File 1... Homecoming

Fingers drummed along the tabletop as the yellow gaze remained steady on the beaming mirror image. No, not a perfect look-alike, but close enough. You couldn't find a normal career?" Normal as in... one that he'd approve of. One that didn't drag another resident into the mess that was urban living. At least, their urban living.

"Well, it was just the perfect sort of job. You know how it is-" Ithe waved a hand in an attempt to toss the subject matter aside. He honestly didn't see the problem. It wasn't as if Leilani would be some huge change in the household. Oh sure, another person, but she'd be at the lab with him. If anything it would mean he was bothering his brothers less. "And it's not as if I can just quit, it would be unfair to her." He made instinctive move as if to pat the girl on the head before realizing the issues that would come with it.

"You want me to just smile and nod when you bring things home? I'd expect it from Loki, but Ithe... you know better." They were lucky things ran smoothly as it was. Considering how they'd ended up there. It was probably a blessing that the town was so open to new people just... showing up. The very nature of the area had been a blessing for the three of them. In other words... luck had been on their side. Sadly, unlike his brothers, Peru didn't believe in luck sticking around. Which was why their actions often left him shaking his head. If something were to ever mess up the rather delicate balance... something little...

He sighed, drawing a hand up to rub at his forehead. "Is there any way to get you to say no?" That was the obvious point here. What mattered was if Ithe would back down. If there was no chance of it then he might as well give up.

"Nope, I'm going to like working there. I know it." Spending all day in a lab was what he did for a hobby. Maybe not looking over the health and developement of a child that was half plant, but close enough. It seemed right up his alley. "I'm not going to up and quit even if you ask, Peru." Which could be trouble if his brother blew up on him, but really... Peru was better than that right?

"That's what you said seven years ago too." Peru fixed his brother with a skeptical look. "We'll see how long that resolve lasts." Then a sigh as he gave the table one more round of taps with his fingers and started trying to make mental calculations on what the new child would do to their budget. "You know I don't like it though."

"When do you ever approve?" A bit of a smirk at that bit as he disregarded the note on his past. He had grown up a bit since then, just a bit. "Come on Lani, I'll show you your room."
