If you REALLY want to jam like Cream and bands like that, there's only one thing you can do. You have to sit down and practice chords, riffs, everything. For years(if you want to be that good). But the only solution is to continue practicing every day for hours.

sort of ... yea need to jam !!! practice is cool and all but its only half the battle . The more you pracitce AND jam better you get at it . It cool to know what to play over what and what . But yea need to know how to be musical . And thats point at the end .

Learn songs of your favorite bands. Soon, you will learn alot of the tones on the guitar, and you can make up a tune in your head and then play it easily.

I am a MAJOR improviser look in my thread.
A realy easy way is to learn A scale. A really good one is minor pentatonic E Why e?
Cause it uses all the open strings. So it makes it easier. Then Practice all of the positions across the neck. Learn to play them and string good sounding notes togother.
Hummm.... A good way to start off I would say, Learn how to play "sweet child o mine" slash ussally uses e (well eb cause he is down a half step)

If you dont get that now you well later .
