She listened quietly, a single brow rising and then falling at the words "orphaned children", but otherwise nothing else was given on that topic.
When he seemed slightly annoyed by the last thing he said, she gave a silent chuckle, knowing the feeling...

"Hm?" She said softly, quickly coming out of her small museings. Realizing what the question was, she continued, the first couple words a bit rushed as if to catch up on the time she wasted by noting being "awake". "Oh...I live a little outside this area in a small abandoned apartment. It's nothing fancy, but it serves its purpose just fine."

She looked over in the general direction of where she lived before adding, "Some nights I'll stay in Clocktower, or one of the more secluded churches around the area."

She went silent for a moment before quickly asking, "are there many children at the church?" She spoke quickly and out of fashion.

He arched a brow turning his attention fully toward her, "Children?" thinking a moment he allowed a straight smile to come to his lips. "No there aren't many but one is too many to have orphaned in my opinion." He strugged paying no mind to the sad approach.

"Clocktower? Is that really home for you? Don't you get lonely for some attention?" Curiosity killed the cat but it didn't say anything about a Clockwork. Although the question was oddly placed considering he himself tended to like being on his own at times. Perhaps the children balanced his livelihood for him.

His smile caused her to give a slight one of her own as she nodded at his comment. "True to that," she said, looking out over the park. Her eyes didn't stay there long though.

Looking back at Ennui, it was her turn to lightly arch a brow. "Attention that has never been had can never be missed." A small chuckle carried itself from her voice as she continued, "I'm affraid that on the topic of having people around who're able to stave away loneliness, you are more blessed than I."

"My apologizes if I struck a nerve, simply curious as to how you spent your time... well considering our length of life." He let the subject drop falling into silence as the children from afar tinkled with laughter. Nothing the sun's direction he sighed giving the other Clockwork a slight nudge with his head in the general direction of the church. "Is is time for lunch and it is my turn to assist, if you would like to join us feel free." He said and left it at that as he headed back toward the church his strides slow and deliberate, hoping the other Clockwork would indeed take him up on his offer.

Relíque was about to respond, mouth open and everything behind her mask, but was cut off with the Sorrow's next words and sudden retreat.

...Well, now what was she to do? The ivory-haired woman sat still, the offer from Ennui just barely registering in her brain as she continued to watch him slowly walk away and back towards the church.

The church. He had offered for her to go to the church with him and what, help assist with the lunch? Would the Father and priests be there? Monks and whoever else? The thought actually sent a small shiver up Relíque's spine. She hadn't been to a church while its holy occupants were running about in well over a hundred years, and she honestly didn't want to start going now...But she felt compelled to follow the other Sorrow for some unknown reason.

There'll be kids there, right? The realization offered some comfort in her suddenly frantic mind and let her pick herself up and dust herself off. With a quick glance around her, Relique noticed that Ennui still hadn't gone that far at all. He really was walking quite slow...

'Enough jibber jabber,' thought the female Sorrow after another few seconds of being statue still and then finally letting out a small sigh. Gathering herself, she moved down across the grass at her own pace, hands lightly clasped behind her as she closed the gap between herself and the other Sorrow.

A gentle smile crept along Ennui's face as he heard the soft crunch of twigs and the mush of grass. It was evident the other Sorrow had made up her mind and a good choice he was sure.

To his delight lunch time meant marriment among the children with a few visits from other Church officials but nothing out of the norm as most of them tended to eat in a rather stale dark room over a long dinner table. And for some reason they never liked to discuss their day...?

Feeling more than hearing Relique approach him, Ennui dropped his smile least the Sorrow see him and continued walking with a purpose. By the time they crossed the street and returned to the children they were surrounded by laughter and giggles. "Who is this woman, Brother Ennui?" One of the children asked, becoming quite attatched to her mask.

More of the children came around at the question wondering the same thing and awaiting an answer from Ennui. He seemed a bit perturbed by the question not sure how to express this. Shrugging he simply stated her name, "Relique." The children were of course not satisfied with that as each of them returned with a volley of questions to add.

