My grandpa was in the AirForce, and he fixed fighter planes during the Korean War. I was in AFJROTC (AirForce Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) for 4 years and left it as a Lt. Colonel (even got a 93 on the ASVAB). I was thinking about joining the AF, but I decided not to even though I could have been higher rank than most people the moment I complete my basic training (and possibly become an officer).
But eh... I'm still young, and I can change my mind about things...

Attack Israel." But the US isnt in that position, not like we have one of our neighbors going, "Hey John, you know what we should do today, eh? Attack America, eh." OR "Hey Jose, you know what we should do today, ese? Attack America." xd Although, for some reason I get a real chuckle out of the idea of Canada or Mexico invading us. xd

"Smoke nargilla?" "No..." "Merry our cousin?" "No..." "Attack Israel, get kicked in the a** and cry to the UN that Israel is sitting 40 Kilometers from our Capital?" "Oh yeah!" "Great. Let's go!" "Alla Wakbar!"

Then the UN will be like "Israel, stop shooting at your neighbors!" and Israel will be like "But...they...they shot first." and the UN will reply, "Well, they have Oil so we need to be nice to them first." Honestly, I dont know why the US still keeps that failed excuse of an organization still have its home here. They should go stick it in France or something. rolleyes xd

Maxter your vision of world affares and conflict scares me I find them quite interesting. If the US had a draft, I'd cry. That's like slave labor for what you kids get paid. You shouldn't fight for your country unless you find it's an honor to die for your country. Frankly I don't blame any boy/girl who wouldn't find it an honor considering what we're fighting for, who we're fighting under, and the country we're fighting against. I support the troops, because they're doing a job I could never do, but I will never ever support our president and his war mongering ways.

Personally, Id cry if there was a draft only because I wouldnt want to go into combat. I however can understand why drafts are sometimes needed, such as in WW2. Countries, especially the westernized nations, nowadays just dont always have a large enough standing army to take on certain tasks, such as a world war.

On one hand, a draft in the US wouldn't affect me, since I am a female... On the other hand, I think that if a draft _IS_ instated, they should draft both genders. So, basically, I'm against the idea of forced military service in the US, and we should stop starting wars unnecessarily. stare But I do think we need to lift the ban on women in combat. Not that _I_ want to go off to war, but some women are capable of serving in combat units, and keeping these old policies in place is ridiculous.
I'd rather serve my country at home as part of the emergency services - EMS isn't exactly a picnic, but I can sleep in my own bed at night, and while we do get shot at occasionally, there's not a huge risk of running over bombs in our ambulance. But, if I _were_ to go into the armed forces, I'd prefer to become a corpsman/medic, obviously - I'm already somewhat qualified.

In a way I can see certain reasons why women arent allowed in certain situations, what with the monthly visitor and all. However I do believe they should be opened to more stuff then they already have.

I personally don't want to go into the military myself, but there's no reason that women who want to shouldn't be allowed to. We deal with that sort of thing all the time, and combat situations don't really make a difference. stare
