To say Hailey was...in a 'fragile' state of mind, was an understatement. She was having her 'monthly' visitor--how she handled last month was a mystery to her. The young woman felt irritated, pissy, hot, and sore in her lower abdominal. To say she was in a foul mood was an understatement. Normally, Hailey had chocolates--which she craved--and hot bathes to take her mind off such a natural thing. However, she was stranded on an island. An island completely run by...men. Men were the last thing she wanted to see, think, smell, or even talk to. Jessie was sweet but he was starting to get on her last nerve and Wesley, she resisted the urge to verbally lash out at him for no good reason. Hence why the young woman decided to go get some fresh water--maybe being isolated for a while would do her some good.

Getting to the stream in theory wouldn't take long...however with her 'mutation' it made even the simplest things hard. Still, the young woman slowly hobbled over to the fresh water. And what did she see in there? A boy, a new person. 'Well Wesley now owes me.' That was the first thought that popped into her head. Followed by the thought was the action of helping the boy up but recalling her 'conidtion' she stepped away.

"Hey! Kid, you okay?" She asked, a few feet away to make sure she didn't 'contaminate' the new person.

There was someone else here? That was Skye's first thought after hearing another voice, one that was definitely too feminine to be Leonard's. His second thought was something similar to, Ohmygoshthereshouldn'tbeanotherpersonherethismustbetheinfectedstreamwhatamIgonnadoohmygoshaahhh!!!!

Yes, he wasn't in the most sane mood at the moment. His first instinct was to run back from where he came, even if it meant facing the angry swarm of mosquitoes. But changed his mind after several very quick moments of thinking. He really did want to see what these 'infected' people that Leonard had spoken of looked like, he hadn't exactly elaborated on the details. Also, he had to remember he was totally lost. Really, really lost. So what if whoever it was was infected. They could probably find their way out of the jungle better than he could. Then he remembered Leonard's words. Infected. What would happen if he caught this disease? Would he die? The voice didn't seem too far away, so... it wouldn't really matter, right? If he was to get infected, he'd already be infected, what with the girl, it had to be a girl, being so close. So, he would talk to her.

He braced himself. The voice had come from the right of him and he was basically on his hands and knees on the bank of the stream, so the person probably hadn't seen his face. Or the fact that he was smeared with dirt and had scratches from where the branches had raked him. He slowly, deliberately shuffled out of the water and turned towards the newcomer.

Yup, it was a girl alright. As if on cue, his face turned the brilliant shade of pink it always did when he met a stranger - especially a girl. He hid his face by looking down, his posture hunching slightly. Sighing, he tried to relax. It wasn't like she was going to eat him or anything. He looked up, able to look into her eyes without having to look down because of the fact that they were several feet apart.

"Ah..." he started hesitantly, "H-h-hi. I'm, ah... k-kinda lost."

When the new person moved closer Hailey stepped back. She didn't want to infect the guy nor did she want Wesley to be cross with her. Amber eyes carefully observed the boy--it had to be a boy because he had no...female assets to him. 'Great, a guy, I wanted to get away from those!' Her mind sneered. A frown came over her lips but was quickly wiped away. the boy was scared and...oddly he was cute--or from what she saw he was.

Her mood swings helped turn the girl from disliking the boy boy to resisting the urge to hug him for his blush. Hailey was all ways odd when it came to her once a month days...but all women acted strange one way or another when it came to this. Amber orbs locked with the newcomer's, she was willing to blink--another game of staring had begun.

"Ah..." Hailey began, placing her hands behind her back to hide. She wanted to hide her toes but she couldn't sit down in the jungle--ants would probably crawl up and...Mentally picturing such a thing sent a shiver down her spine. She really didn't want any insect to crawl over her soft skin.

"Well...I think to get back to your camp would be to go...I think back then make a left? I'm sorry I don't know." Hailey tried her best to explain while sounding confident but failed. "I'm Hailey by the way." Even though she didn't know the way to get back to Leonard's camp, the young woman thought she should at least introduce herself to the new person.

