Kiefer thought for a moment on that comment. If they got in trouble...they couldn't go exploring anymore. He shrugged, he wouldnt want THAT to happen...of course, chances were, if it came time to remember that advice, he wouldn't.

"Oh yes, that noise sounds like fun!" said Kiefer in delight, flicking his tail. Certainly this would be fun! He moved his ears to hear the sound better: Yes, it was definetly a new, interesting sound.

"Wait for me Abattie!" he said, running after his sister. She was certainly quick to take off. "Don't forget Tahlia" he called, looking back at his youngest sister.

"Wait for me! Wait for me!" Tahlia cried out, bounding after her siblings with unsteady steps. "Don't leave me behind! Wait! Wait!" The little filly was slow, and having a hard time catching up with Kief and Attie. She wanted to find out what that noise was ever so badly. It was a very pretty noise... like music, almost.

She forgot about her parents and the possibility of them getting lost. It seemed impossible for that to happen to them.

So with a bound, a jump, and several frantic cries, the tan filly went out on her first adventure.

((I'm bringing Bairn in, on the side to have a conversation with Astia if that's cool with you, Crow!^^))

Duh!

Abattie stopped, and waited for both her younger brother and sister to catch up to her. What an idiot she was! Didn't even wait for Tahlia to agree...she just took off running! Now what if either of them got lost? That would be her fault entirely. "Sorry!" She mumbled to both of them when they caught up. "I forgot!" The dark yellow filly laughed at herself, feeling rather silly. What an idiot she was!

So with slower steps this time, the young female made her way towards the noise, keeping her voice down in case she scared it away. "What is it I wonder?" She turned back to look at both Tahlia and Kiefer with an amused look on her face.

"What if it's something mean that wants to hurt us?" True, the noise sounded musical and friendly...but there was always a chance that it could be a trap for unexpecting and stupid foals such as the three that were approaching it. Suddently, Abattie got very scared of it and jumped back behind her younger brother.

He was, afterall...the boy in the family. When her Papa wasn't around, he was the toughest...so Kiefer would have to protect both of his sisters. "You go first, I dun wanna."

Meanwhile, back at the place that the loving family now called their 'home', a grumpy old stallion was yelling at his lion familiar.

"I told you to watch over the children, damn it! One simple job, Bae and you couldn't even do that." He shook his head violently and frowned. "I'm disappointed in you, my friend. I know you can do better then that."

He wasn't really worried for the safety of his kids, he knew better then to freak out like normal parents did when their children went haywire off into the forest on their own. If anything, they were HIS children...and Astia's. Probably two of the most independent soquili out there, they didn't need anybody before...well now their children wouldn't need anyone either.

And besides, he trusted Abattie enough to return them home safely. If not her, then at least his son. Now, the youngets of his children, Tahlia...as long as she was with either of them, he wasn't worried. It was like his own family all over again. Aruna being Abattie, Kiefer being himself and Tahlia definitely being Artemis.

No, the thing that pissed him off was Bae's uncaring 'care' for the three foals. What an idiot. Bairn didn't know if he should trust that lion again. "I cannot believe you, Bae. Damn it."

Kiefer slowed a bit, waiting for his younger sister. He wouldn't dare abandon his family, even if it meant slowing his adventure, he loved them far to much to do something silly like that. "It's ok Tahl, we wouldn't leave with out you" he said warmly.

They were getting closer, and he angled his ears to ear the sound better. So pretty...so interestesting...then he heard his older sister's comment. "Mean? Don't worry, I won't let anyone hurt you two!" he said with a smile. He held no fear at all in his heart... unless he accually saw something mean, he certainly had no reason to be afraid!

He extended his trot, now moving faster and leading the group. It made him feel special and strong, even though he was only the middle child: Maybe he wasn't so average after all!

Phew. Tahlia let out a sigh of relief. She had been so afraid that they left her behind. She would have gotten lost... With a shudder, the filly clung to her sister's side, not at all eager to get behind again. Her eyes widened, though, as Attie spoke about how the noise might hurt them. "But it's too pretty..." Tahlia mumbled, and looked up at Kiefer. He would protect them, right?

"Can we still go see?" The tanned filly said, in a quiet voice. No way was she going to be afraid. Her siblings weren't afraid, so she shouldn't be. If there was something to be afraid of, Attie and Kief would be afraid. She was safe. Probably.

