Kiefer didn't even notice Tierce falling back. When she suddenly pounced him, he let out a slightly high-pitched squeel as they both fell to the ground. His heart pounded and his eyes widened as he got the wits in him to comprehend that it was Tierce who had jumped onto him.
"Hey...that wasn't funny" he said angrily,wrigging from under her and getting up. "If you think a silly trick like that will scare me...your...wrong" he said, still a bit shakey from the surpise. Now, however, he felt more determination to win the bet.

Tierce was rolling on in the undergrowth snorting hilariously. " And * snort * it's too late to say * snort * that you * snort * aren't a scaredy colt !! * snort * , she pushed herself off the ground. " But you didn't run away dangit." She snorted once more.

"Fine, if you want to play that way, I will" he said, getting a bit upset that she was laughing at him. "Keep your eyes out for when I do something mean back to you" he challanged, flicking his tail wildly.
"Anyway, we are hardly that far into the forest. I betcha we might meet one of those scary soquili my papa met once. He said they have big sharp teeth, and will attack any soquili that bothes them!" said Kiefer with a smile, unsure if he belived this or not. But he did trust his papa. It must be true!

" EH?!", she didn't really like to sound of meeting any scary type of soquili.," Now you're just trying to scare me, but remember I got you first.", Tierce stated matter-of-factly. She wasn't sure who his dad was but she was sure he had been spinning tales for his sons enjoyment.

"Nuh-uh, you didn't scare me. And it's true! My papa said he met one! They are called...k...k... Kalona!" he said, still unwilling ot secound guess his father. "He said he spoke real funny...and..." he could never mimic, and he knew it.
"So watch out, or we might see one of those k-things. And it will eat you!!" he said, grinning. "He won't eat me, because I know what my papa did when he saw the K-thing, and I will to it too, and then I will get away!" he said out loud, more trying to convince himself then scare her. "But if you are nice to me, I will save you too!

" I don't have to do nothin', maybe I'll use you as K-Bait instead.", she replied haughtily, she refused to show him she was actually getting paranoid about the woods now. A squirell darted between her legs.
" AIEEE !!! ", she jumped straight up almost as high up as Keifer stood.

"Nuh-uh! They like to eat girls much better!" he said. Now, this part was made up, and he was trying to scare her, but also trying to condole himself: He didn't want to think about being eatten!
"Now who is the scardy-filly!" he joked with a smile "See, it was just a lil' old squirl, it won't hurt you!" he laughed, trying to hide that he had been spooked by her sudden scream.
Kiefer suddenly wanted to turn back. The woods had gotten darker. You could barely see the sun shine through the trees, and he wasn't sure if he would be able to get back. But...he was quite determined to win the little wager, and there was no way he would let a filly beat him in courage!

" No way, you're lying." She was getting paranoid now, the trees were moving and she could swear the shadows were alive, there was something lurking in the woods and she wasn't happy about it.

"Nuh uh, is the truth!" he said, unsure if he should keep scaring her...she was clearly getting scared, and well...so was he. His grren eyes glistened in the dark. What...dark? It was day time...the trees had nearly blocked out the sun. He took in a deep breath.
"Maybe...we...our parents....." No, he would not suggest turning back. He would not. The hard headed colt trudged on. He wasn't the braves in the world, but he was certainly stubborn.

This time when the kept on forward, Tierce matched stride not wanting to fall behind even for a second. Never know what might reach out and try to eat you.
The foliage grew thicker and thicker, pretty soon there were only patches of light and those were getting sparce.

As usual, Kiefer tried to hide his fear with jokes. "Welll...at least now if our parents ask why we were out since dark...we could just say we couldn't tell..." he said, laughing nervously.
His tail flicked around Tierce's rump slightly tapping int on the opposite side. He hadn't really intended it, nor noticed that he had hit her. Hopefully it wouldn't cause her any fear...

Something brushed against her hind quarters.
" DUCK !!", she hollered. She hit the floor and covered her snout with er forelegs and shut her eyes. She opened one eye wearily as nothign happenned immediately and looked up at her adventurous companion.NO good excuses came to mind.

((ahaha, when she said 'Duck' at first I was like, Huh? Why duck? Then I was like. OHHH! ))
Kiefer stood ridged as Tierce screamed, his eyes wide, looking around for trouble. Where was the danger? The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. He could see nothing...
"what happened?" he asked franticly, trying to look brave, but failing. "Why did you yell. whats is wrong?" he asked again in a hurried manner, getting more and more nervous by the secound. Did she see somethng he didn't? Were they in danger? What was going on?!?

Kiefer's chest heaved. "It...was probubly just a branch" he said, once again trying to talk himself out of his fright. "N-n-now get up you...scardy filly..or do you want to...run back? Hmm?" he asked, half hoping that she would say yes. He looked around.
But...which way was back? The forest closed in on all directions, looking no darker or lighter in any direction. Which way had they come from, anyway? Could they be...lost? No...he shook his head. Certainly couldn't be. Tierce must know which way they had to go. yes... she knew.
