Ephia had been glancing around the dining cavern for any of th enew dragonriders and had caught sight of a large group of them by a table. She had just turned to move in their direction when a blur of a person beside her caused her to step back instinctively. That blur had turned out to be one of the many people she had been looking for. It seemed though, that the girl was rather taken by surprise by nearly bowling over the Weyrwoman, that her tongue got away from her.
With a chuckle Ephia held a hand up. "It's alright. No one got hurt. and yew, the hatching was great." She smiled warmly at the girl...yes..girl! This had been the candidate she wasn't sure about during the hatching. Up close it was quite obvious that this young one was certainly female. That short hair-cut had certainly fooled her though from a distance. "Well, I'd like to welcome you to the ranks. I am sure you're still quite excited about impressing Lazulth and all that energy is the result. Before you go bounding off to fill that stomach of yours I think some introductions are in order." The Weyrwoman pushed a stray piece of hair back over her shoulder and out of her face as she said this. "As I'd gathered from your reaction to nearly running into me you know who I am but might as well make it formal." She winked. "I am Weyrwoman Ephia, rider of Gold Ariath."

Saeryan had fussed and messed around with Daranth, getting him fed and as comfortable as she could. Exhaustion nearly radiated off the poor brown before she realized it was past time for him to take a rest, and for her to get down to the celebrations.
Daranth will be fine. You go. Enjoy yourself?
"I will, I will. Are you sure you're comfortable? You've had enough to eat? Is there anything more I can do for you, love?" The girl wrung her hands, unsure of what more she could do for him.
Sleepy. Go down with the others, mine. I will be here when you get back.
Perhaps that had been why she wasn't ready to leave him, unsure that this was real, or just a dream, but his words soothed her to a less nervous state. Nodding to herself, Saer quickly moved to change out of her robes, having forgotten the scratchy things in her haste to make her bond comfortable. Her choice of attire certainly wasn't the finest of clothing, but was acceptable to say the least. A cobalt blue tunic over brown semi-fitted trousers, with a necklace wrapped like a choker around her neck. Wavy reddish tresses were tied up and back into a ponytail, with two unruly ringlets draping down to frame her face.
"Well, what do you think? How do I look?" She presented herself to her companion, reaching up to pluck a stray hair or two that had been shed while she was pulling her hair up.
Perfect. As you did in your previous garb.
"You sure know how to make a girl feel good." Chuckling with a wink, the girl stepped out and headed down to the celebration, leaving Daranth to rest.
----------------------------
Upon reaching the gathering, Saeryan stopped. So many people, riders and newly Impressed alike. It wasn't that she was nervous about being around so many people, no quite the opposite. It was more that, she couldn't decide whose conversation to crash first. A glance around showed her where most of the others who'd Impressed alongside of her stood, and the woman made a beeline for them, wanting to extend her congrats to each of them. Now would be a good time to refresh herself on their names, seeing as she was likely to see a lot of them in the months to come.

After the hatching she had been tending to Ilorith who was as it seemed constantly hungry; The baby dragonet ate so much. Orana had been caring for his every need, Oiling, feeding, and had watched him snooze in the sunlight. She had never really cared for anyone this way before it was new and strange. Her dragonet loved her like no other and Orana loved him unconditionally just the same she would die for him. It was the strangest and most amazing thing.
Orana if she had owned a gown would have been wearing it. Orana stood proudly beside her brown. There were so few females who did impress browns she couldn't help but be proud. Orana wore dress pants instead of a gown like the rest of the girls her hair was pulled back but not up and she still wore her leather gloves and boots with her scarf.
Ilorith, Orana said addressing her dragonet with affection, we should meet others. The girl told her dragonet with a smile.
Ilorith looked at her curiously and he cocked his wedge shaped head Why? He questioned sleepily.
Because wouldn’t it be nice to know others and become acquainted with others love? She tried to explain to the dragonet. She only really knew Remia and Trith and she wanted them to meet her dragonet. There was another girl candidate she had seen impress a blue as it was although she met her only one but she could hardly remember the meeting. There were so many new weyrlings and old faces to see.
Ilorth looked at her again I would like to meet others mine, he replied calmly. Ilorith was content fully fed and oiled.
Go back to sleep love, Orana wondered where her three flits had wandered off to, most likely causing trouble though quietly she laughed
Firelizards are strange replied the brown his eyes were a lovely shade of blue.
That they are, Orana agreed
Orana walked around watching the festivities and wondered were she should join in. She looked around trying find some one to converse with or to find a conversation she could join into. Having Ilorith by her side seemed dreamlike ahd she worried that she would wake and he wouldn't be there.
I wont leave you mine and I will always be with you, came the comforting words in her mind Orana couldn't help but smile as she felt him drift back to sleep.

Oh, it was hard not to know who Ephia was when you had grown up in the Weyr as Janista had. Many a times she had been threatened with getting sent between or thrown off the heights by Ariath...but that wasn't something she could mention, no sir! Especially since that threat seemed rather silly now that she had met the Weyrwoman in person. "A pleasure to meet you, Weyrwoman Ephia! My name's Janista, and I'm the rider of Blue Lazulth," she said, straightening up a bit with pride and the desire to be polite to someone who was now officially in charge of her. This was going well...she hadn't called her "young lad" or asked her for her honorific, so it seemed that the Weyrwoman realized that she was female. Yay, no indirect awkwardness from gender confusion!