"Bairn! Bairn!" A fretful mother raced back to her mate, in her home. How funny, she thought. She hadn't used that word in a while. She couldn't find them. Her children. Her babies. Another thing she would have to get used to, using that word. Why was she worrying, though? There was no need to worry. The mare laughed, nervously, then went back to fretting. Her mate would know where they were... Surely he knew. Oh God, he had to know.

"Bairn!" Astia panted as she skidded to a stop in the wet soil, facing her strong, tall stallion. Bairn. Her worries evaporated for a second, as she looked at him. Then they came back as she realized he was yelling. At Bae, that annoying cat. "Where are they? Do you know where the... uh, do you know where they are? I can't find them! Tahlia.. Bairn, please tell me.. Oh, just please tell me they're here!"

A giggle escaped her throat as she heard her brothers words to her younger sister. Such a caring, loving pair they were indeed! Always looking out for the others.

Abattie tried her best to nodd to him, though...trying to say she understood. But she still didn't. The young filly was still afraid, of whatever possible danger it could be. "Okay, Kiefer I trust you." She said softly, not knowing if her mind completely agreed with her heart.

The young filly nuzzled her younger sister quickly and responded the quiet voice that came out. "Of cource we can still go see! Tahlia, you don't need to worry, Kiefer will guide us...I'll stay behind with you!"

And with that, she trotted slowly behind her brother, getting closer with every step they took.

His mate's voice rang in his ears and he quickly turned to see her. "Astia?" The stallion called back, a lot less worried then his mate. She was that type of soquili, and she always would be...but being with Bairn should have made her worries die away.

Dark brown eyes stared back at Astia with a pissed off look on his face, he just couldn't believe that Bae let his children leave. Oh, he'd pay. He'd pay big time...for making his mate worry. "Shh, Astia...you're freaking out." He said calmly, nuzzling her. "No, I don't...actually. I told Bae to watch them and well...he let them slip away. All three of them. Probably together, though."

He frowned slightly, watching Astia worry was such a painful sight, but it was rather cute. A mother, indeed she was. "Tahlia will be fine if she's with the others, my love. They'll be fine if they're together. Abattie knows not to go far, Kiefer won't let them get hurt."

"I don't think It will be scary, and of course we are going, nothing is stopping us!" he said confidently. In truth, he really had no idea, but was rather excited about the idea of meeting something scary. It was weird...it made him nervous, in a good way though. The adrenaline rush...he was a fan of it, and that would probubly not end up being a good thing.

They moved forward and soon he could see it...it was....what was it? It was rocks, and dirt...but shiney, clear...funny stuff was flowing over it. He hadn't really experienced liquid exept for what his mother gave him, and the little colt couldn't fathom the idea of water...solid? Not solid? You could feel it, but it wasnt sounthing you could kick, or get on top of? "Why is it movin so much?"
PostPosted: Mon Apr 02, 2007 12:54 pm

Astia was trying very, very hard not to scream. "You are kidding me, right?" Her voice got higher with every word. "I love Kiefer dearly, but do you honestly think he could stand up to a kalona? Or even a bear? He's a foal." No, he couldn't possibly, right? And you can't run very fast on such little legs. "And what if they get lost or something?" The mare stopped. "You let BAE take care of them? Good lord, Bairn, have you lost your senses?"

The mare's face seemed to deflate, all the anger in it gone. She was just too tired to keep up with this much longer... Whoever said kids were easy was a filthy liar. "We have to find them." Tia said, simply.

Tahlia's face lifted, and she nuzzled her sister back, before hurridly following them. "We won't meet anything bad with Kiefer!" The innocent filly said, a smile on her face. Nothing bad could happen with her big brother around. Soon she was right next to her two siblings, and starting to edge forward. Her legs were quite fine, and moved her along swiftly.

"Ohh.." The tan filly blinked at the clear stuff below her, halting next to Kiefer. It was beautiful, just like the sound it made. "Maybe..." She frowned, and stopped talking. Her guess probably wasn't right, anyways.
For now she would just stare at it in wonder.

Bairn winced at the sight of his mate angry, that was the one thing no one ever wanted to mess with, an angry pregnant mare...or a mother in distress. Luckily, Astia wasn't pregnant anymore so she couldn't hurt him...but their children were missing. So his mate had all the reason in the world to be upset.

