As Zack walked away all cocky-like, Patricia just watched him go, in between being amused and annoyed by him. Good riddance, either way. She shut the door quietly behind her once he was out of view. There were better things she could be doing than talking to people.
"Me too," Gavin nodded. Aliens would be a bad thing, especially since they seem to be the mommy-stealing types. Who knows? Maybe Picia was an alien. That would explain a lot of things.
"Alright," Gavin said emphatically, licking his lips in concentration. "Corners."
This was going to take some mad skills on their part. 25-pieces does not an easy puzzle make. Sifting through all the pieces, Gavin searched and searched until finally he saw one with two flat edges. Aha! A corner! He set it down on the ground away from the others, completely proud of himself for finding a corner amidst a sea of puzzle pieces.

"Should investigate," Osha told Gavin, nodding. If they were mommy-stealing aliens, then they needed time-out, or something. Stealing wasn't nice, and it was breaking the rules. Bad aliens.
Osha watched Gavin as he searched out a corner, amused that he was taking the game so seriously. Puzzles were supposed to be fun! Though, he did look happy when he found the piece he was looking for, so Osha supposed he could be really focused, because he was still playing right. Directing his own gaze back down to the large pile, he started spreading them out across the floor. "Makes it easier to see," he explained, plucking a second corner out of the pile.

"We should! We should!" Gavin exclaimed, though trying to stay focused on finding another one of those corners. Dang, they were hard to find. They could investigate Picia first. Finding and capturing mommy-stealing aliens would be quite the adventure. Therefore they should totally do it.
"Next time Osha come, we investigate," he said, finding another elusive corner piece now that Osha had spread out the rest of the pieces. Now it looked like they could put together a picture. Amazing what Osha could do! They needed to team up together more often. Hawk Man and Painter Boy! Saving the world, one mommy-stealing alien at a time! And they do puzzles.

"Yes!" Oh, that sounded like an adventure! He'd make sure to wear proper adventurer clothes. Adventures could be very dirty, especially where Gavin was involved. Besides, a good adventurer was always ready for everything, and that included spying mother-snatching aliens...but maybe he should watch Men In Black a few more times first. So he knew how to handle aliens.
...Zack let him watch the coolest TV.
He grabbed the last corner and put it with its brothers. Good. Gavin was getting the hang of it really fast! "Sides now," he said with a nod. They could even start putting them together if the colors fit togehter. He shifted, rolling around until he was sprawled on his stomach, eyeing the pieces face-to-face. Sides were a lot easier to find, because there were a lot more of them.
"Got one!" he said happily, pushing it to join the corners.

"Osha works too fast," Gavin said, sticking his tongue out in concentration as he searched for more side pieces. Sure, he had great vision, but that was for faraway things. Not masses of cardboard pieces right in front of his face. At least he'd succeeded in planning another grand adventure. He hadn't gone on one of those in a long time.
Speaking of grand adventures...he hadn't seen much of Haki lately. Maybe Osha knew.
"Have you seen Haki?" he asked, finding another side piece which he placed with the others. Finding them was one thing, putting them together was a different challenge entirely.

Osha shrugged, sticking his tongue back out at Gavin. He didn't work too fast, Gavin was just too slow! He needed to practice more at puzzels. Osha could lend him one of the ones he'd already done. He'd give Gavin one of the pretty ones, because Gavin was his friend and one shouldn't give friends uglies.
"Haki?" he asked, frowning as he tried to recall the people he'd seen lately. He hadn't seen too much before his mommy left. Then she left, and he saw nobody except Dacian. Then he met Zack and saw Ina and met Ismet and...Elisa! That was her name. But with Zack, the person he saw most was Bran. Not that he minded. When Bran cooked, things did not set on fire.
"Nope," he said finally, shrugging. He found a few more puzzle sides and shuffled them off to the side. "Why? Aliens snatch her daddy too?" It could happen!

Gavin's shoulders dropped with disappointment. It didn't seem like anyone had seen Haki. She was supposed to be sneaking over for sleepovers in the middle of the night, ordering him around, and making him pretend to play the hero. Osha might be his best friend, but Haki was definitely his best girl friend. Not in that way of course.
"No idea," Gavin responded. "I haven't seen Haki in ages."
Sifting through the puzzles pieces, another side came into view. "Last one, I think."
He handed it to Osha. Osha knew what he was doing.

Osha glanced at Gavin, frowning as his friend's shoulders slumped. He wasn't terribly fond of Haki himself -much too bossy for his taste- but she wasn't bad. It made Gavin sad. And, more importantly, nobody deserved to have their mommy, or daddy, in her case, snatched by aliens.
"Maybe she come alien hunting too?" he offered, shrugging as he took the last side. Then, Gavin could see her, they could go on their grand alien hunting adventure and find the nasty parent-snatching aliens. Maybe Haki could be bossy at them and make them give their parents back!
He smiled a little to himself, pushing the pieces together until they had a nice frame for the rest of the picture. "There!" he exclaimed happily.

Haki was bossy--that's for sure--but who else would sneak over to his house for impromptu sleepovers, or show him shiny things, or need him to be her hero? However, if they ever did find her, she'd probably like Osha's suggestion of alien hunting. She'd want to be the head hunter, probably, but that'd be okay.
"Yeah, yeah!" Gavin agreed with enthusiasm. "Haki will looooove that!"
Now they just needed to find her somehow. Well, Gavin could save that for later. At the current moment, they had a puzzle frame to fill. Frame pieces were somewhat easy, considering all he had to do was look for the flat sides. This part was quite a bit harder. All the sides looked the same! All squiggly and not straight.
"What should I look for now?" he asked. He knew there was a picture to make, but where to start?
