"Yet another thing to look forward too." That time Zaph's tone was sarcastic, but he was still smiling to take the sting out of the statement. However, when he next spoke his voice was a bit slower, more hesitant.
"I was thinking...that I'd like to introduce you to my friend Elizabeth, Hie."
And, oddly enough, there was actually a connection.

"I wouldn't mind meeting your friend, Zaphiro. She must be nice if you count her as a friend." Hie did look a bit nervous, though. New faces weren't a strong point for the shy unicorn.
"Besides, I know you wouldn't make me meet anyone who would dislike me too much."

A positive reaction, to be sure. Leaning in, Zaphiro gave Hienna a nuzzle, then nodded. "Elizabeth and I have been good friends for quite some time, and she's been chiding me to settle down for quite some time so I know that for that alone she'll adore you, Hie; I really hope you like her too. She's a decent mare, if a bit strange her living arrangements."
As soon as he'd said that, Zaphiro realized how strange it must sound, then, chuckling, amended. "She lives full time with a two-legger, the same two legger I tend to visit. She's also a uni, like you. Actually, that's what made me think of her."
Though he had to chuckle; Liz would be furious with him for neglecting to inform her of his new status after all this time!

"Another Unicorn? Well, that's interesting. I just met a Unicorn not too long ago...Is she brightly colored? I have a theory that most unicorns are brightly colored. Viscoso was the only other Unicorn I've ever met..."
Hie returned the nuzzle and smiled warmly. This Elizabeth sounded all right - especially if Zaphiro was a good friend to her. So for that alone she'd likely enjoy the mare's company. Her mate seemed to have a lot in common with her, after all.
"Oh. Two legger. Is this one nice?"

That caught Zaph by surprise. "You met another unicorn? As in, you didn't know any others before?" That was rather surprising; he'd have thought at least her mother was a unicorn. Considering both of his parents had been winds, it was a logical thought.
"But actually...Liz is tan. Golden brown, specifically. So, unless you count that as a bright color, I'd say your theory is full of holes."
Shifting his position, Zaphiro once again rested his head against his mate's side, smiling at the slight swollenness that indicated their growing offspring. "I thought that maaybe we could invite Liz over for a visit, and that maybe she could help you out for a bit while you're pregnant. Since she's a uni, she might be able to help out if you get hurt or ill at all..."
"And yes, our two-legger is very nice. She's devoted to Soquilis, and maintains a gathering place for those of us she regards as 'hers', I guess. I think that there are eight or so of us that make going by even a random occurance; Liz is the only one that lives there full time."
And it had been a bit since he was there...
"Are you up to another wander, Hie?"

Hienna shook her head, "My mother was a normal mare - very plain except for a few gold markings on her. I'm guessing I got my looks from my father...I wish I would have known him." She was getting mildly weepy at the thought of it and simply sniffled lightly.
But her theory being shot to hell made her burst into tears. Not that she wanted to cry but she did feel the sudden urge to do so. The fact that she was crying over being wrong frustrated her and made her cry even HARDER.
Which made it difficult for her to answer his question.

Another unexpected developement; Hienna's sudden explosion into tears caused Zaphiro to all but start in alarm; as it was, he was still taken aback.
Moving a bit so that he was closer to his mate, Zaphiro wrapped her in his wings and snugged her close. "Hienna? Are you alright? I'm sorry, love, I didn't mean to upset you, really..."
What did one DO in this sort of situation??

Hienna looked at him and tried to stop crying, sniffling and hiccuping for a few minutes before the tears faded away and she nestled as close to him as she could.
A few moments later and it was like it never happened. "I'm okay. I...I just don't know why I keep bursting into tears. It's quite frustrating." It really, really was quite annoying for the mare.

...Right, the hormonal thing. She'd mentioned that earlier, hadn't she?
Chuckling, Zaphiro gently stroked her mane as Hie snuggled against him. "I guess that it's something we're both going to have to get used to, random acts of emotion." Which, frankly, has serious unnerving potential, but then so did a lot of other things. Just one more thing to get used to.
But... "So, what do you think?" Either they were going walking or they weren't going walking, either way he needed something!

"Yes. It is not very entertaining to me, I must say, and I don't think you enjoy it much either." Hienna shook her head and gave a weak little laugh. Walking didn't sound so incredibly bad, though.
"I think it would be a nice thing to do and I wouldn't mind going."

Somehow, Zaphiro really didn't think that he'd enjoy it that much either...but the reward would be greater than the hassle. Especially considering that he didn't actually have to carry the foals, merely deal with their mother!
Consequently, he was able to keep a sincere smile on his face as he nuzzled Hienna, nodding at the berries. "Well, it's not that long a walk from here, I don't think...maybe half a day? So why don't you eat your berries and we can start off tomorrow?"

"It sounds perfectly fine to me. I'm very excited to meet her...Though still a bit wary of the two legger. You promise this one is kind, yes?" She smiled and went to her berries, still ravenous. Even if she was worried, it wouldn't stop her from scarfing the berries that Zaphiro had hunted for her.
"Mmm, these are good...I'm going to want some more of these." Hienna had a feeling that she would end up work her mate to the bone getting her berries.

"Very much so, or else I wouldn't think of bringing you near." Smiling, Zaphiro settled down a bit more comfortably beside his mate, his expression reflecting the enormous contentment that he now felt with life. Even Hienna's further demand couldn't do much to dampen that serenity, although it DID provoke a chuckle.
"We should have settled in a place with a raspberry patch. If this is going to be a recurring trend, maybe we should just transplant the bush itself..."
Well, that could be worried about later.
