Archiving RP from the shop...
PostPosted: Sat Jan 01, 2011 5:19 pm

I think there were one or two minor RPs before the current one so I am reserving posts for that. First Page will not have RP on it, but is reserved "just in case."

Humor me already.

RP archive setting: The Medusa Shop, interior

The Players: character, color and image link / owner and journal link
Aderlass / Dooma
Kolya / Melomar
Thanatos / Rhiannon Everwind

He simply had to get out of that house, everyone was pushing his buttons, wearing on his last nerve. Any one wrong move or word by anyone and he would have snapped, and he did not want to snap. It was not a pretty sight when he did, and thankfully, he did not lose his temper often. But some of those that he roomed with were simply intolerable lately, and he found himself drawn to escape the walls of his home more and more.

Thanatos really had no idea why coming to the shop - his shop, in a sense, as it was with all medusa - had surfaced in his mind; perhaps because he had not been back here since leaving with the demoness, Rhiannon. The thought of the beautiful, exotic woman coaxed a small, saddened twinge to life within his chest, but he quickly snuffed it out. He was certainly not Mejis, and while he did think it a shame what had happened, he would not wallow in misery for the rest of his life.

Silently gliding up to the door, he opened it and slid inside, the hollow sockets of his eyes being half-obscured by his lank, soot-hued bangs as he "surveyed" the shop he had once called his home, but now he found himself feeling a bit like an outsider.

Kolya slipped inside the shop several minutes after Thanatos had. He had visited several times in the past year, and as crotchety as Thomas was, he did like to help keep things tidy while remaining out of his way. It was the least he could do, and the shop had fallen into a state of near-abandonment that he did not fancy at all.

Today was different however. A smile crept across his features as he glanced about and found several others doing various things. Some he did not recognize, though that was to be expected as he had only been transported here and sold recently compared to the majority of others. His curiosity brought him further inside, where he found an unclaimed couch to curl up on.

Within one of the living rooms of the shop, stretched out and curled around the legs and arms of a dusty red suede couch a muted grey and red, and dull indigo medusa lay. It was almost as if he lived in the shop he was there so much. His pale indigo jacket covered his upper body hiding his shallow sleeping breaths.

Aderlass had not cleaned 'his' area of the shop recently and thus by sleeping on the couch he had a thin layer of dust almost looking as if he were a medusa that did not make it out of the shop and had died on the soft couch.

Kolya noticed two things in particular with his wandering eye. One was the trail he left in the thin layer of dust on the floor. The other was a familiar shape, the body of one whom he had met during his previous visit to the shop. He was torn whether to start cleaning, or to approach the other? In the end he found a broom for himself and made his way over, scarred teal-colored scales scraping lightly across the floor. He leaned lightly on the broom when he came to rest before the other medusa to investigate. "Aderlass?" There was a thin covering of dust him, but there was the nearly imperceptive rise and fall of his ribs. Smiling faintly, he decided to let the other simply rest. Perhaps he would awaken to a cleaner, tidier shop...

Hearing the sound sound from the lips of one he knew Aderlass stired. His tail slowly moved to wrap around the end of the others. "I must be hearing things again..." he said softly as he looked to the teal colored male. "Kolya?" He sat up slowly the dust falls gently from him and he looked over the male he had met , maybe not for a long time but at least once.

He looked around the shop at the dust that had collected. "I guess it has been a while huh?" He saw the broom in the other's hand and nods, "Would you like some help with your work...you have quite alot to do." His tail as he talked had started to wrap more another the other. Oh how he longed to feel another so close to him again, any one would do really. But as he finished talking his tail unwrapped from the other and he slid from his couch.

"Yes, it's me," Kolya replied quietly, gently returning the other's gesture. He had been about to protest, either to allow him to sleep or at least to take his time. How long had Aderlass been asleep? It would be difficult to do much of anything this soon. However, Aderlass was already moving to rise, taking note of the shop's current state. He smiled, inclining his head to the other. "I would appreciate the help and the company."

