Amryx

Amryx nodded, listening to what other customers had to say. It seemed that the woman who owned the Orange girl had happened upon her child the same way that she had happened upon Adrian, and the other two... Huh, the Scents simply materialized? That would have been an interesting sight to see, though Amryx was glad that she wasn't present for Adrian's birth. Such a sight would have had her running to the local madhouse.

"Adrian, if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it," Amryx grumbled, using the same sentence her own mother used on her. Ah, if only her dear mother knew that she was a mother herself. The old woman would have been beside herself with joy if that... event hadn't happened. Amryx sighed and shook her head, trying to clear it.

"I think I'm starting to understand... Oh, um, I don't think you can wash off the scent," Amryx explained apologetically to the Orange child's 'mother'. "I tried to do the same with Adrian and he still reeks."

"You shouldn't have gotten a scent you didn't like then," Adrian complained, before blinking in response to Amahté. His nose wrinkled as he realized that he had just been insulted by somebody who was wearing a diaper.

"I don't care what color it is, a diaper is still a diaper," Adrian sniffed, somehow managing to keep ahold of his dignity. "You know what boys wear? Pants. Even that girl over there is wearing pants," the emo scent pointed out. Hmph, all of this talk about 'family' and such was making Adrian even more irritated. It seemed like he was hellbent on pushing everyone out with his negativity.

As the masses of Scents and Guardians interacted, a jingle of the front door insued. A frazzled looking Olivia stepped through with carrying what looked to be boxes and boxes of candles. When she turned to the crowd after making sure the door was actually closed she starred, feeling slightly dizzied by the overbearing scent in her shop. That to her was uncommon onto itself.

"Wh-what is going on?" Olivia stuttered, noting all the children in the shop and panicked. "I-I'm sorry, if your children h-have broken your burners I can't refund them for you."

A happy looking Ment came bounding up to his 'mother' and hugged one of her legs, " 'Livia! 'Livia! Look! They're here! They're here!"

"Wh-what? Whose here!? You didn't hunt these poor people down and drag them here did you?! Ment! That's stalking!!!" She hissed, a obvious look of frustraition on her face.

Kitten put a hand over her face to stiffle a groan as all the children gabbled and talked together. It was hard to tell who was getting along and who was already starting trouble from where she stood, but at the very least Vanyel hadn't been hit yet and that was pretty important to her.

As Olivia entered the store Kitten put her hand back by her side and waited for the woman to finish talking to Ment before smiling and shaking her head, "Oh, no, he didn't do anything of the sort. After Vanyel showed up I thought I'd come make sure I didn't do anything wrong. I think a few of your customers are a bit more concerned than I am though."

Vanyel gave one of those wide-eyed confused but interested looks as she listened to Amahte. "A god? Really? I've never met one of them before, I've only read about them in my books!"

The girl's speech about gods that she was just about to give was interrupted however by Adrian's continued insistance that the Eyptian boy was in fact clad in a diaper and that Vanyel was more of a man that he was. Vanyel did not take well to be called a boy.

Screwing up her face, Vanyel turned to Adrian, "Not just boys wear pants you know, and not all girls just wear skirts. What you wear doesn't say anything about you..unless you're a boy wearing a skirt and that would just be silly. He's not wearing a skirt though. If you noticed, it looks more like a blanket. I bet his mommy gave it to him to keep warm when she brought him over here. It's definitally not a diaper though."

For the most part, Arius was still unnoticed by the girl.

Amahté took Vanyel's confusion as unadulterated awe and under her scrutiny - of which she no doubt oggled him in absolute adoration as he really had no time to take a better look - he bristled like a peacock, drawing up all four feet (and barely plus) of himself to a magnificent height. Well, he thought his height was quite magnificent and that's all that mattered.

"I wouldn't normally mingle with people like..." - he took a moment to give a dismissive wave Adrian's way - "But today is a lucky day, I guess."

He failed to mention how it was Mary who had all but dragged him out into the cold, how he had dug his tiny little toes into her porch, and how she had unceremoniously hoisted him into the air and held him like a sack of potatoes the entire trip to the shop. These little details he kept under wraps, swallowing them thickly as he rocked back and forth on his heels, hands folded neatly over his little chest.

Mary had taken to chewing her nails, an old habit that her piano instructor had long since beaten out of her. The edges of her tiny fingers became raw and red and swollen she nibbled so hard, and her brows knotted along her forehead. Thoughts raced back and forth in her mind, fleeting, dizzying, that if she settled on one she would be sent to a crashing halt – she’d much rather the vertigo she faced now than the queries her mind sang.

She visually leapt when Farlest’s voice registered in her mind. She stared mildly at him for what seemed an eternity before she made sense of his words; she colored and gave a high giggle.

“Ah, well, no…h-he’s really quite dear,” she murmured, shooting a glance back at Amahté, catching him acting as… ‘normal’ as HE could be. A frightened smile made her lips tremble, and her nails soon returned to her mouth. “Yes. Dear. Very. What’s yours called? He seems an angel!” Her voice was soft, but her words tumbled over each other, rushed.

Her eyes darted to Arius, back to Farlest, and then about the room – she looked very near fainting when Olivia finally burst in on their little familial scene.

The little Egyptian was taken aback by Adrian’s remarks, simply because he had spoken back to HIM. He gaped a moment and his entire face pinched, again advancing, and again his attempts were futile as the only girl in the room (though he’d beg to differ looking around now…) cut in. She was angry, obviously, but definite. He decided – though he wouldn’t tell anyone…well, YET – she seemed to be a profitable ally.

That woman is hardly my ‘mommy’,” Amahté interjected, glancing Mary’s way. She returned the glance, having heard him, and ducked farther from him; he sneered. “However the girl” – he looked pointedly at Adrian as if daring him to call Vanyel otherwise – “is correct in assuming the blanket was for the cold.

He petulantly added, “And plus, pants chafe.

To say that Farlest was being overwhelmed by it all was probably a gross understatement. He did well with people, yes, but one on one situations were ever so much easier. Listening attentively to Mary he had to sympathize...and suppose that he was lucky that his child didn't...ah, consider himself a deity.

"His name is Arius, or so he tells me." The elf responded, "And he isn't quite an angel, but he's manageable." Or at least, the lithe male hoped he was.

Which was about the time that Ari started squirming, wanting to be let down. He had noticed Vanyel's lack of attention and wanted to remedy it. The fact that some of the boys weren't paying attention was understandable, sad, but understandable, but a girl!? Now really, that was just abominable.

"Ari, stay put." Farlest muttered under his breath, ruffling dark hair and ignoring the longing looks that Ari was sending. Green eyes flicked to Olivia the moment that she entered, and a relieved smile crossed his features. Maybe now they would all get some answers.
