Seems like a good idea. Though, I probably won't participate in it much, maybe I'll drop by every now and then.

That sounds like a good idea. If we could get people involved it would work. I reccomend doing it by chapter, definitly. Any longer and people will get bored with it. There has to be a way to keep everyone's intrest, not just a read and discuss type thing. Or at least the discussion has to be interesting, not tedious. lol, after all that, count me in!!

There was a great bible study guild that I'm a member of (screw conflicting tenses razz ), http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewforum.php?f=1406 ... They're having leader difficulties (Yami quit, etc...) hopefully it'll be back up and running soon. Although I suppose it would be easier for us to have a thread here, rather than join the guild there... but who says we can't do both? domokun xp Just a thought.

mistressofthelost I reccomend doing it by chapter, definitly. You mean read straight through books chapter by chapter? Ick. We should follow a reading plan... like I've already mentioned.

Elera waking shadow you should make a list of people who wanna do it at the beginning of the thread, so we can pm each other and stuff about what we've found. it'd be awsome it would be cool if we could get an IRC chatroom goin'... or i could make a board on my forum and we could all post there (would be easier/better than PMing friendslists or individually, and would have more organization than posting here.)

Aetherius Lamia mistressofthelost I reccomend doing it by chapter, definitly. You mean read straight through books chapter by chapter? Ick. We should follow a reading plan... like I've already mentioned. If we want to read the whole book, yes. But If not, just study a chapter at a time. Not a few verses, and not the whole book.

eek Wow, people are getting into this way more than I thought they would. Sorry about the poll suddenly dying though sweatdrop Probably reading a whole book chapter by chapter would get pretty boring pretty fast though, so maybe a specific reading plan might be a good idea. Perhaps at some point we could all take turns suggesting favorite books or chapters for the whole group to go through (like a book club? sweatdrop ) I wonder how a live chat thing would work though? I'm not sure not everyone's in the same time zone, and it might be hard to get everyone online at one time; posting in the discussion when you can might work better. Might. I could be wrong. Thanks for all the support so far though, guys ^^* heart

Fushigi na Butterfly I'm not sure not everyone's in the same time zone, Well that doesn't really matter, as "now" is instantaneous around the globe razz Fushigi na Butterfly I wonder how a live chat thing would work though? ...it might be hard to get everyone online at one time; posting in the discussion when you can might work better. Yeah, posting on a message board would definitely work better, you're right... Fushigi na Butterfly Thanks for all the support so far though, guys ^^* heart This'll definitely be interesting. 3nodding (is Lamia, btw.)

What if we started with a thread the title of which would identify which part of the Bible it focuses on? I know we agreed not to go through the Bible chapter by chapter book by book, but suppose we pick 2 or 3 places to start simultaneously. Maybe an Old Testament book, a New Testament book, and Psalms/Proverbs. That way you could read one or two or all three passages at your leisure, post in the appropriate thread(s), and let each thread run a week or two. Then we could start another three threads with the next readings.
If the Old Testament bogs down in "begats" or details we find tedious, those threads will die quickly, while interesting discussion can continue in others we find more interesting, yet we'll still read the whole Bible.
Then a sticky could keep track of all the threads we do, so if anyone joins after we start, they can see where we've been and read what we learned and discussed. Or if discussion referrences previous studies, we can all go look at the old ones.