Hailey, huh? Skye frowned, trying to remember if Leonard had mentioned anything about her. Nothing cam to mind. She did seem like a decent sort though she seemed a bit funny Skye began to scrutinized her when she stepped backwards as he advanced forward. Though he wasn't the most vocal person, Skye was quite observant and saw when the girl, Hailey, pull her hands behind her back. The action was clearly meant to go unnoticed. As for the girl herself, up closer, Skye saw that she was considerably shorter than his eight of 6'4". Her hair was rather long, brown, and hid her ears. Her eyes were rather pretty and, on another note, her clothes seemed to have once been very high quality, implying that she was at least slightly wealthy. There didn't seem to be anythng strange about her. "Um..." he suddenly started, forgetting about the directions she had just given him. He really didn't know how to ask her this without sounding offensive, "L-l-leonard, this guy I met, h-he mentioned something about 'infected' p-p-people. Are you, ah... are you one of them?"

Almost automatically, without even waiting for a reply, he broke out into an apology. "I'm really sorry, maybe I shouldn't have asked. I just really want to know because you really don't seem all that dangerous and Leonard seemed to infer that people who are infected are. I didn't mean any disrespect and I'm really, really sorry if my question offended you!" Skye looked down at his hands, absolutely and honestly ashamed.

Hailey stood still as the guy did his own evaluation of her. However, every time he came forward she moved back a little. She was starting to get a little annoyed at the fact he kept coming closer--she was purposely staying away to make sure he didn't catch what she had! Were all men this thick headed?! When he asked her the question, Hailey didn't know if she should ask him if he was serious or laugh at it.

Now that she thought about it her appearance really didn't give much away to classify her as being infected or not. Her blue tipped ears were hidden by her now long hair--she really needed to cut it down or find a way to keep it out of her face. Her webbed hands were placed behind her back...and well, so far the guy didn't look down at her feet to notice how fish like they were. Once the newcomer was done speaking Hailey took her turn to speak.

"I'm not offended but I am infected." She brought her hands out to show him how yellow and webbed they became. "Leonard..." She almost spat that name out. "Just over exaggerates and the rest of us here are nice. If we didn't have this condition you would fit right in. The rest of the campers are guys so I'm sure you would lots to talk about...but I didn't your name."

She had yellow hands. Really yellow hands. With webbing. Strangely enough, however, Skye didn't feel the usually panic, anxiety, or fear that should have engulfed him by now. In fact, he seemed to get even more calm than when he was stuttering his apology to her. If anybody had asked him what he would do if he saw a girl with yellow, scaly hands while he was back home, he would have told them that he would run. But then, who ever meets a girl with yellow, scaly hands?

After several seconds of zoning out and most likely looking incredibly dumb, Skye snapped back to reality, and realized why he wasn't running away screaming like he should have been.

This was ridiculous.

He was stranded on a deserted island, the only other human he had met until now kept water in empty soda bottles, and there were infected people who, going by what Hailey looked like, had scaly, webbed hands. Not to mention what had happened before he landed here. How could getting webbed hands possibly make anything worse?

"You know," he began, his voice as expressionless as someone in shock (which, really, he was), "I would appreciate it if you'd stop moving back every time I move forward. The majority of everybody I know find it rather difficult to talk to someone from 7 feet away. Besides, if I was to catch - catch whatever you had, I would have already. There are about a million mosquitoes in this forest, and, no doubt, they have bitten you multiple times. This is my first time in the forest, and I have been bitten many times. So there's a very high probability that a mosquito that has bitten you has bitten me and so my bloodstream is now infected. Also, my name is Skye Montgomery, good to meet you, and I'd like to ask two questions. ' Am I dead?' and 'Why do you seem to hate Leonard?'."

That was probably the longest speech he had ever given to a stranger without stuttering - probably a side effect of going crazy.