Orana noticed the Weyrwoman speaking to the female blue rider. It was easier for Orana to tell because she herself was tomboyish except for her lengthy hair. Orana wandered over to the pair speaking. She had met the Weyrwoman only a few times but she doubted she would be well remembered "Hello Weyrwoman Ephia," Orana said and then looked to Janista and greeted her as well "I don't belive I know your name." Orana said politely then announced with obvious pride "I'm Orana rider of Brown Ilorith."

((Gonna get EPhia away from you two cause I am heading to bed for the night and I don't want her to hold you two up))
Ephia smiled at Janista. "It's a pleasure to meet you Janista." The Weyrwoman glanced up at the arrival of another of the newly impressed. When introductions were made, Ephia said her hello's to Orana before glancing over to the other group. She turned to the two girls who were getting to know one another. "It was a pleasure meeting both of you. I am sure I shall be seeing you both more often. Now if you two will excuse me I've got to go and meet some of your fellow Weyrlings." With that Ephia side stepped the two girls and slipped away into the crowd.

((Bye, Kolina!))
Janista waited for the Weyrwoman to leave before she turned to her fellow rider. "Hello, Orana, rider of Brown Ilorith! I'm Janista, rider of Blue Lazulth. I guess us female riders of male dragons should stick together, eh? But right now I'm starving...I've been listening to Lazulth talk about how hungry he is for too long. Hey, that stuff over there looks good..." she said, wandering over to a plate of meatrolls and waiting to see if the other rider would follow. She was quick to take several, as it was impossible to know if there would be many more meatrolls around after this hungry brood had hatched.

Layn smiled at the riders, "This'll become routine I bet... everything becomes routine if you do it long enough." adding quicky, "I am sure you are not slow, you seem perfectly normal to me." Ahh, how hard it would be to break the habits of her old line of 'work.' Her eyebrows wrinkled as she felt Ireth stir.
Mine..? Where are you? Ireth's voice flooded her mind, something that just yesterday would have been the most disturbing thing Layn could think of. But it felt perfectly natural.
I am with the other weyrlings, you are safe. Be still and dream, dear one.
Are you sure?
Of course! Layn turned to M'shaal and X'lias, and tired her best too soothe her little dragonet back to sleep, "Weyrling..wow is it different being called that! I am Layn rider of the green Ireth." she bowed her head respectfully as they spoke, she wanted to make as many friends as possible, and was afraid that her quick outspoken temper would get in the way. Different was quickly becoming Layn's word of the day.

((See ay Kolina))
Orana bade the Weyrwoman goodbye before truning to her fellow rider "A pleasure Janista Rider of Bue Lazulth." she greeted in return. Then smiled "I guess so." Orana smiled. There had been more females impressing the male dragons during this clutch. Orana followed her to the food table. Orana couldn't hide the amusement from her face. She too had to listen to Ilorith's constant nagging about him being hungry and she hadn't thougth of her self even once.
"It does look good" Orana agreed takng a few meatrolls herself and a few extra just in case.

The dusky-brown haired rider lifted his head a little when X'lias approached, not hesitating to offer a cheeky grin. "Guess I'm not as slow as this guy though, huh?" He jerked his head playfully towards the brownrider, a grin still splayed across his face to show that he meant no offense. Hazel eyes flicked over to M'shaal as he introduced himself as well, nodding. "J'riar, rider of blue Natroth." It was good--these seemed to be a friendly lot.
With a groan, the lanky, if attractive bluerider stretched a little and rose to his feet, gesturing his open seat to the rest so they could sit, if they wanted. Lazy as he was, he'd been sitting all day. "Chalk and cheese, eh?" He found himself grinning at Law'r, amused by the analogy. "Ahh, so you were a harper? I worked as a Herdcrafter, myself." It seemed like such a long time ago...One hand busied itself by running through his hair while the young man laughed. "You'll get used to it, I swear." J'riar seemed to understand the man's discomfort, his grin fading to a thoughtful expression. "How many Turns are you?"
He caught himself with a look of surprise, shaking his head. "Ach, sorry. I guess I'm just unused to seeing someone 'round my age..." Realizing that that wasn't much better, J'riar finally gave up, grinning as he fingered his partially eaten apple. "I'm digging my own grave, eh? I'm twenty-one Turns, myself--could hardly believe Natroth settled for me instead of someone a bit younger."