Aderlass nods and slips out of his hooded jacket moving over to a closet to pull on a white apron. "I would be glad to give you company....so what would you like to start with? I think dusting and polishing wail I wash my clothes and then we should start with the floor?" He smiles and offers the teal medusa a apron as well.

Kolya set the broom aside as Aderlass spoke. He nodded and took the apron that was offered to him by the brown-and-purple medusa. Dusting first was a good idea; that way the dust could settle to the floor and they would not have to sweep it up a second time. As he finished tying the apron, he said, "That's a good idea. I'll start dusting while you get your clothes washed." That said, he went off to find dusters, polish and rags.

Out of place, indeed. Thanatos was slowly beginning to realize that perhaps coming back to the shop after such an absence really was a bad idea. It seemed the few Medusa present were acquaintances, if not friends, and he the outsider for the moment. Easily rectified, of course, but the realization of how long he had actually been gone was enough to make him a little uncomfortable. A feeling quite alien to him and one he did not care for. One he hopefully never became accustomed to.

Perhaps he should have dragged Mejis out on the excursion, but he supposed it was too late for that now. A pity, it probably would have done the younger Medusa good to get out of the house for a day, meet up with others of his own kind; Thanatos did realize that he and Kratos were not exactly the ideal candidates when it came to socializing with others. Perhaps that was another reason Mejis seemed so intent on grieving for so long of a time; he really didn't have anyone to comfort him.

Momentarily forgetting his surroundings, the tip of Thanatos's tail flicked in the air, its bulk snaking over and around itself, as he settled lower to the ground in a brief and uncustomary bout of guilt at leaving the other, more outspoken Medusa back at their home. Long, slender fingers traced over the skeletal markings that adorned his ribcage, the tattered ends of his hooded cloak flirting with the back of his hand.

Aderlass smiles and nods watching Kolya put the apron on and slither off. He sighs moving towards the front of the shop so that he could get to the laundry room that Mitsume had shown him one.

A smile crossed his lips as he remember one of the few times he had been out of his hood, when two medusas had been determined to give him a bath. He shook his head so lost in thought that he almost pasted by the pale ghostly male. He turned looking at the unfamiliar male. He gave a gentle smile. "Hello sir." he said in a soft low voice.

One thing that could be said about Thomas was that he was organized. If one knew where the broom was, he would also find the other cleaning supplies. Needless to say, it took Kolya very little time to return. He set everything on a table where Aderlass would have no trouble finding them. He slipped a rag inside a pocket of his apron before picking up a duster and spray, then hearing what he thought were voices went off to investigate.

"I left everything on the table, when you're ready to use it." He found Aderlass and another male. It was not surprising that he did not recognize Thanatos. He could probably count on one hand the number of medusa he had met at the shop. Curious, he flashed a smile at the newcomer. "Hello."

Lost in thought for a moment, or perhaps more like dark musings, Thanatos didn't realize he had acquired a small audience until the two other Medusa spoke. Blinking eyelids over empty sockets, their depths cast in shadow, he tilted his head just enough to recognize their presence, fingers continuing their languid movements over his patterned, brown-and-white skin.

"No need for the title of sir when speaking to me," His voice was scratchy and hollow, so soft in fact it wasn't really like a voice at all, more like the sigh of a gentle breeze. Or perhaps the quiet crackle of dead leaves on said breeze.

He offered no smile, however, he was not being impolite or antisocial. He had learned from a few previous experiences that his ashen face and the fact that he opted for no blindfold of any kind - which allowed for one to view the empty cavities where his eyes should be - gave him a slightly wicked look, one which most immediately recoiled from.

"Few things have changed since I was last here," He commented, voice ending on an involuntary sigh. Lifting his chin, the tatters of his hood nearly blended perfectly with his bangs as he "studied" the other two.

Aderlass was not one for shying from anyone. He just shrugged watching the other. He was defiantly odd. It was almost like death was standing at the door. He looking into the eye sockets and then bowed his head. His spiky hair hardly moving. "Well then I guess you know your way around." he said in his polite gentle but low voice.

