Caelen chuckled lightly and bobbed his head in a bow of mock submission, "I always do as ladies ask me. I am Caelen, proud stallion of Ireland." He held his head up just a bit higher and puffed up just a bit when he spoke of his home. She had challenged him to a race? Now THAT was something he hadn't had happen to him before, "I'm surprised to find ye're interested in a race lass, most others are afraid I'll whip the fur offa their hide with my speed." His tone was pompous, but he winked to soften his joking sexist remark, "Ye've got the advantage of flight o'er me."

Sgina laughed a bit at the bow something she had not expected. She tilted her head slightly at the mention of Ireland. "What is Ireland? If I may ask." Sgina put her head back in a strait position. "Hmp I never back down from a chance to challenge someone. My legs are strong as any stallions, though I've never faced one from Ireland before."Sgina laughed a bit, but still had a serious look on her face. "Are you interested in my challenge, Caelen ? Or are you afraid a little mare is going to make you eat her dust? Flying? Oh no I don't fly,no reason too,my legs are strong unlike the weak everyday wind that rather fly then walk about. Wings will be of no use in a fight either less you want to flee and I will never retreat. Rather die then turn tail and run."

Caelen chuckled in delight, this wee mare had enough spunk for him to keep her around, "Ye'll find I'm a fast runner.. and Ireland is my home land.. Just a name ne many have heard before." He shook his neck, taking a deep breath and relaxing, "Ye've no need to be worried about needing a fight with me." He explained a bit, "I only fight with those that insult me homeland or me friends, I'll nae pick a fight.. but I'll damned well stand me ground." Caelen began to move and shift his legs around, he was in the mood for a good run. If the mare could beat him, well then by-god.. he'd met a good match to run with anytime he felt too much weight was gathering.

Sgina grinned his ruff edges being much to her liking. Being polite was beyond boring. He was from a different land then? How interesting had he come with the pale faces? It was no matter for now she would ask him later she eyed his shifting legs and fluttered her wings a but tightening them to her body. He had taken her challenge and she was determined to atleast run as well as him if not beat him.
"Well lets just see how good of a runner you are! I say from here to the waterfall just over that way. How does that sound?" Sgina said flicking her head in its direction.
It wasn't to far, but it was far enough. From the apple grove near by ran a river following the river and through a patch of long grass the waterfall was not to far beyond that point.

Caelen wasn't overly sure how he knew he wasn't from these areas, and his memories of what home was were blurred to say the least. She hadn't asked for more details which suited him just fine. People didn't need to know how he was different they just needed to know that he was indeed different from most of them and he had no interest in becoming like all the plain speaking fools he had maet. NOt to say that this lovely mare was a fool it was just that he was proud of his heritage. Bah! He was going onto the point where his thoughts were sentimental and foolish.
"I'll take yer race miss, but ye've a slight advantage as I only roughly know me way ter that waterfall. Ye'll find I'm a rascal and i may have a few tricks lass. Tis only a warnin'"
He put his nose down for a moment, took a deep breathe and shouted out, "Go!" Taking off at full blast towards the waterfall, taking a headstart as well.

Sgina grinned at the fact that he gave no count down it made her laugh in fact. She threw her head forwards and began to sprint with a push off from her back legs. Closing her wings tight she fell into her motions running up beside him slowly but surely. With this type of a race it was better to pace yourself then let it all go. She was rather enjoying this she hadn't felt happiness like this in a long time.
"Show me what you can do, green boy!" Sgina said in a joking yet friendly manner.

The rush of cool wind blowing through and past his ears, the ground giving just slightly as he pushed off with his legs, ahh! It had been far too long since he had run for the joy of it and not because he was charging off to fight with a neighboring herd. A grin split his lips as he ran thinking of all the insults they had hurled.. The little mare might not take nicely to some of them.. so he tried instead, "Are ye pigeon-toed lass? Try'n keep up with me!"
Oh-ho! A race certainly twas a bright way to see what someone was made of.

"No, but you must be hungry my friend cause you are just asking to eat my dust." Sgina said with a hearty laugh keeping up with him, but not losing her concentration while judging the distance to the waterfall to know when to kick it into the next gear.
Was he trying to make her loose her concentration? Or was he just throwing that comment out there for fun? Either way she liked it though the one with the more evil like twist to it appealed to her just a slight bit more.

The heavenly push and pull of muscles in his body made Caelen almost ache to let out a loud cry. Even a stupid race with a pretty little lass was more fun than just standing about grazing, "Oi lass, ye're nae gonter be able ter lift yer head if ye keep feedin' that ego 'o yers." The sheen of sweat was slowly making his pelt glisten, but he wanted more.

They came around the corner the waterfall now in sight. "At least I have an ego to feed, you fed your's so much it exploded." With that Sgina kicked it into high gear pulling away from him she threw her head into the wind. Though she was still not sure she could win Caelen seemed used to racing.

The water looked lovely and inviting. That only cued Caelen into a harder pace. Unfortunately, he picked the right footing to skid and catch a hoof on a random upturned root. Swearing midly Caelen was forced to stop - as Sgina ran harder.

Sgina stopped as she heard Caelen curse, she turned to look at him.
"Are you alright? She said raising a brow and walking towards him fluttering her wings just a bit.
Sgina was a bit frustrated that the race had ended so soon, but if he was hurt that was no good either.
