Some of my fave song lyrics are already listed, so I'll just stick in a fave line or two although the entire song is poetry. wish you were here, fave line- trade a walk on part in the war, for a lead role in a cage. nobody home, fave line-Got thirteen channels of s**t on the T.V. to choose from Bike, fave line- I don't know why I call him Gerald have a cigar hasn't been posted so here are the lyrics: Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar. You're gonna go far, fly high, You're never gonna die, You're gonna make it if you try; They're gonna love you. Well I've always had a deep respect, And I mean that most sincerely. The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, which one's Pink? And did we tell you the name of the game, boy, We call it Riding the Gravy Train.
We're just knocked out. We heard about the sell out. You gotta get an album out. You owe it to the people. We're so happy we can hardly count. Everybody else is just green, Have you seen the chart? It's a helluva start, It could be made into a monster If we all pull together as a team. And did we tell you the name of the game, boy, We call it Riding the Gravy Train.
Now I gotta ask everyone, what do you think "Have a cigar" is about? I ask every pink floyd fan I come across, some know it but a lot don't

Dogs
You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need. You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street, You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed. And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight, You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.
And after a while, you can work on points for style. Like the club tie, and the firm handshake, A certain look in the eye and an easy smile. You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to, So that when they turn their backs on you, You'll get the chance to put the knife in.
You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder. You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older. And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south, Hide your head in the sand, Just another sad old man, All alone and dying of cancer.
And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown. And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone. And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around. So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone, Dragged down by the stone.
I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused. Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used. Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise. If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?
Deaf, dumb, and blind, you just keep on pretending That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend. And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner And everything's done under the sun, And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.
Who was born in a house full of pain. Who was trained not to spit in the fan. Who was told what to do by the man. Who was broken by trained personnel. Who was fitted with collar and chain. Who was given a pat on the back. Who was breaking away from the pack. Who was only a stranger at home. Who was ground down in the end. Who was found dead on the phone. Who was dragged down by the stone.
See-saw
Marigolds are very much in love, but he doesn't mind Picking up his sister, he makes his way into the seas or land All the way she smiles She goes up while he goes down, down Sits on a stick in the river Laughter in his sleep Sister's throwing stones, hoping for a hit He doesn't know so then She goes up while he goes down, down Another time, another day A brother's way to leave Another time, another day
She'll be selling plastic flowers on a Sunday afternoon
Picking up weeds, she hasn't got the time to care All can see he's not there She grows up for another man, and he's down Another time, another day A brother's way to leave Another time, another day Another time, another day A brother's way to leave
Wots...uh the deal
Heaven sent the promised land Looks alright from where I stand Cause I'm the man on the outside looking in
Waiting on the first step Show where the key is kept Point me down the right line because it's time
To let me in from the cold Turn my lead into gold Cause there's chill wind blowing in my soul And I think I'm growing old
Flash the readies Wot's...uh the deal? Got to make to the next meal Try to keep up with the turning of the wheel.
Mile after mile Stone after stone Turn to speak but you're alone Million mile from home you're on your own
So let me in from the cold Turn my lead into gold Cause there's chill wind blowing in my soul And I think I'm growing old
Fire bright by candlelight And her by my side And if she prefers we will never stir again
Someone said the promised land And I grabbed it with both hands Now I'm the man on the inside looking out
Hear me shout "Come on in, What's the news and where you been?" Cause there's no wind left in my soul And I've grown old

"I've been mad for ******** years, absolutely years, been over the edge for yonks, been working me buns off for bands..." "I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad..."

"Brain Damage" You raise the blade, You make the change, You re-arrange me til' I'm sane. You lock the door, And throw away the key. There's someone in my head, But it's not me.
"Astronomy Domine" Lime and limpid green The sound surrounds the icy waters under Lime and limpid green The sound surrounds the icy water Underground
More to come later.

Good thread..
I'd have to go with:
"Wish You Were Here"
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground, what have we found? the same old fears... wish you were here.
"Time"
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
"Eclipse"
All that you touch And all that you see All that you taste All you feel And all that you love And all that you hate All you distrust All you save And all that you give And all that you deal And all that you buy, beg, borrow or steal And all you create And all you destroy And all that you do, And all that you say And all that you eat, And everyone you meet, And all that you slight And everyone you fight And all that is now, And all that is gone And all that's to come And everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon

Hmmmm possibly "Mother do you think they'll drop the bomb" Just because its from one of th' forgotten songs on The Wall. Most people forget it's even a song. [Same with Breathe on Dark Side Of The Moon] Or Perhaps "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year" From Wish You were here
Or..I could go on forever "Hey you, out there on your own sitting naked by the phone.." -Hey you
Or My FAVORITE:
"Emily tries but misunderstands, ah ooh She often inclined to borrow somebody's dreams till tomorrow There is no other day Let's try it another way You'll lose your mind and play Free games for may See Emily play"
If you don't know th' name of that song, I'll hurt you.
