JealouslyZealous
Fact: My family and I are hooked on this show called "Amazing Race". If you haven't heard of it, it's where pairs go around the world racing to be in the top 3 to win 1 million dollars. Well, some of the couples have/are gay. This one guy of one of the gay couples keeps making remarks about God. I don't know if he's Christian, but it unnerves me everytime the gay guy mentions God in some way (not really disrespectful though...).

Discussion: My parents and I were discussing the possiblity of him being a homosexual Christian. My parents were saying it's because there's this new thing of Christianity becoming more liberal and allowing homosexuallity because Jesus does not specifically say, the red ink does not specifically say.

My argument: "In the beginning the Word was with God... The Word is God."* Also in the Bible are 2 verses (different books... I think) but "one man and one woman"* and "men did lustful, shameful acts with each other and women too"*. Since the Word is JESUS, therefore JESUS DOES IN FACT SAY THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS WRONG!

*Paraphrase of what I've read before. Not actual quote!

I believe there are those out there who have went liberal as Christians. But I also say that there are many who have went to the Ultra-conservative side. We have people on both sides who are reading more into the Bible than what is really there. Many, on both sides are neglecting to truly study God's Word. They choose one version and say it is the only one. They don't dig in and read it and study it. That is what I think.

I feel that you can be a homosexual Christin, but you just can not act upon homosexual acts or tendencies.

it took me awhile to learn that homesexuallity is an abonination to God, and if I was not a christain then I would say he if you love each other why not?? But the bible does say not to be, and then he did make man for woman not men for men, it is sad in a way, but I just remember this, there is corupted people out there that will in fact do wrong, poor people got into the wrong path.

I think Homosexuality is wrong but its like any sin. If you can't have homosexual christians does that mean we can't have christians who have ever lied. Come on we have all lied or sinned in some way yes?

I think some Christians in the US are failing to stand up strong for our faith in the mist of opposition. I think we falling into the peer pressure by the public when we shouldn't. Many Christians around the world in 2nd and 3rd world countries have suffered huge amounts of persecution, including death, that we here in the US don't face, but they still stand up for Christ bravely and spread the Gospel in territories that forbid Christianity. (There are some stories about them at www.persecution.com.)

It's really ironic how although those people face such harsh persecution, their faith is so strong and unwavering, yet us Christians in the US are blessed enough to not face those kinds of persecutions and our faiths are weak and hindered by peer pressure from the outside world.

That's true, Rosetta, and that's one of the reasons why God allows His people to suffer. If a man does not find any opposition in his life, he will not grow up. He needs to undergo a whole process full of obstacles in life in order to grow up and be mature. It's the same with Christians. Trials strengthen faith, if such faith is firmly grounded on God and His Word. To surrender to peer pressure is to give glory to the creature, rather than to the Creator, and such an attitude is condemned in Romans 1.

That does not mean that we are going to look for unnecessary opposition, but that we must be willing to sacrifice ourself for the cause of Jesus Christ. As He said: "'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me." He promises blessings to those who deny themselves to follow Him.
