behind Writ to talk to Crow for a second, "I'm really thrilled to make your acquaintance Crow, for a while there I thought there weren't any other girl," said MJ as she was slightly relieved.

Crow glanced over at Maria and smiled lightly. "Oh? Well, yeah, I guess." She muttered. What was so important about there being any other girls? Then again, Crow noted to herself, Maria probably wasn't raised with three brothers. "Nice to meet you too, Maria."
Act like a girl. Act like a girl. Crow told herself. She then realized it was probably futile, because she really didn't remember how girls acted aside from little sissies who whine a lot and talk about being princesses. Ick.
"There's probably other girls, they just haven't...er...joined yet. I guess? I heard the Game is pretty damn dangerous--" She stopped. Girls don't curse, she reminded herself. "Uhm... Yeah, it's dangerous, so, most girls wouldn't...er...want to join, right?"

And Writ just kept walking, swinging his arms out in front of him. The pace slowed, because the streets were relatively clear for the most part, though Crow was sticking out like a sore thumb, and Len, though not as blatantly obvious, was getting a few stares as well. Writ was grateful that his God didn't manifest itself as... Big.
Just wait... Coyote thought to himself, The time will come.
So these are all of the players. The God looked through Writ's eyes. No, not all. There were probably one or two stragglers in the works. Pity the kid seemed to like all of them, it was going to be very hard to comfort Writ if he's forced to kill one of his friends, and he was going to have a lot of them in this game he bet.
"Oooh, you said a bad word." Writ said, talking to Crow.

The children might not have noticed, but a tall, well muscled man in a crisp black suit and sunglasses had been following them at a distance for some time and had been edging closer and listening to their conversation.
He followed them a few blocks, matching their pace exactly, always a few feet behind, gathering information. The Game, The Game, The Game, he thought. So these children played The Game? Was it changing their DNA?

Walking backwards... Walking back... Who was that? Writ stopped for a second, with a confused look on his face. Something didn't feel right.
His ears twitched nervously.

“Yeah, you probably have point about that. Most girls probably would have never given it a second thought if it involved danger. Pansies like them would probably just run odd with a tail between their legs,” said MJ as Crow mentioned that idea. “I’m glad to see though that you aren’t a pansy, and please stop trying to act more like a girl. I know you’re trying to, but it’s not working. I have a sister like that and it drives my brother, step-sister and me up the wall.”
Suddenly MJ sensed an extra someone wandering behind them. At first she couldn’t really tell who it was, but then it started to give off a god awful sense of destructive curiosity. Her suspicions were made clear when Writ had turned around, and his ears went up and twitched in an odd manner. “A Blacksuit, I knew it,” thought Maria as she made eye contact with the stopped Writ.
“Writ, keep moving and keep an eye on him, but don’t make it look obvious like you know he is there. Crow can you let Len and Fish know if they haven’t already figured it out. This way we are all aware and I can have a slight chance at figuring something out,” said MJ softly, as she began to figure out a quick plan.

"Will do." Crow obeyed, and her pace easily picked up. Not to make it seem obvious, she simply just elongated her stride. A moment later she caught up to Fish and Len.
"Damn Blacksuit behind us, I think. MJ told me to tell you two." She said in a hushed voice as she glanced back quickly to confirm, but honestly she didn't spot what MJ was talking about. "Sorry, I hope it wasn't because of me..." She squeaked, tugging on her right wing uncomfortably. "DamnwingiesIoughtacutyabothoff!"
It was probably illegible to anyone else as to what the hell she said.

"Wait, Black-whatnows?"
Like Len, Writ was a newbie too, it's only been a week or so since he started, no one knew that of course, but it was obvious by the confused tone in his voice.
He was also not so keen on following orders, and kept where he stopped.
What was there to be afraid of? It was a guy in a suit, there's plenty of commuters that go through the cafe for their first brew on the way to Uppers, and last time he checked, the sidewalks were free for everyone. So what's the big deal about someone being behind them?

Len had been hanging to the side for most of the conversation, silently listening and generally feeling awkward. He always felt this way around new people. It was really something he was used to feeling like a fifth wheel and all even when he really wasn't.
When Crow came up to him and Fish, out of breath and cursing, he laughed to himself. The man in the suit looked like his father--most of the men in Upper wear suits to work. Despite the uneasy feeling in his stomach, he felt bad for these poor lower level children.
"A Blacksuit?" he said a little dismissively. "Is that what you all call them? He's just some businessman from Upper. Don't worry, I saw them all the time when I was up there."
He was feeling a lot more confident now, despite the fact that he didn't want to be seen by anybody from Upper (lest they know his parents). Poor Lower kids, he thought.