He smiles at Kolya and then slides over towards the laundry room to wash his cloak. This was the most life he had seen coming to the shop in a wail. He laughed to himself. Though he was not fully sure if the new arrival was really alive. He then called out, "Then what shall I call you if it is not sir?"

What filled Kolya, rather than anything resembling revulsion, was curiosity. Beyond the strange, cadaver-like appearance (could any medusa be truly surprised by another's outward appearance?), the teal-colored male was transfixed by the other's genuinely vacant eye sockets. Could he see, if not optically, than another way? Had he honed his sense of touch for example, able to 'see' through the vibrations of the very air? He certainly seemed to be studying them as much as his company was of him.

Then, out of a nearly-forgotten sense of politeness, Kolya ceased to stare. Whether it was from behind his blindfold or not, whether Thanatos could see him through any sense of the word or not, it did not matter to him.

He did wonder what Thanatos meant by his comment, which occupied him beyond his mild feeling of embarassment. Was he referring to the shop in general, its relative vacancy, or perhaps was he referring somehow to his present company?

He watched Aderlass break away to do what he had come to do. As he washed his cloak, Kolya turned his gaze back to Thanatos. "Perhaps if the honorific is not appropriate, a proper introduction would be?" He approached Thanatos slowly but with conviction, finally reaching out to the other. His left hand slid over the other's right, gently raising it so that he could take it into his own right. His grip lingered, a symbol of mutual trust. "I am called Kolya and I am pleased to meet you."

For the first time upon entering the shop, a ghost of a smile passed over Thanatos's lips; nothing more than a minute twitching at the corners of his mouth really, hardly noticeable and not exactly something anyone would be able to call a change in his expression, let alone pass off as a genuine smile of any degree.

"I have been called many things over the years, though most know me now as Thanatos," His voice was still deathly quiet, yet the grating whispers seemed to carry surprisingly far, having no trouble making their way to the Medusa that had momentarily parted company.

Shifting his attention to other, again, the light flutter of movement creased the pale skin around his lips for just a moment before falling still. No, he couldn't see in the conventional sense of the word; quite obviously, with no eyes in his head to do the job, one would think he was as blind as anyone who had come before him. But the other Medusa's train of thought was running along the right track, the large, grey-haired male could indeed "see" things around him, wind, breathing, heartbeats, all movement made it possible, no matter how slight. But Thanatos never really care to explain it to anyone, even those who inquired.

The handshake he saw coming, yet he found the other's premeditated actions to keep the touch from being a surprise slightly endearing. A warm gesture he was highly unused to, and for a moment it made him wonder just how old these Medusa before him really were. So trusting, almost like children.

He clasped the other's hand briefly, no motion in the act, a simple tightening of his grip for only a few seconds before letting go. However, the short handshake was still long enough to no doubt leave the other Medusa's hand with a dull throb deep within the bones; Thanatos's skin almost colder than ice, the quick touch immediately seeming to sap the warmth right from Koyla's hand and even partway up his forearm. Unfortunate, as Thanatos felt a small fondness stir to life within his breast for this new Medusa, but was able to pass it off with the simple notion that these were the first of his kind that he had seen in many years, not counting Mejis.

"The pleasure is mine, Koyla."

Aderlass let the names flow threw his mind. They were rather interesting and the sound of bones and dead leaves were interesting tone. This dusty death like medusa was rather interesting and though, like other medusas did not use his eyes to see, could tell that there was a interesting little spark between the two 'strangers'.

He shrugged and raised his voice softly, "Would either of you like a bit to eat....I am sure if I can find any food in the kitchen I could make something." His dear friend had taught him out to cook a bit and he kept in mind not to listen to Vicktor's cooking advice. Besides he didn't have any bathing partners there was nothing else he could do right now but try to be a good host for the shop in the place of the missing shop hosts.

Kolya frowned as he pulled his hand back. It was all he could do not to jerk it away, the deep chill he now felt in his arm was so strong, as if the bones had been turned to weathered metal. He rubbed at the skin of his forearm, feeling the warmth slowly return. So cold...

