To me, an honorable death is a death that will help other people in a way. Like when you die trying to save someone else's life. Of course, it's more honorable if the person who dies knows what they're doing and when their death couldn't be prevented. Of course, such deaths are pretty rare but another "good" death is a death with dignity. That's when you feel good about your own death because you feel that you're ready for it (like an old person who's sick and who dies peacefully). Of course, there are other examples for this cause I think that no matter how you die, you can do it with dignity.
On the other hand, an unhonorable death would a a totally unuseful death that could have been prevented easily. Like suicide, accidents due to drunk driving, fights, etc. In the case of suicide, the person thinks it's right while it isn't so it isn't easy to judge. It's an act of cowardice cause they cannot face their own life, but they see no other solution so they need to be helped. Suicide can never be right though because it's the most selfish act one can do. Sometimes, it can be understandable but what we have to do is stop making it look like it's right.

The only reason I can think that death without honor would be a bad thing is if the livelihood of those who survived you were related to that honor. Like, if you died in disgrace if that meant that your family wouldn't be cared for. Then, I would say that death without honor would be terrible. Otherwise, I don't really see the point. It's just ego-grasping. You die, and then you're gone.

Moonlight_Naida, I agree with you (save only the part about suicide being an act of cowardice). However, dying with honor doesn't concern me very much. An honorable death, to me, seems like something valued only by those left alive. I'll be dead, so what will I care what my death was like? I only care if I live with honor. If someone dies in a moment, would that moment, even if it were honorable, weigh more than a livetime of honor or dishonor?
I like the Bard's blunt observation:Shakespeare's Falstaff What is honor? A word. What is in that word “honor”? What is that “honor”? Air. A trim reckoning. Who hath it? He that died 135 o' Wednesday. Doth he feel it? No. Doth he hear it? No. 'Tis insensible, then? Yea, to the dead. But will it not live with the living? No. Why? Detraction will not suffer it. Therefore, I'll none of it. Honor is a mere scutcheon. And so ends my catechism. Henry IV Part 1, Act 5, scene 1.

Honorable Death: Dying protecting something or someone important to you or others.
Dishonorble Death: Dying as punishment for a crime.

Aquastar_1 Honorable Death: Dying protecting something or someone important to you or others. Dishonorble Death: Dying as punishment for a crime. But what if you confessed to the crime and turned yourself in for the sake of justice? Would that make it an honorable death, since you sought to repay the debt?