Syleti led a finally-sated Erith to the weyrling barracks, noting that the girl's side seemed to have several of the hatchlings already sleeping inside. The green dragonet clambered onto an unoccupied couch without bothering to wait for her lifemate, curling up into a tight ball. I will sleep here, she said simply.
"Alright, Erith," Syleti shrugged, eyes bright with awe and happiness. One cot looked much the same as another, and her things were in a sack against the wall along with those for the rest of the chosen. What did it really matter, compared to the wondrous green marvel curled up in front of her, rapidly falling into a deep slumber? It was certainly more than a crafter girl like herself had really expected.
In fact, in her happy daze she was halfway out the door to trot up to the feast before she remembered that she needed to change out of her sweaty, bloody white robe. "Fardling shells!" she muttered as she whirled on her heels, darting back in. Tossing her bag onto the cot and rousing a sleepy little rumble from Erith, she pulled out a loose, fitted blue dress of a pale blue, her Gather/Hatching/special occasion dress. Slipping into it, she trotted back out into the corridor, making her way to the feast.

Remia sat with a cup of klah, communing silently with her dragon. She'd reconnected with her dragon during the hatching, though there hadn't been any need for such a thing. But it was a reminder of how not long ago it was that they had met, and the powerful feelings at the first Impression had returned.
And so, distant-eyed and smiling bemusedly, Remia had spent a great deal of the gather so far just basking in the presence of the green in her mind.
Brown Ilorith's rider wants you to meet him, Trith suddenly said, and Remia blinked. Ilorith? Then she recalled. Orana had been on the sands, and she'd been approached by a brown. Remia filled with pride at her friend's success on the sands, and she realized that she should have made her congratulations by now. A flush of embarrassment filled her, but was swept away by a feeling of encouragement from Trith.
We were together, so she will understand, the green said. Remia smiled, and nodded. "You are right, dear one. I'll go find her now," the teen said.
She stood up from the table after draining the last of her klah, and looked around for the familiar tall figure of her friend. Trith? Do you know where Ilorith is? she asked.
There was a pause, and Trith answered, By the food tables, Mine.
Remia nodded, and started in that direction. It wasn't long before she spotted the new brown rider, along with a few others, none of whom she recognized. It seemed they were all accompanied by new hatchlings, though.
Good! I can offer my congratulations to them all! she thought, cheerfully.
Waving, she joined the group, saying, "Orana! I'm so happy for you! I was talking with Trith, or I'd have been here sooner!" She held out her arms for a hug to the taller girl, waiting to be accepted.

Finishing his apple, Law'r joined back in with the conversation, nodding to J'riar. "Yeah, I was a harper, it was alright but I could never really see myself being as dedicated to the craft as my father was, it was all so dusty and tranditional. I'm more than glad I took my chances on the sands, and that he actually agreed with me doing so."
Taken by surprise but not really unpleasantly so by the question of his age. He hadn't actually thought what age the other rider was, on first impressions associating his calm and collected composure and greater experience in the ways of the weyr with seniority. But now that he actually stepped back mentally and looked at him, his features, though tanned by his work, were far from grizzled by age. A subtle grin tugged at his features and he waved a hand dismissively.
"Not at all, I don't mind. From what I hear I was the oldest one to stand out on the sands today, twenty-one Turns to my name aswell." he laughed "Maybe blues are more tolerant of age? I was dead sure I was too young to impress at all."

X'lias smiled at the older bluerider as introductions were made. The boy did notice the slight apprehension no...well...X'lias wasn't quite sure what the man was feeling but it certainly wasn't something that looked secure. The young brownrider just shrugged it off though. He didn't want to cause anymore insecurity by bringing up whatever it was troubling the new Weyrling. "It's nice to meet you Law'r."
Blue eyes turned to J'riar and the boy jabbed an elbow at the bluerider in jest. X'lias knew that J'riar was playing and didn't mind the poke n his direction withthe joke. It all just helped to lighten the mood further But J'riar knew how to break the moods at times as he took notice to Law'r's change in tempo. The way the bluerider just fumbled his way around with words though, X'lias couldn't help but laugh. "Such eloquence, J'riar." He grinned up at the bluerider before turning to Law'r. "Don't worry about age. You dragon didn't worry about it when he chose you. I mean, look at me. I was the youngest to impress at 13. It'll be a few years before I can even join the J'riar as a full ranking rider when they get promoted."
His attention was turned to the arrival of another of the new Weyrlings. Apparently he had joined the right group because they just seemed to keep flocking towards the table. X'lias smiled at Layn and nodded his head. "X'lias, rider of brown Gurath." He spoke as he scooted out of the way to let someone grab J'riar's vacant spot.

"Bah, tradition!" J'riar openly grinned at that, shaking his head. "Wouldn't have been able to stand it, myself. That being said, I couldn't sing to save my life." The bluerider offered a broad wink then laughed, remembering fondly how his father had roared at him to shut up whenever he'd tried. It'd all been in jest, of course--well, on his father's part. That still didn't deny the fact that J'riar was completely and utterly tone deaf.
The jab to his side earned a mild, playful grunt, and the young man grinned widely, pleased with himself. "Never said I was skilled with words!" His attention was soon drawn back however, and the brunette was nodding in complete understanding. "I was in the same boat. I didn't really know what to do with myself, surrounded by all the other, younger candidates. Guess the blues do take pity on us elderfolk." J'riar chuckled.
"I was told that twenty-one Turns was the oldest they'll allow on the sands." He said thoughtfully, pausing to offer a cheeky sort of smirk at X'lias. "Only thirteen Turns, and you still know your way better around than I do...Figures, eh?"