He glanced up again to watch Aderlass. "We were going to clean, but a meal first may be a good idea. Perhaps something warm..?" The suggestion might seem transparent to Thanatos especially, he realized, but it was not for his own benefit. He was actually thinking of the other medusa. Perhaps a hot meal would warm him up. He flexed his hand; it was feeling better. "I could assist you if you like."

An idea occurred to the youth. Something he remembered, something about the name 'Thanatos.' Something about... Death? Needless to say, he was puzzled. It was, after all, just a name.

Thanatos raised his head a small degree at the mention of food, though his voice remained the same pitch it had previously been in, even when addressing the Medusa across the room, "I thank you for your hospitality, but I shall forego the consumption of food."

The ghost of a smile flashed across his lips once again at the "innocent" suggestion of a warm meal, again finding their politeness alien, yet also comforting. Most he knew and spent any length of time with were selfish little monsters, focused on their own personal worth and what they may gain out of any and all situations.

"I am free to offer assistance as well, should you need any." His "gaze" watched closely as Kolya favored the arm that he had shaken hands with, and as unfortunate as it was, perhaps it was preferable to just the plain feel of Thanatos's touch - dry, leathery, not surprisingly just how one would picture dead skin to feel like, or know how it felt had they come into contact with it before. The cold? It quickly receded, but the feeling of his flesh against one’s own stayed, creeping and tingling, and was not easily forgotten.

"I apologize for the unpleasant handshake," He breathed softly, half turning his face towards Kolya, "Perhaps I should have given you an ultimatum before accepting it."

Aderlass listened to the others in the room near by. He bit his lip and moved to the fridge and pantry to look and see what he could work with. He flicked the tip of his tail and sighed a bit. Most of the food was either gone or rotting. "Well food will have to wait...um....I can make some tea for you two and you can drink it or not...um just make yourself comfortable on the....um....well couch or chairs....". He knew that the others were not anything like an item. But the dull colored medusa was always more reluctant to be in groups. He always felt like the odd ball out or the third wheel. Even during the threesome in the bath event he had been in the middle and made the other two males feel uncomfortable. Then his mind started to slip to the one time he had been lead to a bedroom and he had gotten a little too close to one of the shop Medusas.

He shook his head at the thoughts of the past and the need to see his one armed friend. He prayed that he was safe. "My...dear...." he sighed and filled a kettle with water. He had to be a good host wail the host medusas were out.

"After we clean the shop we can go grocery shopping if you like. I'm sure it would be appreciated." Curious, Aderlass' refusal of assistance with a meal (then, amended, to serving tea), when he and Kolya had previously intended to work together to clean around the shop. Kolya seemed to recall that Aderlass was rather familiar with the shop residents; perhaps he felt obliged to act in their absence? Or perhaps this third medusa made him particularly uncomfortable, or simply for the size of their group. Interaction with one other can be a far different experience than with a group of three or more. With that in mind, Kolya did not press the issue, and simply accepted the offer. "I would love some tea, thank you. Please let me know if you would like help with the dishes afterward."

That left him with Thanatos. His apology suggested that the bizarre effect of his handshake was not premeditated, and if expected, in fact regrettable. He could understand the reasoning behind this medusa's name, beyond appearances. His was like a touch of death permeating the body of one living. This observation was the kind of comment Kolya had learned to refrain from making, even if in his earliest years he had not understood the folly of such outbursts, however astute.

The chill had indeed receded, though he would not soon forget it. Pain was no stranger to him, it could be endured. Instead, an analysis of the sensations associated with Thanatos' touch, and their implications, tumbled around in his mind. It inspired some measure of fear, yes, but also a certain level of awe. "I do not believe you meant any harm," he spoke with conviction then later smiled: "and I accept your apology. Thus, I have offered you both greeting and forgiveness in a few short moments. Would you care to sit?" he asked with a welcoming gesture, a wave of the same, tingling arm.
