Consider using a bounding box so you can keep the foreshortening consistent and in the right perspective. Also, when you lay your stuff out or do your thumbs/roughs/whatever, use geometric 3d shapes. It helps a LOT. Advice from an award winning web comic artist

Thanks~ Using geometric shapes has always been a major problem for me because I'm not used to it but I'll try incorporating it more often than I have been. *never responded to above post* Anyhow, anatomy mishaps ahoy: Face=??? Animals/anthro = I do not understand.

I can't see anything terribly wrong with this. I have the same confusion with Anthro faces, but I find reference of similar animals is helpful as well as starting with basic shapes and putting the muzzle in after. Just take it in steps.

mrgreen These are really good! My favorite is the last one - I love the motion it has and her posture is completely recognizable! heart I also really like the red lineart - its got attitude. xd I know these are just sketches, but it seems to me that most of your work is either lines or flat color. It could be very beneficial to experiment with extreme lighting and coloring. And, it could be fun. whee Was there a specific sketch or idea you wanted critique on?

Ooo, nice!
Did you turn anti-alias on? Lines look somewhat pixelly on some drawings.
Last sketch: left side eye alignment is awkward. Center it more?

^newest. Need foreshadowing help though I just went ahead and colored it because that's fun. Sorry for late replies. Had school and then went out of the country last month to visit relatives abroad. @Orockthro: Thank you! I'm afraid I'm not familiar with what extreme lighting and coloring entails. sweatdrop Feel free to critique any though this is a very late response from myself. >>;; @The Martian: I've currently become accustomed to a program called Pixia since gives me smoother tablet-light strokes. The pixeled looking lines come from the smaller brush sizes' hardest setting. And thank you for the critique!

Character draft for what I'm intending to be an "eastern princess." I need to work on making her look more regal. o__o

How eastern are you going for, design-wise? I can see she's got a little bit of an Obi thing going on with her dress, but her hair and skin are quite western in contrast. Her puffy sleeves and skirt also give her an, in my opinion, more western look whereas her jewelry is simply ambiguous.

She's intended for a fairy tale type story with minimal description if any. >>;; I wanted to go with light eastern influences but distinguishable enough to be identified from that area. At this point, I'm throwing around ideas around until something sticks. Originally, I wanted to use an altered russian style dress but deviated. I'll admit the skin and hair were because I thought the combination looked nice. XD;; Thanks!

I'm aware but it's yet another self-gratifying [for lack of better wording] thing. 8D; *shot* The big puffy-sort of dresses are usually the first thing I think of when I hear royalty. I should have other drafts available later.

I got a tablet a few months ago. Since then, I don't seem to enjoy coloring very much. Okay, so my task commitment was/is still ridiculous and I'm pretty much doing things by whim. This quick sketch was me think how cool it would be if I could draw dynamic battle scenes. The motion isn't really there but I may come back to this once I've gotten a better grasp of exactly what I want the result to look like. hereSome additional stuff I've done fairly recently: newest->oldest Trying to panel out a page of my webcomic- Art shop things- Just for kicks-

I feel like my art has been pretty mediocre lately so now that I have this commission piece, I really want it to look nice. What I have so far: And the avatar it's being based on: If you're familiar with Yoko from Gurren Lagan [sp?], her[^] outfit is supposed to be somewhat similar. I think her jacket could be more flowly but my main concert atm is the anatomy.