Bitting his lip he reached out toward Relique allowing a plan smile to come to his face. If one noticed he probably looked rather comical with the children crowded around him thusly. "I apologize for this, they are curious creatures." He stated pushing through the sea of children to enter the vast halls of the cathedral. Their chatter only heightened with the echoes causing Ennui's usual displeasure of children that didn't obey rules. "Silence!" He spoke firmly and loud enough and almost instantly the children did as told. "Let us make haste to the dinning area and we can have a civil conversation there. Perhaps Relique will even answer your questions... if you do not pry. So mind your manners." With that the children nodded their heads seemingly satisfied and followed quietly behind the two Sorrows. "This way." He ushered the other Sorrow a rather apologetic look to his face despite the cloth over his eyes.

Relíque trailed along just behind the other, creating no noise the entire time aside from whatever was made by her smooth strides. She let herself gaze idly about, ears catching the small cries of songbirds that flitted about the trees...which were soon and almost immediatly contorted into the giggles and cries of children.

When the female Sorrow looked about, she no longer saw a forest of trees, but a forest of kids that were now all gathering about herself and Ennui like bees to honey. With her single visible eye, Relique looked to each kid as she lightly smiled to herself from behind the mask. When she heard her name, she glanced up at the other Sorrow and watched, her small smile become larger as the children started to bombard the poor guy with questions while she herself remained silent.

...

Well, save for the chimming laugh that followed a couple seconds later at the apology. "No need. Children are children," she said as she began to gingerly make her own way through the throngs of little wiggling bodies.

Relique followed him into the cathedral where she fell silent long before the children had; she needed no orders to shush her already soft voice.

The vast grandeur of the place made her catch her breath from a mixture of emotions that were made up of both awe and even hate. Crimson eye flicked to each pew, each cross, bible, and flickering candle, until her head started swimming so quickly that the only thing that reeled her back into the "now" was when Ennui spoke again. Mere seconds had felt like hours, and when Relique looked away from the stained glass windows and back at the apologetically smiling Sorrow, she wore a slightly confused look that flickered quickly behind her eye.

Shaking her head slightly to clear it, she blinked in some silent response and followed carefully like the children around her were.

Often it was hard not to miss all the grandeur of the place, indeed, he too had some qualms about the place. But as long as the Father didn't bother him too much about his "beliefs" he didn't cause too much of a ruckus...

They made their way to the dinning area where all the children were egar to help out. Each one rushing to the kitchen to grab plates, silverware, napkins and side dishes.

Ennui went to the table pulling out a chair. "Please sit." He said softly, waiting for the Clockwork to come forward. This was routine for him, having the children do all the work even if he was meant to set up the table and so forth. They seemed inclinded to be useful.

"They like to set the table so I gave up a long time ago in getting them to listen to reason. Beside, less work for me..." he shrugged slightly but it was obvious he was smiling despite not a single twitch of his lips was evident.

"May I ask what do you like to eat? I'm sure the cook wouldn't mind making something for you."

Sitting down, Relique tilted her hear upwards and to the side as the Sorrow behind her spoke before looking back around her at the said children. She found it cute how they were all so eager to help; carrying glasses, plates, silverwear, napkins, and an assortment of other stuff.

Giving a melodic chuckle at the sight once more, she looked back up at Ennui when the proposed question reached her attention. "Oh. Um...Just ice tea, if it's not too much trouble," she replied, her silver bell voice just audible over the clatter of plates still being put on the table as small feet pattered to and from the kitchen.

Ennui nodded heading to the kitchen door, he just barely dodged a child entering with a plater of food before disappearing inside the kitchen. Moments later he came back out with a tea kettled and some tea cups. Setting the kettle down closest to Relique he place the small platter of teacups in the middle of the table.

He poured her a small cup as well as himself setting the kettle back on the table. "If there's anything else you like don't heistate to ask." With that said the sound of feet was barely audible, looking around it seemed the children were done setting up and ready to eat.

They were very adament about saying grace but Ennui wasn't too thrilled. Still he stood to his feet and bowed his head using the moment to meditate on other things as the eldest child led the children in prayer. All throughout the prayer Ennui couldn't help feeling a bit uneasy and somewhat fearful with the other Clockwork. It had been present the whole time he'd spent with her despite himself. Something about her was quite...off and yet it intrigued him even more.