Amber eyes blinked, it was normal for someone to be in some state of shock after seeing and learning something that could possibly alter their life. But, to see how the new guy reacted wasn't what she thought would happen. He didn't want her to keep moving back and from his explanation she understood. The mosquitoes were something she didn't think of yet--maybe Wesley did. Still, from what she recalled the virus could only be transfered if someone physically came in contact with the infected person, not through insects. Well, it is possible. She thought, tucking a piece of her long brown hair back behind her blue tipped ear.

Apparently 'Skye' also had some questions for her. The first one made the girl laugh a little while the second one made her lips form a thin line. 'None of your Goddamn business to know why I hate Leonard.' She wanted to say what she was really thinking--thank you mood swings--but had to take some control over her hormonal body. Inhaling a deep breath, Hailey waited a few moments to calm down before speaking.

"No, you're not dead. If you were then I wouldn't look like this, instead you would be surrounded beautiful girls--one would be me of course." She had to toot her own horn. "And they would be dressed in any style of your choosing." She paused for a second to answer his second question. "I hate Leonard because he was a jerk to me on the damn cargo ship, and when I changed he ditched me in a hurry. Oh and when we first here he decided to anger me instead of showing me where the camp was." Hopefully her reasons would validate her 'dislike' of Leonard

When she mentioned death and how it should be, Skye instantly reverted back to his girl-shy, stuttering self. "Ah, w-we-well, y-y-you are quite, ah, p-pr-pretty." He blushed furiously, almost shrinking into himself. He would rather not think about only having girls around him... forever. That would be pretty awful, he'd probably die of embarrassment. His hands twiddled nervously in front of him, a nervous habit that still hadn't been eliminated.

So, he thought, he wasn't dead. It was almost a shame. Would anyone ever come to rescue them? The probability seemed very thin. Noticing that Hailey had tucked her hair behind her ears, he almost did a complete double-take. Here ears were all... pointy - and blue. Skye decided not to remark on them, seeing as they might cause Hailey to become just slightly upset. Skye was completely oblivious to the fact that Hailey really didn't want to tell him about Leonard, and didn't apologize profusely like he would have had he know. Instead, he was obviously surprised as Hailey listed all the things wrong with Leonard.

"W-well," he started, trying to talk tactfully, "he seemed p-pretty decent w-when I talked to him..." He trailed off, not knowing what to say. By the way Hailey bashed Leonard, Skye could tell that she didn't really want to talk about him.

The mood swings kicked in again. Seeing the blush pushed away her negative feelings for Leonard, instead she wanted to huge and coddle the tall guy for blushing. Hailey was about to act upon her feelings when she snapped back into reality. 'I need to be alone for a while before I do something stupid!' She thought, placing her hands back behind her back. She was not about to go...and flirt with some random guy--even though in the past she did so. The guy could be like Leonard, sweet then a total a**...or end up being like Jessie who was all clingy.

Still! His habits were just too adorable! 'Get a grip woman!' She mentally yelled at herself for continuing that train of thought. When the subject moved back to Leonard she frowned again.

"He's nice until he doesn't get his way with you...from there he's a total pain in the a**." She nodded her head at her statement of the man before continuing on. "But thanks for the compliment. When did you get on this island?" She asked, her voice taking a happy tone.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 15, 2007 3:45 pm

Oh, good, she sounded happy. That was good. His ma had always said that an angry woman is not something one wants to deal with - Skye had seen her get angry often enough to agree. Skye was determined to avoid the subject of Leonard at all costs, seeing as Hailey really, really, didn't seem to like. He hoped he wasn't giving the wrong impression to Hailey. He liked her, just like he like most people he met, but in a friendly way. Strange girls in the past always seemed to think that just because he gave them a compliment, it meant that he wanted to date them. It really confused him. At any rate, Hailey seemed much to smart for that, so he decided not to worry about it too much.

