Yeah I noticed the drink thing too. And Lex checked his watch right before Lana's complication which gave the impression that he was waiting for the drug to kick in.

It has come clear though that Lana is a major distraction to Clark. Now that Lana is out of the picture, Clark can actually focus on the zoners instead of who is ex is with. Still, at the end, Clark still wanted to find out why Lana would marry Lex. Still looking out for her. Old habits die hard?
Yes, I actually agree with you on that.

I seriously don't know how anybody could be a fan of lexana after this episode.

I'm still a Lexana fan. I didn't like the scenes cause they were hard to watch but I still want them together. Makes me wonder though, was there ever a baby? I mean Lana never got bigger and it could have been really easy to fake the ultrasound. He could have been desperate enough just to make her think she was pregnant to make sure she would be his. But then I remember his reaction in Static, the not a typical pregnancy talk, his concern for Lana... Idk, still iffy on the subject. Oh Lex, what did you do? cry

The fight was much better than other ones. When Clark goes against meteor freaks, they seem too easy. Throw against wall. Done. At least with Titan it could be called a fight. Ashley went down a little too quick against Lois. The episode was okay.
So if the relationship kept on going on like this, would you still want them together?

Actually I would. It is like how people still love Clana even though they broke up. I will still like Lexana.

Clark was an imbecile towards Chloe... again.

Anyway... Clark getting beaten up: therapeutic. Y/N?

I was kind of hoping he'd take the fall for Lois actually; I thought it would be interesting. One thing that struck me about this "fight club" was how similar it was to the set-up of Roman gladiatorial contests and I thought that was an angle they'd want to exploit, especially given that Smallville likes to pretend it's up on its classical history.

One thing that not everyone knows about gladiators in ancient Rome is that very few fights, particularly in the Colloseum, actually ended in a death. The audience was more interested in being entertained during the fight and would only vote 'death' for a gladiator they felt hadn't given his all to a fight. Lois was right when she said that "all they want is a fight" and I thought Clark might work that one out for himself. I mean, come on, Lex must have explained this to him once back when they were friends.

What would have been cool is if he'd played along with Lois for a while and then taken the fall so that she could make her escape thinking that he'll be let off. The audience would have known that he should have finished her easily, but he took the risk because he's a good guy and 'cause he has to stay to face off with Titan anyway.

That would have made him look good. Don't get me wrong, he looked a lot better in this episode than he has recently, but I prefer the version where he uses his brain, and where he'll do anything for a friend. I also felt like it would have been a better example of what makes him human than having him pine over Lana some more would have been.

Clark is a child. He throws tantrums and whines. Crys and pines.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 23, 2007 3:39 pm

The example that they used of what made Clark human was having remorse over killing people...

At the start of the episode it was the fact that he "loved" Lana. Then it was that he actually cared that he offed this guy, which he rebuked by saying that he wanted to kill him because he was angry - then we discover that he was angry because of Lana.

In this town, it all goes back to llama. dramallama

He was venting his rage at the Lexana wedding, even if it was by throwing himself into his do-gooding. If he'd actively tried to stop Lois getting hurt it would have made him look like a hero and the "this is what makes you human" speech wouldn't have fallen so flat (for me, at least).

I can't wait for lexandlana.net to upload the screencaps. There is maybe one frame where they are toasting eachother that makes them seem like they are actually happy. xd *sniff* Let me keep my dillusions.

One thing I really hated about the fight was when Titan was about to punch Clark after saying,"Time to die kryptonian," that the whole stop his arm and move it with all my might thing. I mean they do that everywhere and this one seemed a little idk, cruddy and unconvincing. Oh, and another thing. What happened to all of Clark's other powers? I mean superspeed, heat vision, superbreath, ANYTHING could have useful. But no, resort to brute strength.

I don't know. The weird thing is that they obviously gave the episode a pretty big budget, so there's no excuse to have him fight like that.

He really needs to start taking pointers from Lois. (Because the jumping up on Titan's back and pounding him with her fist worked out so well for her, lol).

Well, he told Martha he wanted to "kill him with my bare hands". Perhaps he was implying no other powers but brute strength.

This episode leaves SO many things open.
  • Will Lana turn into a form of Lilian? A ghost of her former self?
  • Is the baby really dead or in a tube somewhere? (we never actually saw any blood or anything...)
  • Who's baby was it? Was it actually Lex and Lana's, or was it just Lex's or just Lana's mixed with a meteor freak's dna? OR (and here's the biggie) was it CLARK's baby (they could have gotten his dna from the stuff Lionel used to have, right....?)?
  • WILL Clark be able to get over Lana long enough to track down all the zoners?
  • Why is Lex such an p***k? (Drugging your pregnant WIFE? Ohh ho ho, I went off the deep one about that...)
  • WHY did I think last week's episode was the season finale?

  • Will Lana turn into a form of Lilian? A ghost of her former self?
-Maybe, but I think she will bounce back, she is stronger than that I think. She will wonder what happened and her curiosity will become greater then her greif.

  • Is the baby really dead or in a tube somewhere? (we never actually saw any blood or anything...)
-Idk, they drag this out too much. We have to wait another month til the next episode too.

-I am so sick and tired of this ridiculous theory that Clark is the father. (if it proves to be true I am going to hunt down the writers) I mean come on. You can't change dna. The only way it could be Clark's is if they got his sperm and I don't think he has been donating. Anyways, Clark and Lana had sex like two years ago. By the date of the wedding and like the date of Lionel's meetings about "the weapon" and dark Thursday, it can't be Clark's. I really don't want to hear anything about prolonged pregnancies.

  • WILL Clark be able to get over Lana long enough to track down all the zoners?
    -He better.

  • Why is Lex such an p***k? (Drugging your pregnant WIFE? Ohh ho ho, I went off the deep one about that...)
-Desperate times call for desperate actions. He really does love her, she is the only thing that could ever make him happy. He didn't want to lose her and this was the only way, in his mind, to ensure that she would stay with him.

  • WHY did I think last week's episode was the season finale?
-Er... I can't help you with that one.

Wait, I have a couple of (Lois-related) questions.
  • Why wasn't there a closing scene with Lois?
    • Like one that would resolve:
      • Why Clark was there (for Lois).
      • Why Lois was there (for Clark).
      • How it is that Lois broke her fist on Clark (for Lois).
      • The fact that they both kind of owe eachother a thankyou.
  • Why, when we've seen him angst over stuff that was obviously not his fault, didn't Clark seem a little more upset about the fact that Lois, his friend, got hurt on his watch, trying to protect him, even though she knew Titan was:
    • Like 10 foot.
    • Like three times as heavy as her.
    • Super-powered.
  • Why didn't Lois get a bit more credit for this? I mean, come on.
  • Why was there only one Chloe/Lois scene anyway?
  • Why do all of these things in summation kind of give the impression that it doesn't matter what happens to Lois or what other characters (who are supposed to be her friends!) think about it?
I've changed my mind; I don't think the writers were loving Lois in this episode at all. This is like what they used to do with her in season five. neutral