When prayer was done he sat down not commenting with a closing "amen" rather than that he took his seat. Each child like a rabbid wolf reached across each other and the table to gather food on their plates. Never in all the time he spent here did Ennui get used to the scene. An eye twitched at how carnivorous the children could be. "I must warn you watch your hands least these heathens stab it with a fork and eat it." He said this with a straight face, seemingly serious but it was evident of mirth in his tone.

With the children settled on eating what was on their plates, Ennui ventured to make some selections of his own placing them on his plate.

When the prayer had taken place, Relique didn't participate, nor did she pretend to. The Sorrow simply sat there with her fingertips on the sides of her cup, single eye flicking to each praying child as she wondered how they could...well, believe and live in a religion that-...her thoughts were interrupted with the word "Amen."

Blinking, she took in the scene for one last second before startling slightly and pulling her cup off the table as the children became voracious little things. At the comment, she looked to Ennui and quirked a brow. "Are they always like this?" She asked and looked back still wildly eating kids. She kept her hands off the table, that's for sure.

While still watching - with what was once repulsion turning to intrigue- she tilted up her mask just barely enough to take a sip of tea before letting the porcelain fall back in place. Crimson gaze flicked to watch the other Sorrow collect his own food in an actual civilized manner, and it was then she really noticed a few things about him; like the halo and the crosses on his being. A tiny bit of confusion entered her mind on how Ennui seemed to be associated with the church, yet she didn't despise, or dislike, him in any sort of way imaginable...and even if he didn't follow the religion...well...

she gave up on the thought and shook her head before taking another sip of tea.

Ennui could tell the other clockwork had not gathered any food on her plate. She had said she wasn't hungry but surely she wouldn't mind taking a sample of the portions laid out before her. "Are you sure you do not wish to eat?" he asked finally taking a tender bite of his food. He let it roll along his tongue before chewing the meat and swallowing it down.

"It's quite good. The cook out did himself this time." There were still noises coming from the children. Much like a pack of wolves but while they ate they were pretty harmless at best. He gave them all a blank once over despite the cloth over his eyes.

He didn't push the subject further than that. Sitting back an enjoying his meal. It wasn't everyday that he allowed himself to indulge in the finer things in life, often keeping a low profile to keep himself as private as possible. Privacy was the key to living in this world... that much was for certain.

Holding her cup just on the edge of the table, the ivory-haired Sorrow turned her head towards Ennui when he first spoke, and then looked back at the arrangement of food upon the table. She still wasn't hungry, and even though she didn't wish to appear to be rude, she still kept to her tea.

"Thank you, but yes, I am sure."
She took another sip of tea. The unshown uneasiness that sat in her stomach kept away any hunger her body held at the current time.

She was in a church that was actually occupied, and any minute some priest or whatever other holy man could walk through the door. If that happened, Relique knew she'd probably start shaking and then race out the nearest exit.

The fear that radiated off the other clockwork was unmistakeable, in turn it was turning Ennui's hairs on end. He sighed deeply standing abruptly. His chair scratching against the hardwood flooring as he turned his head to Relique. The children all but went silent as they slowly chewed their food watching the man before them.

Slipping from his chair he walked the short distance between himself and Relique. Scooping the other from the chair he quickly took her by the arm and fled from the dinning hall into an adject, more private area of the church.

It happened so quickly that he hadn't realized he'd pinned her against the wall of the small room. Regaining himself he stood to his full height and stepped back allowing the other room to breath and perhaps compose herself. "Pardon. I forgot myself." he said trying to figure out what he'd brought her in her for in the first place. Something had triggered this action out of him but the reason behind it eluded him. "I don't know what came over me but I do feel a sense of apprehension from you. Are you uncomfortable here?"

With her heart hitting wildly against her ribcage, she continued to stare at him, even as he stepped back. For a few minutes, the words coming from his mouth were just noise, and his figure, along with the rest of the room, spun slightly. Just a minute ago she had been at a table...and now she was in another unfamiliar room, but this time against a wall rather then sitting in a chair.

With one hand she brought her mask down a little and then brought her other hand to one side of her temple to try and ease the new pain that was now traveling from the back of her skull. As she glanced down at the dark floor, Ennui's words started to sound like actual words...and all she could say was, "Forgive me."