As for the question of how long had he had been stranded... How long had he been stranded? "Well," He thought for a second. "Not that long. Probably three days max. I actually haven't been paying attention."

Normally when Hailey got a compliment followed by more advances meant a guy was interested in her. However, since Skye was too shy--it seemed--to make a move on her that clearly meant he was just paying a compliment and nothing more. Which was a good thing considering how fast her moods swung. It could only take one word for the girl to go from sweet as can be to a mad raving pissy woman--something no man should ever see.

Hailey nodded her head at Skye's estimated arrival. Three days wasn't that long, after all in a place where there wasn't a clock in sight, time really did fly by. She had been on the island for what? A month or more now?

"Ahh, well there isn't much here as you can tell. The main things to do here is look for food or swim about. The latter is way more fun than the former."
PostPosted: Fri Jun 15, 2007 4:14 pm

Swimming was good. Skye was a pretty good swimmer. He voiced his opinion out loud. "S-s-swimming is fun!" He said brightly, becoming much less shy than he had when he first started talking to Hailey. "Are there fruit trees around here? I know there are fish and -" He almost said 'Leonard and I' but decided instead for a simple 'I'. "- I know how to make f-fishing rods, so I c-could fish. Have you guys found out h-how all ready?"

He thought for a second, and suddenly remembered a question he had wanted to aask earlier. "Sorry t-to go back to the s-subject, but do the, ah, the other people in the camp have the same symptoms as y-you? I would l-like to meet s-some of the other's here." He honestly was curious and if they all had pointy ears and webbed hands, it wouldn't be that bad. He didn't want to venture back to to Leonard's camp just yet, just in case Leonard was still furious with him.

Apparently Skye and Hailey had one thing in common so far--aside from the fact they were both stuck on a deserted island, Swimming! Maybe they could go together--wait what was Hailey thinking?! 'Must, keep self in check...' She thought to herself, biting the inside of her cheek to keep herself from thinking anything that would involve her and Skye. When the topic switched to fishing, the young woman shook her head. No one she knew here on the island didn't know how to make a fishing pole.

"Nope, we haven't. Its either fruit or fiddle heads for us." She explained before Skye asked his second question. Amber eyes blinked a few times, he wanted to meet some of those who were infected? What a odd guy. She thought before speaking again. "They have some of the same symptoms...pointy ears, webbed hands...changes to our feet, but it all varies. Like with me, I have tinted blue ears but my hands and toes are yellow. Wesley his main color is gray and Jessie is redish...and he has some new limbs....but I don't know where the others are. I left them to do something on my own." She explained, lying on the last part. She had got away from the boys because she needed to have her own 'Hailey' time.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 15, 2007 8:36 pm

Extra... limbs? That was certainly odd. Once again, however, it only worked in spiking Skye's interest further. While he was an incredibly shy boy, his curiosity was the one thing that could always get him to do things, even when prompting, and constant teasing from his relatives could not. So it was only natural that the mere thought of getting to see others like Hailey got him excited pretty flash.

For once ignoring the fact that it might make him look like a total fool, Skye smiled brightly and held up his hand, his ring and pinky finger together and his pointer and middle finger together in the classic 'alien' greeting.

"Take me to your leader!"

His ma always said he could be a goofball at times.

Hailey raised a slender eyebrow, Skye wanted to be taken to her 'leader'? 'But I don't wanna go back!!' Her mind whined, she barely had ten minutes to herself and now she had to go back?! 'Maybe I'll just drop him off then go about my way again...no, can't just abandon him. That'll put me on the same level as Leonard.' Sighing to herself, her right webbed hand brushed away a few strands of hair out of her view.

"Okay. Be warned though, we have no leader....unless you count Wesley the British diplomat." She warned before turning on her heel to lead Skye back to the 'quarantine' camp. The walk didn't take that long though, it was just a matter of maneuvering around some branches....bushes and the occasional glance at some spider web.

"Wesley! Jessie! Anyone here?" She called once they set foot onto the camp site.