"Perhaps not." The tanned stallion said simply, still not terribly worried for his three beautiful children. They were HIS afterall, and it should come as easy to them as it did to him, what to do in tough situations. But when they found them, boy were they in trouble. Not only leaving without their parents, but leaving when both of them weren't around? Not smart. "But I wouldn't worry, Astia. They're probably not far anyways." He tried anything to get her to stop freaking out...because if it went any further, Bairn himself might start to get worried.

And when he was worried, that wasn't a good thing at all. "Yea, well sorry. I thought, well I thought he'd be more responsible. I told him before I left that if he didn't watch them I'd send him back to Mother and well, he hates her so..." The stallion frowned, and stared down at his familiar.

Quickly turning back to Astia, Bairn nuzzled her. "We will, we will. Don't worry, we will."

Bae just stared up at the two parents with an innocent, 'what the heck DID I do?' look, he was under the impression that letting the idiotic children leave was a good thing. They were annoying, and he couldn't stand them. Besides, it's not like either Astia or Bairn would honestly care if their family was in trouble. Right? Right? She didn't want kids, he was afraid of the outcome. As far as anyone knew, letting those brats go was the best thing for everyone.

"Ain't my fault you two are lousy parents." He finally said, with a smug look.

She listened to both of her siblings, staying quiet for a moment. The three of them were actually out on their own, they were. With no parent in sight to yell at them...it was sort of a life or death situation from here on out. No one was around to protect them from harm...save except Kiefer...but what good could he honestly do...? Abattie stared down at the thing that her brother had pointed out. Ah, what a strange sight indeed.

"That's the spirit, Tahlia!" The young yellow filly said softly, still staring at the stuff. "Wow, it's...it's pretty! It's..." She stuck a hoof into it and jumped back. "Really cold. What is it?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 03, 2007 12:54 pm

"Sure is cool!" he said, laughing at his stupid pun, trotting over to the liquid after Abattie. He put his hoof in...it wasn't so bad...he put his leg in, still not too bad...he got his whole body in...

OHHH! ColdcoldcoldcoldCOLD! His eyes widened as the liquid slawshed around him in all directions. The current was not nearly strong enough to wash him away, nor was it even deep enough to fully submurse him, but still, a good portion of his body was underwater.

He struggled his way out of the brooke: the whole ordeal had lasted only a few secounds, but to him, it seemed like quite long. He instincivly shook himself off, sending the water droplets all over his two sisters. "That was...Crazy!"

Tahlia sniffed, and delicately stuck her snout in it. Aggh! Sputtering, she recoiled. "It is cold!" The filly thought for a moment. "I don't know what it is... Maybe Mama or Papa could tell us, though!" She smiled broadly, watching Kiefer with mild interest. She felt safe at the moment, there was no way Kiefer could ever be in any trouble. This stuff didn't seem mean, anyways. "Stop! Eeek!" She jumped back from her drenched brother, shaking herself wildly, trying to get the cold sensation off her.

Silly brother.

That egotistical stallion. "Ughh!" One hoof stomped the ground angrily, as she flashed the mountain lion a death look. She'd deal with him later. "Look, Hun, I love you." Astia snorted slightly, "But I think you need a reality check. You have to be sure about these things, Bairn... You can't just assume that that excuse for a predator is a suitable baby sitter, or that three foals could survive on their own. But loo, we'll deal with this later. Enough talking, let's go!"

The fretful, suddenly elder looking mare hurried off, leaving her mate behind. She had to find her children. "Kiefer, baby? Tahlia? Abattie!" Her soft voice was suddenly loud, sending birds fleeing from trees. The golden mare paid no heed.

The little yellow filly watched in horror as her brother jumped in the water. Bad move, Kief. She thought to herself as she watched him freak out about the coldness. When she said cold, she meant cold. What didn't he get about that.

And then her attention quickly turned to her younger sister. Silly Tahlia, sticking her snout in the cold stuff. "I'll bet they know what is it, yea." The young filly said in response to her sister.

But when Kiefer sent the water flying towards them, almost in unison as her sister, Attie had jumped back. "Eww, Kiefer it's cold! Why'd you do that?"

