why do i see this turning into another AIC vs Nirvana debate sad

anyway image has always been part of music.......if the beatles hadn't been sex symbols...they'd have had about as many hits as bob dylan (who is a far better song writer) and how many #1s did he have? 0

*laughs* because it is xd But we're two Metal-Heads so we're gonna side with metalicious AIC

Hells yes, very right, having a good image boosts sales, so that's why the record comanies like a band to have a "thing" that makes them stand out (so long as its been done before so they have proof it works.....the companies aren't to keen on anything different, even the indies) *sigh*

Lol, no, not really, I just hate this whole 'Oh kurt was so great, why did he take the cowards way out' attitude of people that weren't alive when he shot himself. It seems he took the easy way out, and became this messiah. I hate that attitude of Nirvana fans. I agree, Alice in Chains are much better the Nirvana ever were.

Or Travis or Coldplay... They are all the same, they all suck and they all sound the same to be honest. I'm not a fan, personally if you want middle of the road, you can't go wrong with 80's rock, everyone loves it. Stan Bush is a freakin' genius.

Lol, and if you ask them of an album other than "Nevermind" they draw a blank xd rolleyes *sigh* kids today.

Just a damned pity they never got the attention they deserved. And a pity about layne. Damn that would've been an amazing set at Download if he'd been singing. Ah well. 'twas also amusing when I overheard someone ask "will the origianl singer be there?" ... I couldn't help myself with replying "well, they could, but that would bring Donnington to new lows." rolleyes gonk

It damned well sends me to sleep! Its like a natural seditive to me xd but its not the nice, relaxing sleep I get with falling asleep to death metal, its a wierd horrible nightmare laden dreamland......stupid Coldplay and their devil music stare

Like with my favourite Greenday song, I mention 'Dominated Love Slave' and everyone looks at me blankly and goes 'My favourite is when spetember ends/Blvd. of broken dreams/jesus of suburbia.' at which point just want to head butt them until there facial imprint is left on the concrete steps of some cathedral.

I don't know, it strikes me as something that would happen at Ozz fest, top the bill 'Alice in Chains original line up.' I'm pretty sure Sharon (that hell whore, who is responisble for the fame of bands like Linkin Park) will arange it, along with Social Distortions original line up (I still can't believe his death was deemed as suicide, it was death by mis-adventure).

Urgh, I know what you mean, at least you don't wake up in the night, screaming in fear, covered in a ice cold sweat. Because of some risidual memory of when you're sisters rebelled and listened to Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, 5ive and 911. *shudders* The memories still give me the creeps.

And lets be honest, Nirvana were cack.

Actually a better comparisson would to this, would be the Beatles vs. Stones, after all everything the Stones did, the Beatles did, but never got bad press for. Because the Stone appeared more as rambunctious rapscallions that went against what people stood for and encouraged rebellion and drug use... and all I can think about that is 'Did those people ever see yellow submarine?'. As for indie, are we talking true indie, or what passes for indie which is actually student rock.

Right with you there. I get people coming up to me incollege expecting me to love all these bands like Green Day (post American idiot rolleyes ), MCR and suchlike, and then get onfused when I say "i only liked the punky songs, and frankly hated Americna Idiot" .... and get called a poseur. stare On with the Death Metal and watch them twitch! xd I would say I'm evil...but I'm doing it as a service to thecommunity twisted

You're probably right... along with a booth to see Layne next to the autographs rolleyes . Its how he was found that makes me feel bad, apparently he'd started to decompose before he'd died eek And that kids, is what heroin will do to you.

*laughs* I had a minor phase of that, but it was curbed pretty quickly with the Deep Purple and Led Zep of my dad's collection xd

You've not seen the reaction I have when someone suggests I might possibly like MCR of FFTL or FFAF or some such band with silly acronyms, its like the shinning all over again... 'HHHHHEEERRREES JOHNY!'

And hence why I don't do drugs, except alcohol... and caffine... and chocolate... and in my crazy youthful days, I smoked the odd joint (as in literally one or two, I could never be a total waster).

I'm sure its a girl thing, I was brought up on metal, stayed on with metal, went through a J-Pop phase, got over the 'OMG ITS JAPANESE IT MUST BE COOL!' thing at 13 and started listening to bands I like, ignoring the silly letters in front, after all we don't call Europe E-Rock so why should we call Japanese bands j-rock.

I know what you mean, I do feel I am the only person that uses myspace as an actual social networking tool, as opposed to 'How many random people can I add and then I'll post bulletins that if you don't post back will mean you die.'

If I post a bulletin like that. Its generally 'If you don't repost you won't die, but a purple gnome called Oggbert might follow you around humming magic moments.'

Anyway... Oh yeah indie labels, I would say it is now getting to the point where Roadrunner are borderline mainstream, I mean look at their roster, they've even had Motorhead on their books.

Lol, I do the same, I keep getting this real crappy band trying to add me, I did them the honour of humouring them and listened to the music.....and subsequently stopped rather soon and declined their offer. They then resent the frickin request rolleyes can't take a hint.

*laughs* it amuses me that people keep reposting them, it implies they believe it.....ah, how I'm glad I ain't gullable.

they're not one of the "big four" *Sony etc* so they're called as an idie. Try to explain this to some kids and they stare daggers at you rolleyes

I was too busy drugged up on meds to be able to cope with anything extra-curiccular, but I'm going to have to break out the ol' explanation of how Layne died to one of the kids I know, he's going down a bad road, but then there's not much you can do with some people, damned contrary people *is one herself*.

I listen to a band, I like a band, I listen more. Nice easy philosophy, nice and simple, just the thing this poor cranial-impaired metal-head can deal with xd

Ahhh thats true, the big 4, Sony, EMI (who are Maidens bitches) Warner Music and whats the other one?

I was tempted to tell them that the reason I didn't add them was becasue they were crap and needed to learn good studio production. Their songs sounded as if they're been recorded in an old tool shed with equipment that was 15 years old.

Yeah, but that would have needed effort to type...and I didn't want to waste it, there's a limnited reserve of effort that I possess.

I have varying degrees of attentiveness to blogs, though my final English coursework is a blog entry, yay for the Government trying to relate to the young xd

Led Zep, Queen, Misfits, Deep Purple, Lynard are on the play list, we're educating the young on good music XD though, when chavs put a request in for chav music we just have to break out the metal for them twisted I remember a Dimmu song for one of them...the one were the singer sounds like a really angry little knome squealing in Norwegian. T'was amusing xd

I like to ramble to, its great fun to see the looks of glazed confusion on people biggrin