Bairn realized he was in for it more then his familiar was when he saw the look on his mate's face. Darn it. This parenting thing was very new to him, and he wasn't very sure how well he was doing. And of cource, he came from a family that was mature enough to take care of themselves. His sisters and himself were always able to run off and come back alive, but they ultimately chose to stay around Mahiri and Hania. So that was never a problem.

The tanned father flashed her a sheepish grin before responding. "I get it, I do. I still just think-" He was cut off by the sudden take off of his mate. She had obviously gone to look for them herself. Well, what a ridiculous idea, but it would work eventually.

Shrugging, Bairn turned his head to his familiar and nodded quickly before taking off behind Astia. "Kiefer!?! Abattie!?!? Tahlia, I know you're around here!"

"Sorry, Sorry!" he said, done shaking. Oops. Well, he needed to get the water off, and his natural instincts told him to do it, so why were they yelling at him?

His ears perked up. He heard voices. Two. One was feminine and loud, one was masculine...and louder. "I think I hear mama and papa" he said, flattening his ears back. He didn't want to be found yet, they were having too much fun!

"Follow me!" he said, looking around, not really caring if his sisters wanted to follow or not. Once he got an idea in his head, it was hard to think of anything else. "See that spot where it gets slower cause there are a bunch of rocks? We should hop across that!" he ran torwards them.

The little colt put his first hoove forward, carfully getting it onto the flat top of the first rock. So far, so good. He put his secound front hoove on, so now half of him was in the middle of the stream and the other half was on land. He put a third hoove on the rock, and then as he put his fourth on the original, he carfully moved the first one onto the second rock.

"See? Not so hard!" he declared, wabbling a bit. Hopefully he wouldn't fall in, and mama and papa wouldn't think to look past the stream, 'cause they would think the three foals had gone along the stream instead of across.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 25, 2007 4:52 pm

"Mama n' Papa? We can ask them what it is now!" The filly bobbed her head in joy, her snout still trickling a little water from it. Slowly, she watched her brother step on those little rocks in that stuff. Pouting out her lip, Tahlia backed up. "Nu-uh, you can go yourself, Kiefer. I'ma ask Mama and Papa what it is!"

She did not leave, though. First off, she had no idea where to go, and little Tahlia hadn't even heard her parent's voices yet. Plus, this was interesting, watching her brother make a daring attempt to cross the stream. Hopefully Attie wouldn't go, too. She didn't want to be alone...

"Tahlia! Kiefer! Attie, where are you!?" Oh god, this was like her doubts. How ironic that she was sure she would lose her...the things in the baskets, as she had called them in doubt. The mare hadn't been so sure she wanted kids, but they were pushed upon her, and she happened to love them quite alot. She certainly didn't want to lose them now. Stop overreacting, she tried to say to herself. But she couldn't. Not until she found her babies.

A voice! Astia heard young voices, almost droned out by the babbling of the brook nearby. She turned back, looking at Bairn, "They're over here!"

Abattie heard the voices after Kiefer had mentioned it, she wasn't one to pay attention to stuff like that, so when others came near her...she'd usually jump. "Mama and Papa?"

Yellow eyes watched as her younger brother hoped across the rocks. "Watch yourself, little brother!" The fillies voice came around rather stern, she didn't want him to fall in and get hurt. Part of her wanted to jump and follow him, but the other part told her to stay put. Danger was written all over those rocks.

And besides, Tahlia wasn't going. She was rather wanting to go see their parents, which was probably the best choice. Their play was going to far if they crossed on the rocks. "I'm staying here, Kiefer. Waiting for Mama and Papa."

So that's what she did. Plopped her little body on the ground and waited for the two of them to show up.

Dark brown eyes watched his mate. She really wasn't handling this well. Bairn knew, from what his mother tried to pound in his head as a colt, that little ones were always going to run off. It was like their job, no matter what happened, they were supposed to. Astia really wasn't used to this yet...

Which wasn't really good. But of course there was that tiny fact that she was a loving mother that was freaked out about them running off. At least that meant she cared. A small smile was placed on the stallions face before he realized that Astia had spoken to him.

"What? Where? Children! You better come out!" He yelled loudly, a fatherly-like stern tone flowing through his voice. There was no way he was going to let them get away with this, if that was actually them. Especially not in front of Astia.
